These two comments are spot on and echo my thoughts exactly. Overall a great set, just a shame the 2 figures are repeats when it's clearly meant to go alongside the statue of liberty set.

The Sandman set is great, first time I've wholeheartedly liked this new type of constraction figure. Good for display by itself and looks fun enough for play, but where it really shines is combining it with the final battle set from last year - it adds a LOT of mass and dynamic flavour to that model. Great way to add value to an older set without charging for a full remake. Totally agree- it fixes one of the biggest issues with the NWH set, which (I mean I guess is the lack of lizard and sandman) is the staticness of the build for such a dynamic scene. This definitely fixes it- Sandman feels like he's reaching out of the box in those images. 39 minutes ago, squiz18 said: Overall a great set, just a shame the 2 figures are repeats when it's clearly meant to go alongside the statue of liberty set. Yeah. Obviously it's not like they could have put in completely different figures, but they could have given electro a normal head or Peter some battle-damage. I can't see a way to do it without increasing the budget- lizard needs all his prints, and the sandman face also works excellently as a print- but that said, I think it wouldn't be insane to throw two more prints into this set. It's not like the $30 star wars pack where I'm shocked how much value they've got in it.
TobyAis Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 I'm still wondering why hasn't Lego revealed the sets yet, we're 3 weeks away for the 1st and half of them leaked.. what are they waiting for?
Kaijumeister Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 (edited) Set looks great all round. I do think Lego could have based this on the earlier scene from NWH just to give a full Sandman build and change up the Spidey variant to be his inside-out suit and Electro his pure energy form, but it’s no surprise budgets with anything Lego Marvel are so tight anyway. Plus it does make more sense to use this as a means to bolster the main NWH set and make it one of the best Lego Marvel display pieces this theme has had. Will be a day 1 buy and I’ll finally pick up the NWH Final Battle alongside this. Eagerly awaiting the reveal of the X-Jet! Also, that dynamic web rope piece looks AWESOME! You can attach minifigures to it but it’s still posable, wow. That’s a new piece right? Edited December 9, 2023 by Kaijumeister

May be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's just the rubber rope piece that's been used a few times recently for string lights and such (It's what the lanterns are fixed to in the new Lunar New Year restaurant set)
The_Fiery_Rooster Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 Sandman looks great, the face especially is less cursed than I thought when we heard it would use the face plate. I think it's because Lego made it look more monstrous and less human, although it is strange to see it's mostly dark tan. Lizard is also pretty good, for some reason I was expecting smaller eyes so it looks a little weird, but it's definitely high quality. My only problem is the price, I'm not sure it's a good value or not. It costs about the same as the buildable figures, but the main build is only half of one. Does the stand have the same value as the legs would have? I'm not sure about that yet. I also don't like the combo, I thought it would use the axle connectors under the scaffolds. Inside the head just doesn't feel right, so I might mod it to expand the base and put it on the right side. We'll see.

It's practically every Spider-Man minifigure's signature accessory.

The older element has studs on the ends and is a nylon rope with plastic bits, meaning you can't really pose it much due to gravity. The element in the new set has pin holes on each end, but more importantly is a flexible rubber, meaning you can get some more poses out of it. 7 hours ago, Kaijumeister said: Also, that dynamic web rope piece looks AWESOME! New for 2023, apparently- this is the first time they're using it for a spider-man minifigure, but weirdly enough not the first time it's been used in a lego spider man set- when I was looking at the sets it'd been in for the above comment, I saw they used it in the spider-man art set! I agree that this new piece is great for spider-man! The older one always annoyed me because of how much it would sag from gravity- it's more like a rope than a line of webbing, and unless you're wrapping someone with it, letting it just drop straight down, or have a good amount of tension on each end, it's gonna look weird. The new one will be able to do all the same stuff the older one does, except since it's rubber and not nylon, there are going to be a lot more poses you can get out of it. 6 hours ago, NXS7 said: Just 2 mechs, 2 Spidey sets and the X-Jet to go, how many more leaks do we reckon before we see official pics? My guess is the X-jet leaks and they just give up and reveal the evergreen sets. (Is that the right term? I mean like the sets that are just based on the general characters rather than a show or movie)

Instead of Integrated Suit Spider-Man we could've gotten his Upgraded or Black & Gold ones. Electro could've been in his pure energy form. And if not, it would've been a good opportunity for Green Goblin with his mask. Would it make sense in context of the scene? No. But it would've been a much better choice if they were going to sell it as an expansion to a 100€ set.

I think the figures are what really drive the price up - three characters has huge value to a kid especially. The closest I remember a constraction figure coming to having that many figs is Giant-Man... with one microfig. Not so much a selling point for me as an adult collector who owns two of those three figures already, but that's the case for lot of sets. I also honestly think there's something to be said for providing an environment for the action to take place in - it kind of suggests a story. Even outside of the context of the film, this little bit of scaffolding could mean a construction site, maybe the yellow beam sticking out is part of a radio tower that Electro's zapping energy from - little kick-starts like that can really assist imaginative play. I'm not sure that just a big Sandman by himself would have that same value. I'm not sure I'd even want a whole Sandman figure - he basically never assumes a giant humanoid sand form in the film, it's more a shifting mass of sand that has some humanoid features in the face, or hands, or that kind of thing. Definitely would've liked some more base with some more scaffolding for the price, but it's not the end of the world . Edited December 10, 2023 by poisonbricks
BusterNut31 Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 I can see the embargo lifting to set reviews by LAN members will come this week. Maybe wednesday and THEN they will reveal the sets.
Legocentrico Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 First look at War Machine… thank you Lego for giving us this revelation experience ^^

Mostly. Torso and legs both look great. But I’m gonna need to see more images of the head before I make up my mind on that.
Legocentrico Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 Does anyone familiar with comics recognize the model? I'm looking on google but I can't find anything
THELEGOBATMAN Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 It's always funny when LEGO decides not to reveal a wave of sets, and they almost immediately start leaking from multiple sources.
poisonbricks Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 Well, Magneto and the Venomized Green Goblin and Doc Ock leaked - nothing special about the Venomized figs but I'm so happy Magento has the ridiculous 97" suit
THELEGOBATMAN Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 I did not expect Magneto to use that suit, but I love it. Venomized Spider-Man villains were made with barely any effort or creativity. Guys how do we tackle Venomized Doc Ock? Give him cool new arms? A fresh new suit? Nah, just have half his torso and face printed with a copy-paste Venom design.

Yeahhh, I don't get it. You gotta make a new print anyway, why not go a little crazier with it? Red Goblin? Agent Venom? C'mon.
DaredevilFan Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 The minifigs look to be from box art. Hopefully we’ll see all sets leaked soon. Really happy with no way home set, it’s not perfect. But I remember leaving the cinema after the movie thinking how cool it would be to have the 3 Spider-Man and villains. So to have a complete set now is very exciting.
upliftingbricks Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 (edited) The venom figures feel like this forum is being trolled Do like the more comic/cartoon War Machine though Edited December 10, 2023 by upliftingbricks
The_Fiery_Rooster Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 Oof, venom ock is rough. The venom face and his normal face realy clash, and it really doesn't have enough 'venom' for it to work. Venom goblin, on the other hand, looks much better. They leaned much further into the venom look, and even gave him a unique venom face design rather than reusing the existing one like ock does. Shame the set he comes in probably won't be too good (if it is a recolor of the morbius set) The war machine mech actually looks great, the chunkier design these newer mechs has really fit the character, and it has a lot more detail than this year's offering. Makes me excited to see venom's.
poisonbricks Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 The Blackbird leaked! Overpriced, but man that thing looks awesome
The_Fiery_Rooster Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 Honestly, for the number of pieces it's a really good size, and it looks great too! My biggest qualm is the design for Magneto, but it comes from Xmen 97 so I don't think Lego had a choice for that one. Honestly, so far this marvel wave is looking pretty good, hopefully the remaining sets don't disappoint.
psqidexslizer Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 (edited) Blackbird looks great. Definitely an improvement over the original model. Magneto is alright. The figure definitely could have used two toned arms. And as cool as it is to get variants of him (even though that has never been my favorite costume, to put it lightly), I’d much rather get an updated version of his original costume. Also, is it just me, or does Cyclops have a different hairpiece than in the leak? Edited December 10, 2023 by psqidexslizer
