Ok. We get this, but is Batman famous for used boxes?  what's the point of wasting pieces and sacrificing shape to get ONE BOX?  if it was a bat-signal I wouldn't be satisfied, but it would make sense: batman uses the bat-signal.  I googled anything that associates Batman with some box, couldn't find it.  it is out of context

maybe lego thought it was the only way to stage a cave-like environment, but then make sense of it, make it look like something batman related.  a bat-signal, a Riddler box, I don't know…

and everyday I see other themes getting sets done right: why isn't rivendell inside a box?  ninjago is receiving the fourth module of a wonderful city, why can't we have gotham modular?  the little mermaid also has a great set built on a seashell.  Super Heroes collectors have to settle for scrap projects

I’m still excited for this :excited: Not sure what the box-like design will be like, as I have a hard time picturing it, but I‘m sure it‘s gonna look awesome on display.

And the minifig lists sounds great! A Christopher Walken minifig is more than welcome

Now that‘s a callback :laugh_hard:

I‘ll pass judgement once the set is revealed. Shred it to your hearts‘ desire, but at least wait until we actually see it

The Angry Videogame Nerd, he was one of the first chanels on youtube to review videogames. The quote is a direct reference to his first crossover with the Nostalgia Critic.

Used to be really funny when I was a tween, no idea how well it holds up, but he still has a banger theme song.

I pretty much learned the language by watching his videos!

@Legocentrico I think you're focusing on the box too much. I don't think it has a purpose other than to enclose the cave. If the gimmick is the bat symbol shaped hole then whatever that hole is in shouldn't be too convoluted. Who knows, perhaps the box is decorated in some way to explain the form. I'm not worried about the box, it's the overall concept that doesn't excite me. I missed out on the 1966 Batcave and frankly I'd rather have that then whatever this is going to be.

The box constrains the whole project, maybe that's why I seem to focus on it.  In the end I'm just disappointed :-( then maybe it will also be a good set, but I think it will remain a great wasted opportunity, I think we agree on this

I'm still hyped for the Keaton batcave, it is my most anticipated set of this year (even surpassing the NWH Spoiler Set. With that being said:

Max Shreck as a minifig?? I'm in heaven. Also I assume the second Batsuit included is his '89 suit that comes in the other 2 smaller Keaton sets. The box gimmick is interesting but I loved the mario "?" box so I'm sure I'll like this one even more

The whole box with symbol is interesting.  I assume it's to move the cave with ease and allow for better display options,  I mean as mentioned before just look to the Mario cube released.

I still have hopes for this set,  as I assume the detail in sections of the batcave will be great to view.

I find it strange that no vehilce will be supplied,  not even the bat ski boat, and the minifiguare selection is a low count,  but I'm just greatful that the theme is getting something,  and hope this is the start of great sets to come,  with the leaked BAS Artstyle set hopefully getting a release next year and then we hopefully get a truly detailed D2C arkhan asylum and future sets based off the James Gunn Movies.

Time will tell!

So many wonderful toys!

I mean maybe in person, and actually seeing this, it’s a good set. But on paper, it’s awful! Seven figures? Seven figures what year is this?! Like what? What is this a Star Wars set? Why would you put the cave in a giant box, who wants that? You’re using so many pieces for that—just make the cave. How is a parts intensive box more interesting that just the cave itself? Do the vehicles fit inside the box? Like if the box is closed do the vehicles still fit inside? Because if they don’t, then what’s the point of the box? If it’s not also cute carrying case what’s the point? What is this mystery box—why is this mystery box?!

Maybe the set comes with like a crisp hundred dollar bill inside, I don’t know. Why would you not just cut out the box, drop 1000pcs and get this thing down to $300. Everything is so unnecessarily excessive now.

What are these choices they make no sense!

I don’t know.

I don’t know anything anymore!

The design team here is really pushing for some new innovative designs! I feel like there is so many good MOCs out there,  they have to find something new!

Still hopeful!

I'm moving on to my first copium theory where Lego will repurpose the set into a Keaton Batman set and release it alongside the Batwing in the summer because there's ZERO chance that they'll permanently scrap releasing a 1989 Batmobile as a wide release set, especially with the D2C Burton Batcave on the way. However this time, the set definitely won't include the Flash and maybe it'll be swapped out for someone else from the Keaton movies like Nicholson's Joker again or something.

I should think about buying a lottery ticket.

While it sucks that that Flash figure will basically never see the light of day now (and whoever owns that leaked torso/head should definitely hold onto it), the Batmobile was always the main selling point for me, so the set being retooled into a Batman '89 set is just a bonus. Makes me wonder how long Lego had this set planned as a substitute for 76221 since that was listed on websites like Walmart for months. And even though it's 99% likely that Lego will reuse the same Nicholson Joker for both sets, it'd be great if they had an exclusive Joker design for either of them. The Batwing set could have the outfit that he was wearing during the Gotham 200th anniversary parade with the buttoned up jacket while the Batmobile set could be based on his appearance at the Flugelheim Museum scene (that was the only time he was ever near the Batmobile in the movie anyways).

Now the D2C Batcave minifigure selection is more of a letdown. Only 7 minifigures for that big of a price...wow. This was a golden opportunity to pull a D2C Sanctum Sanctorum and sneak in SOME Flash figures with the regular Flash that was going to be in the Batmobile set, Supergirl, and maybe even the second Barry with the makeshift Batman Returns Flash suit if Lego really wasn't going to make any sets for The Flash at all. Heck, I would've taken some of those alternate Batsuits as well. I just hope that the second Batman figure that's included is the Batsuit from The Flash much like how the UCS Millenium Falcon included both young and old Han Solo, because if it's the '89 suit again then that's the biggest waste of a minifigure slot I've ever seen in a set. The cave build better be the greatest looking Batcave ever, and also I'm pretty sure that Brick Clicker meant that the cave will include areas for the Batmobile/Batwing to be displayed and not that they're included at the same time that they're being sold as individual sets. Lego's not THAT dumb...right? In any case, bring on the pictures because I think we're all more than ready to see them.

This year has underwhelmed me.

No sets for Shazam: Fury of the Gods

No sets for The Flash after thinking we'd at least get one.

The Keaton Batman sets seem like a mixed bag, with the vehicle sets at least sounding interesting to pick up, but the Batcave sounding like a pass.  I really wish they had gone with a comic or TAS version of the Batcave at such a large price point.

No Blue Beetle sets that I've heard about

Maybe an Aquaman set if we're lucky

I'm really hoping 2024 can impress me.  A full TAS wave to accompany the Skyline set would be a solid choice if they are determined to maintain a Batman-centric approach.

Since 2025 will probably have a big marketing push with the new DCU, I'm hoping 2024 will be an opportunity for more callback sets. 1966 TV series, Keaton-verse, and maybe even the Animated Series (the recent survey leaks prove that it's at least being considered). Think of the 2015 Justice League sets which were made to plug a hole after Batman v Superman was delayed a year. Lego will want something on shelves to keep the DC Superheroes brand alive (if only to keep the licence so they can profit if/when the DCU is a huge hit). 2024 will be their last chance in a while to focus on non-DCU sets, so if they want to make B:TAS set(s), it's gonna be next year or never.

(Okay, I'd love a whole DCAU / Justice League Unlimited range of sets, but let's be realistic, it's gonna be JUST Batman.)

@brickteasers on Instagram posted a blurry image of The Flash Batmobile set and it is most likely fake but it kind of looks real.

It's literally the batmobile from the gwp from a few years ago.

That and the fact that the proportions of the art are incorrect in relation of the position of the box.

Just to add to this, it’s the only post that account has made and we already know the set was canned.

Probably the laziest bait I’ve ever seen.

Amazes me at what lengths some of these accounts will go for some likes!

Id expect the batcave to leak before the other sets,  maybe in the next couple of weeks!

I hope we will get pics leaked soon, I think a lot of us need to see it to understand how it will look and if we will get it. I think something like the avengers tower is pretty easy to picture what it will be, but the bat caves description on Friday is a bit hard to picture.

Hi,

I am very glad to see we should still be getting the Keaton Batmobile but I'm really confused about the Batcave, I was hoping for a Daily Bugle style comic extravaganza full of Easter eggs and comic characters.

I like the Keaton movies but a comic Batcave would be miles and kilometres better! It has so much potential and it seems like they've wasted it. Why have it close up? That seems like a needless waste of budget for a big budget set.

I'm sure it will look awesome 😎 but perhaps as has been said here, not awesome enough for the high asking price 😔.

And there's no Jason Todd 😭

I think there's some overreaction to the open/close mechanism on the Batcave. Like yeah it's an odd decision but I'll hold judgement. Could look really cool, especially with a light kit.

To me what's stranger is the absolute necessity on LEGO's part to base everything these days on movies, particularly considering the one in question is 31 years old. I suspect LEGO took the wrong lesson from the '89 vehicles selling so well. Both of those are iconic and good display pieces, but the cave is not. Keaton's movies are definitely looked back on fondly by most, but I have a hard time believing this will sell better than a comics based one. Would the Bugle have sold better if it was based on the Raimi movies? I tend to doubt it, unless it was just collectors hoarding Tobey figs. Maybe LEGO is banking on Michelle Pfieffer and Michael Gough having a huge draw?

Also, how do you not include Vicki Vale? I know she's from the first movie but there's a whole gag about Alfred letting her into the cave, and there's already a fig you could just reuse. And no Pat Hingle figure? Come on man.

No, I’m absolutely confident that I would prefer a comic based Batcave that had a good trophy room, a Batsuit display with Batfamily suits as well, computer with crime lab, workshop with something like the rotisserie from TLBM, a river and waterfall, no little jail, and some new Batfamily members. I would absolutely prefer it over a box that encloses the Keaton cave, especially given the price and the known figure count.

Did you even read the rest of my post? I clearly would too, but we're getting what we're getting. I just think what we're getting still has the potential to look good despite the poor choice of source material.

Just watched the new flash trailer. It's so sad that we won't get a single set for the movie with some minigures ...
