Closeups of the minifigures are on Brickset now. I'm a little disappointed that Eggman's head is attached to the torso, but otherwise I actually really like the design for him.

Wow really should have made Eggman's head a seperate piece. As the printing on it really needs black outlines.

That kind of coloring is more something you'd see on a knockoff. Not an official Lego Minifigure.

Agreed, it really does look very cheap without the outlines. Although it's also a very large image zoomed in far more than you'd see the figure in real life. I wonder whether in the plastic, the black outlines would interfere with the detail too much? I hope they tried both and deliberately did this, rather than just cheaping out on the process.

The images I posted are from today's Sonic Central. Doctor Eggman's "hacking" comes in around the 13:30 mark.

Sonic heroes is the favourite sonic game, so if I could get all 12 main characters that'd be cool but if not then the team shadow was the team I played as so those 3 plus the main 3 and Amy Rose and obviously an egg man.

Have actually played a few more sonic games since I posted this, but anyway I'm definitely not getting the idea set now, I'd rather get the death egg robot. I might also get the animal rescue island to complete the (available) cast though I might just wait till the next wave as it might have better sets with Amy and Tails and potentially Knuckles and Shadow.

Considering how popular the Sonic IP is, we might get way more characters than those 2 next year

There are Lego skins coming for Sonic Superstars. Sonic and Eggman are the same as in the sets. I bet that will be our first look at what a Knuckles minifigure next year will look like.

I'm seeing more and continuing to like it, hoping Amazon or Smyths or someone will discount Amy's animal rescue island at some point as I like the set but not for that price, 😕.

and here is a update on the brickheadz guys. 

 40627 Sonic with 139 pieces and 40628 Tails with 131 bricks for $9.99 each.

And there is more sets and brickheadz rumoured to be coming in 2024

Fo anyone interested, there's a LEGO Eggman event going on right now in the Sonic Forces mobile game. The event lasts for another 5 days or so and you can work toward unlocking LEGO Eggman as a playable character. I'm a little over halfway there.

i got him. and there are events to unlock lego amy, lego sonic and lego tails in sonic forces and sonic dash

Since the $35 set has a similar piece count to the Sonic Speed Sphere set (as well as the same price obvs), I could see it being a Knuckles Speed Sphere set with a build of the Master Emerald shrine with a ramp on each side so Sonic (from wave one) and Knuckles can battle over it, a la the Chima Eagle's Castle set. 

Curious what the $20 set will be. For that price I highly doubt there'll be any new characters, but getting an existing character with a new face print would be nice. 

Surprising this is it, I was fully expecting a 4+ set or two.

I still predict what I've predicted since we saw the first wave: Knuckles will come in January, and Shadow (plus Super Sonic and probably a couple other characters) will come in 2HY.

Would seem like a smart move considering the Knuckles TV show coming out soon
