psqidexslizer Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 What no set pictures does to a megablocker. 😔
THELEGOBATMAN Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 The only thing I want to see from this wave is Lizard. Genuinely don't care about anything else tbh.
Legocentrico Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Anyway guys, we still don't have the damn pictures! I stayed 3 nights late waiting, that's enough. I hope someone leaks them in poor quality and the marketing geniuses shut up :-p

I just want to see the No Way Home set, X-Jet, set 76283 (Hopefully Quicksilver) and I also want to see if we get a new Venom design.
TobyAis Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Ngl while it doesn't matter that much cos we will get pictures soon enough.. I do be wondering how Harry Potter got everything revealed a few days ago already despite having a March release and we've only seen 4+ stuff from Marvel even tho the sets have a Jan release
THELEGOBATMAN Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 I actually find it quite impressive that LEGO has gotten that good at preventing leaks. We barely get low-quality leaks anymore.
The_Fiery_Rooster Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 I just saw this on Instagram, and I felt it's very pertinent to what's going on right now. Sadly, it's pretty bad news. I had forgotten about this, but turns out this year's January Star Wars sets weren't revealed until December 15th, (https://brickset.com/article/86955/2023-star-wars-sets-officially-revealed!) so it could actually be about 2 weeks until we see anything, if they don't leak beforehand, Oof.

If they don't leak beforehand is the big thing. They hadn't been revealed yet, but I believe that we actually saw them weeks beforehand as set leaks. For marvel, all we've gotten is an image of rocket from someone who apparently didn't buy him. I could see lego waiting until the 15th or so to reveal the sets, but I'd be shocked if we didn't have back-of-instructions images by then, if not in-hand images of someone picking them up. I know people've already found the 2024 star wars system set in stores. (Yeah, the one standard system set we're getting this wave...)
Legocentrico Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Boombrickz built Rocket, some good pictures on his Insta. He also posted the instruction booklet, unfortunately there is no trace of the other sets...
Clone OPatra Posted December 6, 2023 Author Posted December 6, 2023 That Rocket looks no less ugly and horrendous in their out of box, real life build pictures I'm afraid. The face is just so gnarly and freaky, like a horror version of Rocket.
psqidexslizer Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 (edited) Lego has spend too much time asking what they can turn into a buildable figure and not enough time considering if they should. The more I see that buildable Rocket, the more I side with the High Evolutionary. Edited December 6, 2023 by psqidexslizer
The_Fiery_Rooster Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Honestly, don't get all the Rocket hate. Considering what it is, I think it looks pretty good. Sad it doesn't have anything in the instructions though.

For me there are plenty of LEGO sets that fall into the former category, like good considering they're made out of LEGO but obviously not a great replica of what they're trying to represent. If they still look good themselves despite being a bit blocky or having that LEGO effect, that's usually ok with me. This Rocket's face just looks off-putting, so I can't justify it on the basis of it being LEGO, because plenty of LEGO things still look aesthetically pleasing.

I think a lot of the IRL objects or character sets fall into that category. Why buy a less functional, worse looking ,and sometimes more expensive version of something when you can get the 'real thing' instead? As I see it, Lego is banking on the novelty of 'it's made of Lego' and the 'relaxing building experience' to entice customers. I think we can agree how good it looks is subjective, but the fact that an actual action figure would look much better is far more objective. I just don't think that's the kind of market Lego wants to target with these. Still feel this one is up to par with a lot of the other ones Lego has made, like baby Groot or that Yoda from a few years ago. Maybe I'm just not seeing what you guys are? The face has some mechanical vibes, but other than that it has good expressiveness and color blocking. Whatever, not like I'm going to buy this anyways.

I always use this to out-pedant the pedants when they say the "Frankenstein was the doctor" thing 2. James Gunn would agree with you, however, if the high evolutionary realized what he's created and wants to take rocket back out of this world, I'm with him. That thing makes the lego yoda look like an upstanding member of society.
Lego Nostalgia Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 I feel like the buildable Chewbacca is more creepy looking.

I dont get the “nightmare fuel” comments every time a buildable fig comes out but i agree with you on the Chewbacca build. looks like he saw something he shouldn't and is traumatized! Lol Can next week arrive with the marvel reveals please lol tick-fricken-tock!!!
poisonbricks Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 Some more of the LEGO x Fortnite collab skins leaked, and there are some cool designs for characters like Rogue, Gambit, Psylocke, X-23, etc. I doubt we see them in sets (ones that are already getting figs like Rogue have different designs) but it's cool to see LEGO versions of these characters.
Legocentrico Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 Exabricks has posted some Marvel characters for Fortnite. I understand the difference between producing a minifigure and designing a skin, but it's still sad….
Kaijumeister Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 Really don’t get the need to delay revealing the January wave. The X-Jet and NWH sets are all I care about for now, but even so I’m not expecting to be blown away (though I hope to be wrong). Those Fortnite skins look brilliant, Marvel sets could really do with a slightly more generous budget for new moulds.

Some great hair designs i hope get made in future sets!
BusterNut31 Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 If they do add marvel figs into fortnite sets it will fall under the fortnite brand and therefore more budget for detailed figs. or am i wrong here? Just like how the marvel cmf is not under the marvel theme but CMF.

No Thanos, Iron Man, Wolverine, Cyclops, or Magneto but Psylocke and Domino and Gamora make the cut? And Gamora, Antman, Hulk, Black Widow, and Taskmaster are all comic inspired while Captain America, Captain Marvel, Hawkeye, and Kate Bishop are all MCU. Edited December 7, 2023 by psqidexslizer
