LEGO Gabby's Dollhouse 2023 Discussion

Somehow I was unaware of this theme until yesterday when I saw it in the new catalogue.

Obviously I'm not the target either and I am vaguely familiar with the show (my daughter does watch this sometimes). However, I think those look really good and I'm actually considering at least getting the one with the boat.

For those interested the house has a few recoloured and newer pieces and I'm pretty sure that the lift/Cat-a-Vator parts are new. The instructions are infuriating though. I appreciate that they are 4+, but for my 6 year old daughter they were kind of vague and too drawn out. Each section of the house has its own booklet, so there are nine of them (six rooms, two roof sections and the lift), and they are housed in a cardboard sleeve. The instructions show you what parts you need on one page and then spin out their placement over another three sides. To counteract this excessive use of paper the parts are in the regular plastic bags.

There are no stickers, they're all printed parts (and there's a few of them). The completed set can go back in the box for tidying/keeping the loose accessories safe purposes.

There are four characters in the set, and seeing as there's only one other new one in one of the other sets, I'm guessing that they are holding back for a potential second wave to complete the set. Or Lego could pull a Lego and leave them without the rest.

I’m looking forward to picking up the sets when on discount. Not seen any Gabbys dollhouse 2024 in the leaks but hopefully second half of 2024. I don’t want to pick up the sets unless I can have all the Gabby cats!

Honestly, I always expected this to be a one-and-done type deal. A vast majority of licensed non-evergreen themes don‘t make it past their first wave anymore. Avatar was probably the only exception lately and that one is dead too until the next movie hits

And yeah, I would have been pretty miffed if Gabby made it to 2024 while Indy didn‘t, adding insult to injury

I don't think that this and Indy are really comparable. It's not like Gabby is taking shelf space from him with these 4+ sets. 

And hey, I won't be surprised if this is a one time deal, but it's gaining momentum online and is a pretty popular show. Plus, I'm the one who'll have an upset daughter who has an incomplete set of weird cats, so I reckon I can stake a claim to the being miffed.

Fair point. I don‘t know the show so I had no idea there were still some main characters missing  I think they should‘ve included the full cast in this wave then, given how rare follow-up waves have become for non-videogame licenses

No worries man. My hopes for Saturn Girl, Gleek and Samurai in the DC theme have got cobwebs on them. Sure, there's other characters in that theme and other characters in other themes missing, but you know what I mean. It's like someone at Lego who works in character development has ADHD.

I mean, I’m not surprised gabby’s dollhouse is a one-and-done license, the sets were doomed to warm store shelves, as 4+ sets sell horribly, I mean, I know there’s a market for them, but in my area nobody buys 4+ sets. I still haven’t gotten any of the sets yet (dang it dreamzzz!) but I’ll still probably get some for cursed minidolls.

DJ catnip, Babybox and Kittycorn(?) have leaked. Pleased to add a couple more cats but without pillowcat I can never be content. Surely I don’t have to now wait for 2025 for more sets… I can’t see the theme being that popular to hit a 3rd wave.

I’m surprised we didn’t get Carlita? That’s the one my daughter seems most interested in.

And the “slide”, but I can see that being unappealing especially as the garden has already been released separately.
