NXS7 Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 A thought has just occurred to me, what about those accessory pack sets? They usually release in April, not sure when we would hear about them if they are still happening. Usually they only have one exclusive figure, so Ant Man is off the table, but could maybe be Guardians? Or NWH with either the missing Lizard figure or Green Goblin with his mask. I'm clutching at straws here, but just let me dream, brickbuilt Ant Man has really taken its toll on me

It’s like the designers go out of their way to make these sets as bad as possible. Remember the days when almost every set had a new character?! Actually baby Rocket mold is pre existing piece from Friends line. So we got no new molds for either Lyla or Cosmo.

Notice how on the box in this wave, we don’t get Cosmo or Kraglin or Gamora, who are the main characters of the movie, because we aren’t getting them in the sets?? So… Cassie?? I know I’m being annoying but I need to tell myself that buildable Ant-Man is not the only Quantumania set… Also, no minifigure versions of the box characters on the other side.

Great work Lego Honestly, this is the worst it’s ever been. - The Lizard being the ONLY main character excluded from the NWH set (and the only character without a prior minifigure ). - The High Evolutionary being the main villains of his film (and a niche character from the comics we’re likely to never get in a future set). Ditto with Cosmo. - Kang being the main villain of his film (and reportedly all of Phase V). Hell, even Cassie Lang is a new character and not the same 10-15 repeats we get year after year. But hey, let’s give the “kids” a 500th Doc Ock!

Darth Shadowthrone Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Imagine if the Marvels set is the best MCU 2023 we get this year That one would have to come with a good figure selection, right?

GoldenNinja3000 Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 This is definitely a new low for LEGO Marvel. How could Gamora be skipped?? I'm mad about no High Evolutionary as well but at least LEGO has an established pattern of skipping MCU villains. But Gamora is a huge character here, we know she rejoins the Guardians and wears that same suit based on the trailers, and her face print and hair piece were just in production for the CMF series. What a joke. The builds look pretty good overall. The Bowie is an awesome design but yeah, doesn't look like there's room for all the minifigures. It's nice to see it comes with a stand, though - a ship like this definitely needs one. That's an awesome feature that LEGO introduced for the Marvel line, I just wish they could get their act together with the minifigs. The $10 set is pretty perfect, I would've liked long legs for Groot but he seems to be relatively human-sized in the trailers so I'm not too bothered by it. He could've done with a new head mold but we know how LEGO is. Rocket's ship looks fine, just would've been more interesting with the High Evolutionary and Lylla as well.

The Marvels set just needs to have good Carol, Monica, and Kamala minifigures to be a success in that department IMO. Nick Fury and the main villain would be nice too. But then again, I expected us to get Scott, Hope, and Cassie minifigs for Quantumania and look how that turned out... Maybe The Marvels set is going to be a giant buildable Kamala figure to represent her embiggening abilities? And it'll cost $90 because LEGO throws in a side build and 5 minifigures.

hvader Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 If Lego continues skipping characters, this would mean No Leader, no Red Hulk, no probably many team members of Thunderbolts… etc Wow

THELEGOBATMAN Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Thsi wave is definitely baffling, because the sets themselves look extremely good, but the omissions are absolutely ridiculous. The smallest set has a surprisingly good build for a 10€ set, I miss those kind of sets. Rocket's ship is really well built, and actually feels fresh. The Bowie looks awesome, and looks like nothing we ever got from LEGO. The minifigures themselves are good too, they even have leg printing. But the minifigure selection is quite possibly the worst I've ever seen from LEGO Marvel. Cosmo should've been included in the smallest set. High Evolutionary and Lylla should've been included in the Baby Rocket set — they are literally connected to Rocket's origin, what a ridiculous decision not to include them. Gamora should've been included in the Bowie. Come on LEGO, she's one of the most important Guardians!
hvader Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 (edited) To all of us who complained about Lego Marvel in 2021 and 2022 At least the fig selections were good and we even got repeats of the main villains We were spoiled, and we didnt even realize it Edited February 15, 2023 by hvader

Like I get that this situation isn't great and should be rectified but a rage post should not be your first interaction with a new community. That's some weird tone and community gatekeeping. If they get mad enough to post it means they feel strongly about it enough to share their opinions. Better than sloughing through 500 pages of the same people making the same content-anemic posts tbh. The builds of the two ship sets look really good to me but the actual superheroes and main draw to the sets are severely lacking to a ridiculous degree. I do feel for the designers, as they must have a really dire budget for these regardless of the rising price and probably are forced with some hard decisions on who to include if they're even given materials for all the new characters. A handful of prints (some of which are pointless face variants) throughout three sets is just not enough. It's also possible Marvel merchandising is pushing toys of just the protagonists like usual, but for building sets that contain plot elements and specific scenarios from the movie they should have an exception here. I understand the team takes priority but then maybe include the whole team... allot more necessary print budget! I see no point in getting these myself as I have all the guardians, more than one new character would have pushed me over the edge for the nice model of the Bowie. Please lego gods let the NWH be real to rescue 2023.
THELEGOBATMAN Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 I agree that this year is an absolute new low for LEGO Marvel. Since 2012, we got a lot of terrible builds and lacklustre minifigures. But they never disappointed us so much in minifigure selections. It's frustrating, because they are producing things like a 3000+ piece Captain America shield, and yet they won't even give us some of the main characters from the final Guardians of the Galaxy movie, any characters from the newest Ant-Man movie, or even all villains from the biggest Spider-Man movie ever (and yet they gave us another Doctor Strange and MJ).
