And secondly this  is rumored to be another MCU based series. I’m not going to act dumb, I’m aware the MCU has so many projects going on right now that won’t be fully covered by just the sets released annually so a CMF series is a perfect way to fill some gaps. That said my bias remains towards comic designs and all things considered that has felt a tad neglected in recent years.

You know, I think I might have switched onto your side. I've never read a single superhero comic, but at this point, other than maybe a couple things (Avengers Compound/Tower, GotG, and Ant Man) I would vastly prefer stylized comic sets to MCU. I feel like we could probably get some rather interesting designs, and I absolutely love the idea of more Marvel modulars, which I'm not sure the MCU can give us many more of.

It's Morbin' time!

I purchased set 76244 (Miles Morales vs. Morbius) today for the sole purpose of making the Morbile out of it. I removed the lower set of headlights, the printed front logo slope was replaced with plain version. It looks like a Morbillion bucks right now, but it will be better later when I on change the canopy around a bit using this part. (This will happen when I order my next Bricklink order later in January.) I'm doing this just to differentiate it from the Miles Morales Spiderman version of the vehicle.

Just thought I'd let you all know, so you can do it to your copy of the set if you so desired.

I wonder if the CMF series will include Kang. The statue that appeared at the end of Loki Season 1 has roughly the same design as Kang's Quantumania suit, so I could see us getting Scott, Hope, Cassie, and MODOK in 76256, then Kang in the CMF as a Loki Season 2 figure.

Would probably depend on the extent of Kang’s role in the Season 2. It would be cool to get Kang and Mobius as the two Loki figures (assuming the show gets two figures again) as opposed to another Loki variant.

With What If. . . ? Season 2 delayed (possibly until 2024), I think that we will get more than two Minifigs for Loki

The same account who claimed What If...? drops next year also claimed Secret Invasion won't premiere until May, which makes me think Loki won't drop until late Summer. We could get figures from Season Two, but I think it's unlikely. Unless they revisit the previous shows, in which case we could get He Who Remains, Mobius, etc.

I suppose they have half a year or so, but do you think they'll design new figures? (We also don't know if lego knows yet, since the delay hasn't been announced, only rumored. I feel like if they told the merch companies about the delay we'd have some more leaks that it was delayed by now) How long before the CMF release did we know the Gamora episode wasn't coming last time?

There's still a ton of unused What-If characters they can use from Season 1. These 3 would probably be some of the most powerful beings represented in minifig form :P

1. Infinity Ultron

2. Strange Supreme

3. Zombie Scarlet Witch

There's also Killmonger, post-apocalypse Blackwidow and Hawkeye, etc. We need more What-If!

No we don't

I swear that if they waste one of the twelve spots on Zombie Wanda I'd never buy another LEGO Marvel set.

But really, nearly everyone here complained about the fact that half of the first series was basically What If...?. Not to mention we also got two sets on top of that.

I personally loved all the What If… figures even though they took over most the cmf. They felt more comic booky to me which I prefer for my Marvel sets

I think the What If figures are in a weird position where there are both not enough and too much at the same time.

There need to be more to really build any sort of meaningful variant collection, but simultaneously they're a bit of a waste of space when there's so much else that could be chosen.

I'm on the side of hoping they're not included. If we were going to revisit topics already covered in series 1 I'd really like a red/white costume Falcon.

Although I'd be more than content with all the main characters from the series since then.

I'd also be very much up for a comic CMF like @cosmic, but I wouldn't be surprised if that ever happened and it was just comic versions of your mainstays like Cap, Iron Man and Thor.

I agree with your wider point, but I will definately bring this up if she shows up in the CMF.

Really the best case scenario is What If figures as the entire CMF, with the disney+ shows just actually each getting a set or two. This shouldn't be too much of an issue anymore either, now that they seem to have re-oriented to only 3 shows a year.

LMAO but imagine if she did. That would be so wild – out of all the characters and all the series, Zombie Wanda

But to be fair, I'm barely buying LEGO Marvel anymore. Phase 4 has made me lose interest in the MCU as a whole. I just care about a single project here and there. Still haven't seen Wakanda Forever, and I'm torn about whether I should see Quantumania (Jonathan Majors is literally the only factor in my decision).

Last year I bought only two sets – The Goat Boat (great set, mediocre movie) and the Advent Calendar (good set, great special).

This year the only wave I'm interested in is the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 one.

Yeah, that would have been a good workaround.

Unfortunately at this stage, most of the shows I'd personally like to see coverage of are behind us.

But if a What If CMF shows up in the future with Yellowjacket and Howard the Duck I won't complain.

I feel like Michael in the Godfather part 3. "Just When I Thought I Was Out, They Pull Me Back In!". I feel like 2021 had a few solid projects alongside some rough ones, and then 2022 was just an overflowing pipeline of sludge with only 1 or 2 good projects. I really hate this quantity over quality approach, (what I'm worried about most is that they're gonna continue to break Daredevil's character in the new show), hopefully they'll fix it. I know they're delaying some projects, but even the amount of 2023 stuff feels too much, and there's just so much sludge still on it's way. (There's stuff like Echo where it's got potential but is still a weird choice, stuff like Ironheart and Vison where it feels like they're just trying to use connections to established characters, and stuff like Agatha where I have absolutely no idea what they're thinking.). But then we get stuff like NWH, or like you say, how Quantamania seems to be shaping up, and it's really annoying because so long as some of their projects are good, they can keep pumping out sludge with no consequence.

I imagine most of these projects are either adaptations of popular stories or set-ups for future ones. Echo -> Daredevil, Agatha & Vision Quest -> Scarlet Witch/Children's Crusade, Ironheart -> Magic & Champions/YA.

But the problem is, them setting things up doesn't feel like it matters at all. When they set something up in Phase 2, you knew when to expect to see the fallout.

Now, it's like... Kate Bishop appeared. When is she gonna appear next? Who knows. Same for Moon Knight. Same for She-Hulk. Same for Shang-Chi. Same for Eternals.

Doctor Strange has a new eye, and Charlize Theron is Clea. When are we gonna see them next? Uhh... somewhere somewhen, I guess.

Thor has a child, and Hercules is after him. When will we see how that continues? Before or after 2026?

It's all just an incohesive mumbo-jumbo at this point. Nothing really matters, because they took a full-on quantity approach. Setting things up doesn't work anymore, because we genuinely have no idea where and when to expect any sort of continuation.

I'm speaking broadly about the projects themselves, not just the characters in those projects (I agree these credit-scenes are getting pointless). For example, an Agatha show wasn't on my bingo card, but I'm sure there's more to be announced that'll get audiences more excited. And just because we don't know what to expect, that doesn't mean it's in-cohesive or meaningless.

Besides, my main purpose here is to see and discuss neat looking Marvel figures, not argue Marvel's quality issues.

I‘m hoping for as few What if…? minifigs as possible, but I‘m bracing for them taking up around half the slots again. Sure, the second season might get delayed significantly, but LEGO set production just isn’t flexible enough to account for that, not even for „just“ a CMF series :shrug_oh_well: Designing new parts and creating the moulds for them takes a long time I imagine, and each CMF series introduces multiple of them.

I also feel they wouldn‘t skip the opportunity to have variants of classic characters in the roster, like Spidey or Zombie Cap in S1. Maybe Iron Man and Thor variants this time?

From the outset it was known that boxes would phase in for autumn 2023. The first two series this year will be the last in bags. Completely agree with your sentiments, as I'm sure many others do. I won't be buying any more CMF at retail once boxes come in.

I would at least hope the figures are in some sort of bagging besides the outer box. If I remember correctly vidiyo had the figs in plastic bags inside of the outer boxes. While this would be a huge contradiction seeing as the entire point of switching to boxes is to be environmentally friendly so keeping plastic bags inside would defeat the purpose because at that point just sell them in bags to begin with. But anyways while it would make this entire situation feel ridiculous it would be nice for them to have bags inside lol so when people buy them to sell on BrickLink we can essentially still have a sealed figure. You were able to still get a sealed vidiyo fig on the aftermarket if you disregard the larger outer box being opened. Either way I guess I’m going to start getting figs from BrickLink. I already did but seems that will now be the primary method. Maybe if sales tank they revert back to bags hopefully.

I agree. I would still love to see the MCU get love and receive sets and such. I would just like to see more of the comic side as well. MCU fans can keep getting what they get, but something more than just a few $15 mechs and 1 morbius set a year would be nice. There is a lot of ground to cover for Lego comic based Marvel sets. But I personally want a classic comic Scarlet Witch, Silver Surfer, and Squirrel Girl the most at the moment. And then there’s variants! Classic , contemporary and legacy variants of so many characters! Throw us a bone is all I ask Lego :pir-huzzah2:

In the midst of all the Batman sets, they released a classic Batmobile. I hope they could perhaps consider this for Marvel. Kinda getting tired that all sets are MCU based with no reference to the original.

That doesn't make it worth it, though, IMO. A show shouldn't exist as set-up.

Same here. Though I feel like even if sales lower, they'll keep em. Lego's one of the biggest toy companies in the world right now, and at this point the brownie points for being "environmentally friendly" with the packing is probably worth enough to them to offset any losses from it. And they'll probably also bank on most people eventually succumbing and just buying boxes.

??? What exactly do you mean? DC's The Batman sets are the most recent system sets for that theme (besides the 4+ batcycle, but I assume that's not what you meant.) If you mean the 1966 batmobile, yeah, in 2021 they released quite a few batman sets on older films, but up until that point they released a wealth of comic based sets anyway.

A comics-based CMF series or some more non MCU Marvel sets would be awesome. We are sorely lacking X-men, and I would love some ultimate spidey stuff (I want Spider-Woman, Electro and we haven't gotten MJ for years.)
