It directly answers your question regarding dislike of the first BP movie and the changes Rotten Tomatoes made before BP2 came out. There are also plenty of below par opinions out there, imdb and metacritic were easy enough to find. There are plenty of below par opinions for any movie, and a news article being written about the first non 5/5 review implies that it was well-liked, not that it encountered massive amounts of vitriol. The point me (and maybe pug, I don't want to assume) were making is that it didn't encounter anywhere near the dislike captain marvel encountered, probably because most people thought it was a better film. 3 hours ago, BrickBob Studpants said: Personally, I found that scene hilarious They seriously tried to Reveal hidden contents kill their super-powered boss with a plastic bag?! Other than the foolishness of their attempt, it was pretty satisfying to see Gravik get a good beating, I give it that. Can't wait for him to die next week. Painfully. I don't like cowardly villains. I'm not saying Secret Invasion had to be on the same level as the comic counterpart, but some higher stakes would have been appreciated. Sure, they try to have that, but without actually bringing in an Avenger or two, it still feels small-scale. Let's be real, as soon as the Avengers showed up, Gravik would be toast It makes sense to me on some level, Spoiler they know they can't shoot him or anything, so they try a different strategy that might work, but it was more about the fact that they probably knew it was futile and expected to die. I loved that. They're going against someone they know will probably kill them because they'd rather do that than hide like cowards or serve evil. 100%, he would be, but a show focusing on humans and shapeshifting but generally not bulletproof guys doesn't need an avengers-level physical threat. Honestly Gravik himself makes me worry it's going to devolve into a CGI slugfest of him versus a cameo instead of Fury outthinking his opponent in the finale. As for the general stakes, it's WW3. Those are pretty damn high stakes, and more importantly, relatable ones (even if I personally think it won't be what most people expect) 14 minutes ago, wesker said: The huge Sentinel is Master Mold. So it looks like we do live in a universe where there was a negative response to BP, just not from critics, making it worthy of note when someone broke the otherwise 100% critics score, still leaving it the highest ranked MCU movie by critics. Yet audience scores put it at #20. And we can absolutely agree that CM was savaged by audience reviews leaving it bottom of the audience list, even if critics put it bottom mid-tier - a disparity the Forbes author highlights in both articles shared. Your point is taken and honour is served. Now, back to my point about how @Legocentrico can exist in a world where they fell asleep watching CM (and I'd love to know at which point), and yet it is the 31st highest grossing movie of all time and how that can be? Could it be because they weren't the target audience? Just as they aren't the target audience for The Marvels? Who knows, they're remaining silent and "neutral" on the topic now. By extension then, what is there to say about The Hoopty set 76232 (£85/$90/€90) a gray potato with some vaguely interesting fillings, three minifigs and some cats. Sounds pretty similar to 76127 which was £25/$30/€30 when it was released in 2019. Multiply that up by a generous 25% to match the base parts count and, not accounting for inflation or potentially increased licensing costs, you're still only at £32/$38/€38ish. Like others have said, this is straight up daylight robbery, even at a 30% discount on retail. GotG3's 76255 wasn't much better. Who is this set even for then? AFOLs know a bad deal when they see it, general Marvel fans can get a Starlord display helmet or Wolverine claw for less, and if kids want a spaceship to play with Mr. Oz's Spacebus is the same price for a craptonne more content (licensing costs make the difference apparently). Looks to me like Captain Marvel fans specifically and MCU completionist collectors are getting pantsed on this one. Unfortunately, I am both. Edited July 22, 2023 by StudLord added 76232 base prices

Pretty much where I’m at. T’challa being introduced meant we would be introduced to Wakanda and all that brings to the table, and it was at an appropriate point of the overall story. It brought us Vibranium, a stronghold for Infinity War, healed Bucky spiritually, and strengthened the roster. Killmonger was a fine adversary (even if he killed Klaw in a blink of an eye). It was a world building film that moved the arc forward. I get the feeling that Captain Marvel was brought in because they had this big moment with Tony doomed in space and needed an escape. The film gave us some backstory, introduced the Skrulls, and showed us how Nick Fury lost his eye. When it came to Endgame Marvel made a big save, had a bit of back and forth with Thor, and was there at the compound battle. Great storytelling meant that the OG heroes would be the ones to take Thanos down, but she would have been more than capable of being a part of that. Given what we had seen her be capable of in IW and her own film, her presence here was a massive letdown, supporting my theory that she was brought in for plot convenience, not to help stop Thanos. In my opinion I don’t think she was handled well. 6 minutes ago, StudLord said: Now, back to my point about how @Legocentrico can exist in a world where they fell asleep watching CM (and I'd love to know at which point), and yet it is the 31st highest grossing movie of all time and how that can be? It being high grossing doesn’t make it good. Someone falling asleep doesn’t mean they aren’t target audience. If it’s part of the story then fans of the story are the target. I can guarantee without having to communicate with anyone that the reason he fell asleep wasn’t because Captain Marvel is a woman. I can also guarantee that there are films out there where members of the target audience have fallen asleep on viewing. That sort of projection does nothing to help further the discussion, as you’re a couple of steps away from telling him he shouldn’t have seen it because it wasn’t for him. Putting people into groups with weird labels and telling them that certain films aren’t meant for them, or heavily suggesting that any negative press has come from the wrong people watching them. You can’t toe that line then immediately follow it up by saying that you want more people to watch more films without coming across as a massive hypocrite. So what, you want people to watch the films but not vocalise their opinions on them?
brickbride Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 (edited) 20 hours ago, Mandalorianknight said: This is an absolutely absurd take. It is completely delusional to believe lego is attempting to look for any reason to put less diversity in sets. First of all, there's no need to call people "completely delusional" just because you don't agree with them. Please be civil. Second, as for diversity in terms of skin colour, race, disabilities, and so on - yeah, I might agree with you. That's something that LEGO pays attention to. But it's also plain that LEGO still doesn't like female characters. Or girls for that matter. They've only recently rebooted their only (non-licenced) girls' theme into no longer a girls' theme because of, you know, inclusion. Mind you, the old Friends had boy characters as well, but those weren't the main leads and therefore that's no longer allowed. Wouldn't want those poor underrepresented boys to feel like there's even a single theme without them in the limelight, would we? Also, just for fun, count the girl protagonists of the new Dreamzzz theme. If LEGO's so desperate for "diversity" (referring to gender equality, here) as you say, we should at the very least get a 50:50 split, shouldn't we? I could go on about this for some time but I won't because it's off-topic. But basically, LEGO absolutely does not treat girls as equal to boys, and I cannot really fathom why anyone would argue otherwise. I guess what you refer to is: Sure, LEGO in recent years has become somewhat better about including a token female minifigure in many sets (which is probably why Luna is in so many HP sets despite really not being an important character). But here we are talking about a set with an all-female minifigure line-up (minifigures, mind you, not mini-dolls). In a tradtional "boys'" theme like Superheroes. You really think that if this set fails - which it will, thanks to the pricing if nothing else -, the minifigure selection won't be blamed? Edited July 22, 2023 by brickbride
PRbrickbuilder Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 My Late thoughts on the CMF: - Storm is my favorite fig, and Goliath and She-Hulk complete my top 3; - I like Goliath's inclusion. Does this mean the microfig is actually Hank? Cool! - Including a sentinel BAF is very nice! Is it a new fig (head, torso and legs), or a brick built small Sentinel? We'll see! The only downside is that we have to get another Wolverine, so I wish he had been replaced by Cyclops, Rogue or Gambit; - I too wish we get X men 97 sets, in order to complete the roster. There's so many characters to be made!
From what I understand, together with Wolverine there is the head -which should be a standard head- and something to contain it (the translation was very strange). Instead, along with Beast and Storm, there are "pieces". It is not specified but I doubt if they are standard torso and legs. Right now I'm imagining a brick-build body with a minifigure head.. PS. since someone asks, I stopped talking about cinema because 1) I said everything I had to say and 2) because it's a forum dedicated to Lego and I don't want to take advantage of the patience of moderators and users who aren't interested in the subject :-p Edited July 22, 2023 by Legocentrico

Legocentrico Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 What are your highlights for a potential X-MEN line??? For me, in first place, there is the big figure of Apocalypse (very difficult), in second place the couple Mystique and Sabretooth (present in the preliminary of the x-mansion therefore probable) and finally I would like a new mold for Cyclops, a hairpiece with a molded visor, instead of the simple 2014 print, it would be a great piece! Oh, I know I'm boring with these x-men but with upcoming movies at risk of being postponed due to the strikes, I don't know what else to talk about! If we then find out that Lego has no plans to cover up the show, that would be a big blow :-D

Le figure sono Professor X, Wolveriene, Beast (Labcoat), Nightcrawler, Jubilee, Magneto, Mystique, Emma Frost e un bigfig Juggernaut. In the smallest set I always imagined Wolverine vs Sabretooth, with a motorbike or something.. Lego loves to put the most popular character in the cheapest set.. maybe without a hood or with a slightly different outfit, to make it different from the one/those inevitably contained in the more expensive sets. Sentinel and Blackbird (Hasbro calls it "x-jet" so probably Lego too) I think they all agree and they should absolutely be there! Instead of the Savage Lands, however, I would like to see a temple of Apocalypse, with the bigifigure, the tools to regenerate, etc. I love your idea of Attack on the X-Mansion with the Juggernaut bigfig (although I don't think we would get 2 bigfigs, so it would mean that there is no Apocalypse :-/), I don't have a preference regarding the structure, I trust Lego.. even if I hope something more complex than the leaked image :-P Also, we need to find a place for Sinister, who should be the main villain of the new season Edited July 23, 2023 by Legocentrico
