Capybara554321 Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 Anyone find the polybag in Walmart or target yet?

Those are two completely different things. 9 hours ago, BrickBob Studpants said: If Sony felt Morbius was okay to release, WB should have thought the same about Batgirl Again, not wanting to drag us farther off topic, but my guess is DC didn't want to further sully their films with garbage. By all accounts batgirl was gonna play on the same field as morbius, and that film's accurately made it so almost no one will go watch Kraven or El Muerto (though El Muerto is a different story, being a spin-off for a character in 2 issues of a comic in 2006 and that's it. I think it's the first superhero film where I didn't know who the main character was upon hearing of it) To be on-topic, while I haven't been to target since the polybag allegedly released and my walmart doesn't carry polybags, so I hadn't bothered checking it either, I had assumed lego.com carried them.... it does not. Nor does it carry the marvel Dr.Strange polybag. A quick bricklink search seems to show that the polybag has released in germany, given a number of sellers there have it for less than or equal to it's US cost, but with only one US seller (and for $30), I assume it hasn't yet made it to the states.

So you refuse to accept that films can get cancelled post production despite your degree, demand an example which you then ignore when presented with them, comment about me to someone else who was talking to me then claim that you didn’t, use mild cuss words in your response to me, and I’m the one ranting? Apologies for going off topic, mods.

Uh Walmart did sell the dr strange poly bags, I bought like three of them, I saw them at target as well. if you live nearby a legoland discovery center, you will have a better chance of getting old merchandise that way.

Because sets get planned years in advance right, so we might get another d2c set next year? Is that how it works? Look it seems to be selling better then the Marvel D2C sets from last year. You know the 2 that went on 50% discount!

I think you misunderstood me. If you reread my post, it says that my walmart doesn't carry polybags, and that lego.com doesn't carry the batman 1992 or dr strange polybags.

It's been on sale for a week and we have literally no insight into how it's doing. It would not be on sale yet regardless of sales performance.
The Pearson Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 After watching Flash, I am definitely not pleased with how they handled this wave.
THELEGOBATMAN Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 After watching The Flash, I stopped being mad about the fact that we didn't get any sets.

Stop whining lol, there was a ton of material we could’ve gotten. Batcave with the Flash characters The Batwing The field battle with Zod Etc, etc

I think them releasing the Keaton Batcave covered the only real set piece in the movie that would have made for a good set. Any Zod set would have basically just been a remake of the Man of Steel sets, and the Zod stuff is so little of the movie it feels like kind of a waste to make sets for it. Spoiler The speed force sets wouldn't translate into sets that well. The prison break probably wouldn't make for a great set either (random gray hallways and a big gray ball aren't the most compelling set fodder). The opening sequence could have been good inspiration for a set, but I'm thinking that the baby in a microwave pretty much made that scene impossible for Lego to adapt without some controversy. Really, the only things I would have wanted in Lego form are the Batwing with spinning function and minifigure variations of Supergirl/Superman/Flash etc. I feel like if Lego had done a wave of sets for this movie, it would have just been a wave of Bat vehicles, so I can't say we missed much.
VBBN Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 Well, I didn't want the shadowbox Batcave initially, but after seeing it in person at the Lego store yesterday...sigh, I want it. It has an impressive footprint, if a bit shallow. it's not exactly what I wanted from a D2C Batcave, but it's certainly something I can use as a starting point. Definitely not grabbing it until any VIP promos pop up, though.

BrickBob Studpants Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 (edited) Dodgy CGI aside, I thought the movie was very enjoyable. I definitely would‘ve liked to have a set or two, but the options weren‘t exactly unlimited Edited June 17, 2023 by BrickBob Studpants
TheBatstan Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 After seeing the movie, it baffles me that Lego's first idea for a Flash tie-in set was the 1989 Batmobile over the new Batwing. I get that the '89 Batmobile is one of the most iconic versions of the car, and it's easily the most well known/beloved vehicle that Keaton Batman has... Spoiler But it wasn't even driven in the movie, it was parked in the exact same spot in the Batcave and stayed there. The most screen time it got was maybe a minute or two when younger Barry pulled the tarp off of it and then was seen sleeping in the passenger seat later on. I'm starting to see why Lego decided to retool the set into a Batman '89 one instead, at least the Batmobile played a big role in that movie. The new Batwing on the other hand was practically begging to be turned into a Lego set with the features that it had. The ejection seat drop function where the entire cockpit area lowers itself, the weapons, and a rotating gyroscopic cockpit. Throw in one more feature of allowing it to fit 3 minifigures with main Barry, young Barry, Batman in his new suit, and Supergirl flying on the side like Iron Man in the updated Avengers 1 Quinjet set and there you go.

Like, I know they didnt know how big of a role the batmobile would play in the movie. But like c'mon, they knew Supergirl was in, it would've made more sense to go for the plane. Not that it matters anymore!
THELEGOBATMAN Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 10 hours ago, PGBQW said: That bad, huh? Not really, no. I have mixed feelings. I loved Ezra's portrayal of Barry(s) and their character arcs, it was done extremely well. The movie was also extremely goofy, comicbook-y, and overally enjoyable. The special effects and action scenes ruined some of its charm tho. If they were done well, it would be a really good movie, offering everything it could. But because the CGI is so horrendous (seriously, those are the worst effects you'll ever see in a big-budget movie), it distracts from enjoying some pretty big parts of it, because every action sequence is pretty bad. So imo it's a good story with awful action, which makes it a pretty mediocre movie. It's still a pretty memorable and extremely unique movie tho.
Lion King Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 (edited) So since Modur Building Police Station is going to be retired by end of this year, I would like to see a D2C Gotham Police. Department set that is more similiar to Daily Bugle’s style. And just comic-based characters rather than movie ones. Edited June 17, 2023 by Lion King
Nylock Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 (edited) If you remove the first half of the movie, then I think it’s fantastic and I loved it. But overall, 5.5/10 maybe a 6. Young Barry made me want to leave the theater in the beginning. Still wish we had sets. A flash branded Batmobile / batwing with flash and supergirl would sell 10x better than the 89 sets imo. Nylock Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 Saw people saying online that Brick clicker and Minecraft goat said the flash set hasn’t been cancelled, just pushed back. This is a bunch of baloney right? I couldn’t find Minecraft goat or brick clicker saying anything like that. Plus why would they push off the set?
