There‘s 76222, which was delayed from last year but could have been canned, and 76246 which is still an unknown.

I don't think that any of them are releasing this year, I haven't heard anything about those numbers. I think that they are either delayed/never existed.

No surprise there. After the Flash set got cancelled, it was pretty obvious that any other potential DCEU set (which 76222 likely would have been) was toast as well :shrug_oh_well:

I don't necessarily think it's the same situation. The flash set was just retooled into a burton set due to the controversy. Following this, all they'd have had to do for an aquaman 2 set is remove Mera.

That said, I think you're correct that we won't see any sets for aquaman 2. To be honest, I'm not 100% sure we'll be seeing the FILM.

Y’all said the same thing about the flash. You really think WB is just gonna can a 200 million dollar movies and a sequel to the only billion dollar dceu movie?

sigh remember when they had that exuse that there were no dc movies and thats why theres no sets. would like to hear there excuse now

I'm not saying it won't release, I'm saying there's a chance it won't release. Remember batgirl?

But there are sets! They just never explicitly stated that the sets they'd make would be based on those movies! When blue beetle comes out, it'll be alongside sets of the bat jet-ski thing and a system keaton batcave

Can’t wait for the $1000 Keatonmobile to coincide with the release of Superman Legacy.

To me the theme was dead anyway, once we got word that it would only be keaton sets this year. It just sucks being a Lego dc fan. I hope that Gunn will make some great films for DC, but given that lego marvel has been slacking big time, I don’t know how much we might really get. In general, it feels like lego doesn’t care for the superheroes theme that much anymore.

If you think aquaman is the same as batgirl you might wanna do a little more research into how much money was put into each movie and where they were planning on being released. Duh all dc movies can be cancelled at any point now. Yeah no

Batgirl had no controversy surrounding it prior to it getting canned. If anything there was anticipation for Brendan Fraser as a villain. Aquaman 2 has the stigma of being the last ditch for the Snyderverse, the poison chalice that is Amber Heard, and a significant mention in the Flash trailer that potentially cements it's doom. I've got higher hopes for Blue Beetle.

I’m not referring to controversy. It took 200 million dollars to make opposed to batgirl’s 90. I also was more excited for batgirl that aquaman and care more about blue beetle but that doesn’t mean I’m gonna go around spreading bs that aquaman is gonna be cancelled because I clearly don’t understand how the filmmaking business works

But he hasn’t said that it is going to be cancelled, but that there is a chance that it will be. Big difference. And there is, because there’s a chance that every film gets cancelled, and sometimes it won’t matter what the budget is. They get cancelled at almost any stage for myriad reasons. There was a chance of The Flash being cancelled last year. If you understood how the filmmaking business works you would know that.

There is not “a chance every film gets cancelled” WTH are you on about. Batgirl was like the only one that was actually filmed like almost ever. There was never a chance of the flash being cancelled. I have a film degree and have worked in the business but you spout your crap. Name another film that was fully filmed when it was cancelled. Twitter rumors of the flash not being released are not valid

The important difference between Batgirl and Aquaman / Flash isn’t even the budget but rather the fact that Batgirl was a HBO/Max release only. This is why they were able to cancel the film and still get money out of it. If this was a theatrical release that was filmed and canceled they wouldn’t have gotten anything back. At the end of the day they knew figured the tax cut would bring more money in than the film.

The same absolutely cannot be said about the Flash or Aquaman films.

What are you talking about, you just made this up, this is not how it works at all.

A film being canceled un pre production? Sure, might happen. A movie being canceled in post? You'd have more luck trying to find an unicorn, just because it happened to Batgirl doesn't mean it's what happens most of the time.

No, I think I'd rather trust some guy on twitter

Of course there is. It doesn't matter how great the chance is, it still exists. Most of the time it doesn't happen but the possibility is still there. Having a film degree doesn't give you inside information about how probability works, clearly. Or a history of how, why and when films get cancelled. Really? There are lists of films cancelled in various stages of production available online. For larks here are three from across cinema history and for different reasons, all cancelled in post production.

A Woman of the Sea, 1926. Charlie Chaplin destroyed all known copies of the film in front of witnesses, for the purposes of a tax write-off.

The Day the Clown Cried, 1972. Finished but never released for several reasons. Only finished filming because Jerry Lewis paid $2 million of his own money. Might see the light of day next year.

Hippie Hippie Shake, 2007. Adapted biography of the editor of OZ magazine Richard Neville, ceased due to the resignation of the director during post production.

I'll not deny that Batgirl is the most expensive cancelled film on record, but this notion that there's no chance of any film getting cancelled is beyond ridiculous. Oh, and I'm not on Twitter.

Please point to where I said that it happens most of the time. And to the bit I made up.

Couldn't have said it better myself. (And I, too, am not on twitter, and never have been.)

All I'll add is I literally never said aquaman was likely to be cancelled. Just that after batgirl, and with the general situation (amber heard, ending universe, etc), it's not out of the question. It's possible. I have no idea why certain persons have decided to angrily go after the argument that the batgirl film means aquaman is probably cancelled, because no one is making that argument.

I think people just spawned into the movie bts viewing business when batgirl was cancelled and think that can just happen at any point now.

You quite literally are the one who made that argument

My uncle works for Nintendo and said actually all DC movies have been cancelled in favor of rereleasing Batman 89 with all Keaton’s scenes reshot but now it’s called Batman is 89 a clever play on how Keaton has aged

  • very funny ACTUALLY (sarcasm) cough cough but Keaton is only 71. Hopefully we get batman 89 in 18 years as a batman beyond movie

Been a fan of cinema since I could concentrate long enough to watch a whole film thank you, so some 35 years. I’ve been interested in how they’re made more than the stories themselves so I’ve sought out paraphernalia relating to filmmaking for almost as long. One of my oldest (to me) possessions is a book on movie monsters, almost as important to me as the comic book that first introduced me to Gentleman Ghost, Spectre #11 from 1987, and my copy of Lego Pirate Comic that I got on a holiday in Cornwall in 1989. I certainly didn’t spawn into this because of the aforementioned cancelled Batgirl film.

It’s a shame that you can address someone else about me instead of me directly, especially after I accepted a challenge that you laid down.

What I still don‘t get about the whole Batgirl situation is why they didn‘t release it theatrically. Of course a tax write-off brings more money than releasing a streaming-exclusive movie that has no way to actually make a direct profit (unless a ton of people subscribe just for that). A theatrical release easily would have grossed a lot more than that write-off  Sure, there have been many reports that the movie wasn‘t cinematic enough, but even then it surely would have performed just fine. If Sony felt Morbius was okay to release, WB should have thought the same about Batgirl :laugh_hard:

But yeah, Aquaman 2 is pretty safe IMO. Cancelling a theatrical movie is an entirely different beast I think.

Here you go (and that's just American ones) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Unreleased_American_films

Some of these films were 100% finished and about to be released when they were pulled. Yes, it happens. A couple of recent examples that come to mind without a simple Google that were indefinitely shelved but ultimately released are Take Me Home Tonight (completed in about 2008 and shelved until another company picked it up and released it in 2011) and The King's Daughter (shelved in 2015, released by another company in 2022).

Anyway, this conversation has drifted away from both LEGO and civility, so let's get back to LEGO and not what may or may not become of the remnants of the DCEU.

I didn't say you did. Keep on ranting though.

How long before people think the batcave will be discounted or is it selling well? I'm not caught up on it

If its not selling well would that effect 2024?
Because sets get planned years in advance right, so we might get another d2c set next year?
Is that how it works?
