Shahennian Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 The pricepoint is insane. Do we know if it's a D2C? Really hope it can be bought through Amazon at a discount.
Surge Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 everyones saying how great Kamala is and while i agree her prints r nice i am pretty let down. no mask printing at all, no purple powers represented, and she also should have had mid legs imo i also just think the suit is way worse that the show one, but i dont blame lego for that at all ofc
NoOneOfImportance Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 The ship and figs are... fine. But not $90 good. I may Bricklink Kamala to go with the Avengers Tower and call it a day. I just don't understand why they keep making such overpriced and/or undesired sets (like buildable figs).

Buckethead Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Does anyone in here have any business experience? I feel as if there has to be a reason for Lego increasing the prices for sets that have lately been decreasing in number of pieces and new molds. Like, is Marvel just not as popular any more?

Its almost like lots of people bought a ticket to see it because they were introduced to the character in Infinity War, and found out that they didn't like it. It might be top ten grossing, but it's bottom tier ratings wise.
Scarilian Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 This set's price per piece is $0.214. To put it into perspective the most popular price per piece calculator's highest label is '$0.19' which is 'Excessive price which should probably be avoided' 21 minutes ago, Buckethead said: Like, is Marvel just not as popular any more? Movies promote the toys, if less people are seeing the movies then less people are buying the toys. In terms of pricing, there's no logical business justification for it other than that Lego think you are dumb enough to pay for it.

thebricksbear Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 It's sad that the price is so unbelievably bad, because the build is actually sick. The figs look just like the movie, nothing revolutionary. It'd be a great set for like $40.

You don't need to settle for some overpriced knockoff.... Thanks, but I wasn't trying to imply that I was going to buy it because of those vibes, nor that I have a hankering for a LEGO Star Trek shuttle craft. Just that the design of this actually looks good

A LOT of people did not like the movie much at all, and calling everyone who dislikes it an incel is moronic. They had to add two new actresses to the lead to give the film a boost, this describes the situation perfectly :-) whoever wants to think it's a strong franchise is free to do so. There is no translation for the word "incel" but I can imagine the meaning, I don't frequent extremist circles, the film and Larson didn't like very moderate fans. however the earnings from the sequel will be a good yardstick to test people's love
NXS7 Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 I'm really surprised as I really hate Kamala's new suit for the film, but I actually love that figure. Disappointing I'll have to wait half a year for some decent clearance discounts though 2 hours ago, Surge said: everyones saying how great Kamala is and while i agree her prints r nice i am pretty let down. no mask printing at all, no purple powers represented The power fist pieces introduced with Gilgamesh in Eternals would've worked amazing for Kamala. Monica's powers should be represented in blue as well, but I guess the 3 have to share a singular power blast bag 5 hours ago, psqidexslizer said: It’s time to stop wondering whether or not we’ll get sets for Deadpool and start taking bets on which Fantastic Four member doesn’t make it into the sets. 😁 I was about to say it'd be Thing, due to the need of new big fig printing, but then realised I wouldn't put it past LEGO to make him a regular figure. If anyone doesn't make it in, it would be Sue, and they'd be able to get away with it
The_Chosen_1 Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 For those in the U.S., the Black Panther bust (76215) is available from Walmart for $150. I just had Target price match online. Definitely worth it at this price, even as just a parts pack!

Reminds me of the people that somehow try to argue that Avatar 2 was a flop Most MCU films are not deserving of an A. I'm not pushing a narrative, merely showing that a film can achieve a positive at the same time as achieving a negative. I genuinely couldn't care less about Avatar 2, having watched the first and not been excited by any part of it.

Ondra Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 90 dollars for this lousy ship with 400 pieces when galaxy explorer is like 100 dollars for 1200 pieces. Are they testing limits of customers or how are they blind?
Legocity2713 Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 (edited) Not sure if its been mentioned yet but in the Brickset photos of The Hoopty you can see that one of the screens in the cockpit has Nick Fury on there. Going to be a useful sticker for many out there. Edited July 19, 2023 by Legocity2713

Nah, not you. I mean no one has to defend it, I just don't think that box office is a good measure of a film's quality.

Or Black Widow and Nick Fury (again) to Captain America 2? It's called building out a character's universe... People really want to push the conspiracy theories for Captain Marvel no matter what. This set could be $90 for a number of reasons. One could be that they set the price before they had finished the model (which absolutely happens), then the model turned out smaller than they thought it would to capture what source material they had, and pricing was too inflexible to change.
Legocity2713 Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet - I took another look at the first trailer for The Marvels and it looks like the sticker on in The Hoopty is the same planet they visit in the trailer. You can tell because it has the rings. Possibly the planet Aldana from the comics where all the residents speak in rhyme schemes / song. Also seems like the back boosters of the Lego version of the Hoopty isn’t entirely accurate as the blue boosters should be above the wings as per the trailer, not below the wings. There's a marked difference between "other characters appear in film" and "character's second film gets two co-leads and a title change", that's all I'll say. 2 hours ago, Clone OPatra said: This set could be $90 for a number of reasons. "Pricing was too inflexible to change"? But they increase it closer than this all the time! We've known the marvels set was $90 for forever. For whatever reason, lego thinks The Marvels of all things is the one they can really dig deep with on price gouging, and it's gonna bite them in the #ss. I can't think of a single other marvel set this overpriced. Maybe the compound battle? But that had two bigfigs and was based on the most anticipated film ever made.
