Ha, same. Here I was thinking Lego had done a decent job until I saw that picture. Tbh though, I think it's quite an ugly ship anyway so I'm not too fussed. I'm just happy about the £9 set. Two good figures for a very cheap price, plus some extra parts is alright by me. As for Gamora, it's a shame they didn't include her, but I saw a good purist of the video-game version using Proxima Midnight's torso, so now I know we're not getting an update I may just try and make that.

Gradually liking the Bowie more and more. Wanted a bigger priced one but I get what they do these 100$ sets with a ton of figs. Cant wait for Antman either to punch my Chitauri Leviathan! I suspect when we see the NWH set we'll realize not much budget was put into it at all. $100 feels like a price they thought they could get for just the figs, and then just threw in an obligatory side build. I think LEGO knows people will buy it for the figs alone and that's why we're not getting a more expensive version. $100 sits at the perfect intersection of "pricey but accessible".
Meaf Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Maybe it wouldn't have made much difference but I think the stand really hurts the Bowie's size. If they'd incorporated those parts into the ship it might've felt more substantial.
kevkipo Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 It's a bit odd that in 2014 I could get the Nova Corp ship, which arguably is the same size as Rocket's ship, with 3 minifigs instead of 1,5, and it would cost me half of this set... Inflation?
Legocentrico Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 For the end-game Lego had made the ironman polybag, maybe we will have a gamora polybag? since it can be assembled with existing pieces just like quantum-ironman… However I am puzzled, we are at the April releases and we have not seen even a new mold, I also have doubts that the budget is all in NWH since apart from a possible mask of Electro there would be no need for new parts…

Inflation? Well, no. The Nova Corp ship cost 25€ for 196 pieces, while the Baby Rocket ship costs 35€ for 330 pieces. Nothing's really changed. It's all, more or less, the same. As for the minifigures, nothing to do inflation — LEGO just chose to include only two versions of Rocket.
ToaDraco Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 (edited) I love these sets, almost makes up for how disappointing the Antman set is ---almost. The only major disappointment is no High Evolutionary. Gamora probably should have been in there somewhere but I honestly don't know how much of her we'll get in the movie and we've had plenty of Gamoras in the past. I really like the design of the Bowie and I really like baby Rocket's ship. I wish we had gotten a new raccoon mold for him though instead of reusing the Friends piece but at least the printing makes it look a little better. For $35, this set really should have included the High Evolutionary. And an otter! The Guardian's base is a perfect little $10 set. What little of it there is looks good and I love the new Groot figure. It's very similar to the one from the Benatar but for tiny fraction of the price. I love that they recolored the Prince of Persia spikey shoulder piece for him too. Edited February 16, 2023 by ToaDraco
Nylock Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 The more minifig exclusions we get in these sets, the more I hope that the CMF series will have them included. I know Lego is only using it to produce the D+ characters, but they really could make an entire series out of ones they’ve skipped. Heres hoping that at the very least we get a daredevil fig. But we can probably can expect shehulk, Moonknight, Kate Bishop, Ms Marvel, New Loki, Mobius, 4-5 What if S2 and one of either : Daredevil, Hawkeye, IronHeart (I think her series comes out around the cmf release so maybe). Personally I hope we get like 1 or 2 What if, but I’m going off of series 1.
Lego_ofme Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Looks like both sides of the cockpit detach to make smaller ships - like the one Mantis is flying around in on the image where the guardians are jumping from the ship at Adam Warlock. Interesting play feature. I think I prefer the Bowie ship on the image on the box as opposed to the other images - seems wider and chunkier at that angle.

Tbh I'd prefer Cmf to just be Mcu based not D+ specifically.

We're really living in the darkest timeline. Lego drove me to pad printed customs by not making characters! Lego won't give us a Cosmo/Kingpin/Elektra/Hela/Odin/(literally you name it)?? "Fine. I'll do it myself." I like your username. And I too have taken something of an interest in custom figures; around the time of “Black Adam”’s release, I found decals for the titular character online, and shortly thereafter found and searched for others like Mystique, Sabertooth, etc. They look pretty good, they seem to be made with care and love for the characters, and they fill spaces currently empty.
spiderfan2000 Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 I'm still hoping that the upcoming CMF will have 18 minifigures like the Disney Anniversary series, considering there should be more shows to cover compared to the first series.
SuperSquidman Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 (edited) One neat thing I noticed about the 2023 Marvel box art is that it’s reminiscent if not a newer version of the 2012-2018 box art; the 2012-2018 box art was red (with maybe a bit of black here and there) and it just said “LEGO Marvel Superheroes” with an image of the title of a film or cartoon in the bottom right corner and either a piece of concept art (or a “LEGO-ized” version thereof) of one of the film’s or cartoon’s characters in either the top right corner (in the case of at least the 2012, 2013, and 2014 sets) or the bottom right corner above the title (like with Thanos on the 2018 Infinity War box art), but in 2019 it was changed to film or cartoon-specific box arts (as seen with the 2019 Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Endgame, and Far From Home sets) which was kept until I think the last wave of 2022 if I’m not mistaken, with the 2023 Marvel box art though, the Ant Man buildable figure and GOTG Vol. 3 box arts have a general LEGO Marvel box with the film’s title and concept art of said film’s characters on the right side of the box. That’s pretty neat to me really! (Irrespective of set quality) Edited February 15, 2023 by SuperSquidman

The Black Widow and Captain Marvel boxes were excellent, IMO. It's nice to have consistency across the line but it's also nice to have solo movie sets stand out more.
LegendaryArticuno Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Another observation and missed opportunity about the Bowie, the rings are also supposed to fold in flight mode. I have my doubts we'll ever get a UCS Bowie, Milano remake seems more likely. Pro/Cons: + Adam Warlock - Doesn't resemble the actual ship - Made up features vs. actual features - No Gamora, no High Evolutionary, and green Drax
Rwbricks Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 In regards to the Lizard in the NWH set, correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t it reported that there was “no word on Lizard yet?” Or have we gotten confirmation that he’s not included? Given that it was just a blanket description of the set, further information could reveal that he is included, especially as I don’t think he’s been officially ruled out. I remember Luke’s X-Wing from 2021 was only rumored to have Luke and R2, and I don’t think we learned about Leia and Dodonna until pictures were leaked. I am not a leaker, so do not take this as any confirmation. Maybe I’m just being too hopeful, but we’ll have to see.
PARed717 Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 (edited) As LEGO seems to be targeting a younger and younger audience, it’s crazy to me that two of the GotG sets don’t have an antagonist. High Evolutionary really should have been in the Rocket set and maybe one of the Sovereign in the Benatar set, given its inflated price point and reused figure torsos/legs. Even feels weird for the $10 set, regardless of the low price point. I’m seeing an alarming trend in reduced number of minifigures in a lot of these sets. In regard to the Morbius set, when is it not standard to get 3 figures in a $20 set, especially with a $5 price increase?! This quality drop is getting nuts. Edited February 15, 2023 by PARed717

Huigberts Builds Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 After watching the "Show off the suit" video lego put out for the buildable ant-man I somehow like it even less. I thought the build was oke from the images on the box, but seeing it in other poses suddenly makes it look horrible to me. That helmet looks so off from other angles.

We definitely get some massive clunkers like the D2C Hulkbuster, but we get a lot of good sets as well. Personal preference is obviously subjective, but many of the sets you listed are objectively good designs. The buildable figures are awesome other than the weird heads. The Morbius car looks like a great build from what I've seen. Shuri's Sunbird and the Goat Boat are both unique, well-built vehicles for kids to play with and they display well for us adult collectors. I do feel like Marvel minifigures are lazier and lower effort than licensed themes like Star Wars and Harry Potter, but the builds themselves (usually) aren't a mess, even if they're not perfect either. Well on the bright side of being very cynical/critical... you need a lot of patience but get to save a lot of money! While I have lowered my standards and bought badly designed sets (for the minifigs), I've regretted each time I've done so.
