PARed717 Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 As a longtime Marvel comic reader and collector of the LEGO Superheroes subtheme since launch, all I want/need is new characters. Is that really too much to ask? The Star Wars subtheme can get the members of the Cantina Band but we can’t even get the main villains of the film!

Top 10 scenes captured moments before disaster 🤣. But on a serious note, I like the design of the sets. I think they look good especially the Bowie, I don’t have any problems with it. I think the omission of Gamora is mind blowing though, I mean shes a major plot point for quills character lol. Really feels like lego is shifting from the superhero scene with these upcoming waves. Less attention to detail, less minifig sets. Seems like a bit of a decline.

VincentLord Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 I really do not care that much about minifigures so I am unfussed about that aspect, but “LEGO nail the donut wings on the Bowie but mess up the fuselage” was not on my bingo list. It’s so long compared to its width and to the rest of the vehicle, I can only assume it has something to do with stability.
SpiderFan44 Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 The more I'm thinking about it the more there might be a possibility that Lego is simply just suffering from Disney's will to limit spoilers (at least for the sets coming along new movies) or because conceptions and set greenlighting comes very early in the process. Or, yes, lack of part / printing / production capacity. I see lots of disapointed people that believed in rumors and speculations, I don't blame, I feel the same. For NWH, I'd say we might get less than what's being reported, would be though, I know, and even if I can imagine a "News Van" GWP with JJJ and Lizard I know it's just wishfull thinking.

doclord Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 If High Evolutionary didn't get a Funko then maybe he just wasn't included in the merchandise. Adam Warlock IS an antagonist so he serves as the villain for the sets. LEGO ignoring both Kang and MODOK when they both have toys is the bigger sin, IMO.

See, that would actually make a great set - a brand new character and a build that makes sense/works with other themes - so there’s no way it gets made. :(

It’s not Disney limiting spoilers here. There was never big spoilers about either Antman 3 or GoTG 3 like Endgame or NWH. Marvel showed a lot of footage and infor about both movies at Sdcc in July 2022! So Lego new well in advance how Kang or High evolutionary looked like in movies. Here it looks more like penny pinching and laziness on Legos part.

High Evolutionary is still the biggest sin, IMO because (i) we’ve had two MODOKs in the past and (ii) he’s unlikely to appear in any other sets, unlike Kang. I’ll concede that he’s a pretty obscure character but this was probably the one shot collectors had of him getting a minifigure. That really bums me out.

But how can they exclude the ONLY unmade character (and a main villain of the film) in favor of ANOTHER Doctor Strange, Ned, and MJ. Lizard has been top of my list of unmade Spidey villains for years. It's extremely disappointing, especially when, as many people have said before, the new CMF dinosaur tail piece would work perfectly for him. We all know Neds only included to give him the Cloak of Levitation The biggest positive though is a new Electro. Yes we've had him before but it's been 9 years, and it might hopefully mean we get him in A comic book set (like how Mysterio was everywhere after FFH). Should've been the same case for Lizard though Also welcome to Eurobricks
Surge Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 (edited) they really should have just put the adult rocket in the bowie or even put him in the $10 set instead of star lord, then put high evolutionary and maybe lylla in the rocket set, wouldve made it much better Edited February 15, 2023 by Surge

High Evolutionary was (publicly) announced at the 2022 SDCC and Kang the year before. NWH hit theaters 18 months before set release and all of its characters have been used in marketing for the last year. This can’t be an issue of concept art or spoilers.
thebricksbear Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Somebody already said it, but it really sucks that Marvel sets can't have the fig selection that Star Wars does. I know its the biggest theme but they're literally printing "random person of X alien race" at this point, and Marvel can't even have the antagonists. Maybe buildable figs are selling quite a bit better than we thought, and theyre moving away from minifig sets.

I agree on Electro - it’s been a decade since we got the Ultimate universe version so a mainline figure isn’t a bad addition. Hopefully we’ll get a mask mold if they want to do the classic comic version, like you said. Still waiting for a *proper* Shocker minifigure too. Although accurate to the movie, “guy in leather jacket and jeans” just doesn’t do the original character justice. Edited February 15, 2023 by PARed717

I'm in a toy shop. I see shelves with LEGO. I wonder which Marvel set I should choose — a buildable 40€ Kang figure, an 80€ Kang helmet, or a 200€ buildable Kang's Time Chair. No more sets for this movie are present.
Mandalorianknight Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Uh.... what. Ok, look. The minfig selection is kind of annoying, sure. No high evolutionary is wild, and groot is a very lame attempt to recreate his look in gotg 3. Also, no cosmo? Really? On the bright side, the Bowie and other ship look fine... but... WHAT? What is that $10 set, there's nothing there. It's some grey walls with stickers and two figs. That's laughable.
Kaijumeister Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 I don’t like to sound negative, but this lineup seems extremely half baked. I do like the presence of a low price point set, Rocket’s ship is wonderfully unique and the colour scheme of the Bowie is gorgeous, but overall the wave is so…disappointing? Not sure what’s happening with this theme this year, because right now the only thing I’m looking forward to is the Statue of Liberty Battle. The first Guardians lineup in 2014 was so cool, especially that Milano. I wish the sets accompanying the final film in the series would’ve been better.

Even that might be too optimistic at this rate. Maybe a $40 buildable Carnage figure, an $80 buildable Mjolnir (re-released), and a $200 buildable Cap’s Shield with Venom goo on it. One set with Captain America and an Outrider. He still doesn’t have leg-printing. Edited February 15, 2023 by PARed717

PRbrickbuilder Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 I need to divide my comments on the Gotg sets in two parts, a general one and an anecdote of mine: 1) The builds are good (better than the figure selection), and it is nice the uniforms have leg and toe printing, but WHERE IS COSMO? You know, the dog! 2) My only guardians figs are Rocket, Groot and Gamora. Why LEGO, why did you put all the guardians I do not have in the largest and more expensive set? Why?

GoldenNinja3000 Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 If the High Evolutionary is missing from all of the wave 1 merchandise then I think his exclusion makes sense. I'm surprised to hear there's no Funko of him since they'll make anyone! To me the biggest problem is Gamora. Her exclusion is absolutely ridiculous. It's like if LEGO skipped Black Widow for the Endgame sets.
