The_Fiery_Rooster Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 I'm happy to use this antman build as a giantman, but still bummed out we don't get any minifigs at all. Adding to the box conversation, it's worth pointing out that the box design changed this year. If you look at the infinity saga sets, they have Iron Man on the front, and don't have any minifig Iron Man graphic on the back (even though the mark 85 minifig already exists). Basically, this talk of what this means is pointless, since it seems the back of box minifig graphic isn't a thing anymore. Will we get another set? Hopefully, but who knows! About the other news, I don't mind lego making more action figures. It's not my thing, but they're well designed and seem fun so I don't mind. Finally getting a spoiler NWH set is awesome, but I'm slightly disappointed it's only the head and not the whole statue. Hopefully we still get the shield/torch arm to recreate those final few scenes!

benderisgreat Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 (edited) Well this set is somehow terrible a good at the same time. The build for Giant-man is good, but I'm baffled by decision of Lego not to make any minifigs for Qantumania. We haven't gotten normal suit Antman figure since 2018, and Wasp with updated helmet yet. And Kang is supposedly next Thanos level villain, yet they don't make him as well. If they really wanted to make this Giant-man figure why not include minifigs as well here? Ant-man, Wasp and Kang could have easily been included here. Or they could have made this buildable figure as separate set and make normal minifgure playset as well with minifigs! I don't even know when there will be our next chance to get Ant-man and Wasp minifigs since we aren't getting them in 2023. Edited February 13, 2023 by benderisgreat

I would be, if it wasn't based on forgettable Disney+ series The only ones I genuinely really like so far were The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki. WandaVision and Ms. Marvel went downhill after ⅓ of their episodes, Moon Knight was forgettable, Hawkeye and What If...? were bad, and She-Hulk was genuinely awful.

Hmmm, to me Falcon and Winter Soldier and Wanda Vision felt rather pointless. Sure they were a fun watch, but the characters were basically at the same point by the end of the series as they were at the start. Falcon got the shield in endgame, then refused it in the show only to pick it up again by the end. Zemo still in prison. Wanda still grieving, Vision still death. Sure there were the twins, but they were gone again by the end, plus Wanda went looking for alternatieve versions of them in MoM anyway and even that ultimately went nowhere. I feel like marvel just wanted to play it save, not changing the status quo too much as not to confuse the audience that only watch the movies. That's why I liked Moon Knight so much better, as it basically stood on its own and things were drastically different by the end. Hawkeye also managed to change a few things, although I felt like it got ultimately weaker by the end. I agree about Ms. Marvel, I think it started great, but around when they changed the setting it started going downhill. What if...? was for me the mostly forgettable one, barely remember any of the stories. And She-Hulk I haven't watched yet and I got kinda discouraged to start now xD.

She Hulk was good, I'd definitely give it a go, especially as you have watched most/all of the other MCU series. Hopefully we get a decent she hulk in the CMF

Never, in fact we don't even get that many toy boxes where a character drawn on the box is not eventually turned into a product
icm Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 It took 13 years for the Queen Amidala figure on the first Star Wars Episode 1 Lego boxes to be turned into a real minifigure. But that was a different era of box design.

We get endless cheap mechs and the most buildable figures which are all poorly designed, low quality, rush out quick to maximize profit type of sets. Even the non-mechs/buildable figures are also garbage... Morbius car, every single War of Wakanda and Love & Thunder set, Sanctum Workshop, Spiderman vs. Vulture... all garbage. Getting a good Marvel set is a rare occasion, and honestly feels like a fluke each time.

KevinMD Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 To revisit the “is there a second set” topic for a moment… With the movie being pushed up, maybe who all was involved was supposed to be more hush-hush, especially modok. Perhaps the original intention was to have the second set come out late summer or winter the following year. Who knows, we’re on an altered timeline now anyway.

That being said, she technically did appear that year, although in another outfit, so that probably shouldn't count.

We definitely get some massive clunkers like the D2C Hulkbuster, but we get a lot of good sets as well. Personal preference is obviously subjective, but many of the sets you listed are objectively good designs. The buildable figures are awesome other than the weird heads. The Morbius car looks like a great build from what I've seen. Shuri's Sunbird and the Goat Boat are both unique, well-built vehicles for kids to play with and they display well for us adult collectors. I do feel like Marvel minifigures are lazier and lower effort than licensed themes like Star Wars and Harry Potter, but the builds themselves (usually) aren't a mess, even if they're not perfect either.

I mean, we knew about Kang from at least early 2021 (IIRC a hollywood reporter report saying he was in quantumania came out well before Loki), I highly doubt they were gonna hide him. Modok, maybe.
Frizzlefry25 Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 I realize that Ant Man probably didnt sell well, and I have not been interested in many of the Marvel sets, but I had hoped to finally grab some Ant Man mini figs as I really enjoyed those movies. The first too movies just didn't have alot to make sets from. An Ant with some figs, and the Quantum ship and some figs were about as good as they probably could have done. Not the best sets, but now I wish I had picked one up! You finally have a bigger movie, and by the trailers, all sorts of vehicles, people, items etc in the quantum realm to make some interesting sets, and we get a regurgitated star wars buildable figure (which were always not the best) and a microfig! I mean yikes!

I agree that there have been some good designs in the past few years, but I also kind of agree with Articulo as I would argue that there is something wrong here. Not with the designs, but with the concepts. They've got the whole Marvel universe to play with, but instead half of what we get is just mechs, characters/animals with Venom slapped on them, or vehicles with Spider-Man slapped in them. There's a distinct lack of imagination at play. Saying that though, I personally wouldn't go so far as to dismiss everything as garbage because there are some gems in this theme and I think they're definitely becoming more frequent as time goes on. But unfortunately so is all the above.
marksable Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 When do we think the earliest we’ll see a Kang minifig is? When is most realistic? im hoping we get one from the CMF set since a version of him was in Loki. I’m just hoping I don’t have to wait until the next Avengers movie.

We might get a Kang mech in January 2024 or a polybag etc. Edited February 14, 2023 by kevkipo

Abbiamo visto il nostro primo bigfig Thanos nel 2016, due anni prima di Infinity War. because lego produced sets for "avengers assemble" and Thanos was a recurring villain. You're right that cmf might surprise us, but be warned, it might surprise us in the negative. I don't know how, but knowing lego… :-D As far as we know this is the movie where he has the biggest part until Kang Dynasty, so IN THEORY we shouldn't see it sooner. And I also believe that April 2025 is an optimistic date, because in two years it could be moved a thousand times lol
