BrickBob Studpants Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 A BTAS set for $300? If you want people to fall for your rumours, you have to try a lot harder. This is beyond parody

I've seen a picture of it but I'm not allowed to post it here. It's basically the Gotham City skyline in the Art Deco style of the show and the description of the set says that it can be displayed on a shelf or mounted on a wall. The price is given to be in a range of $240-$390, probably $300, and it comes with 3238 pieces. The dimensions are 13 inches/32 cm high, 30 inches/77 cm wide, and 2 inches/6 cm deep. It's basically the Gotham skyline over a background of red sky with black clouds. In the sky there is also a white moon, police blimps with searchlights, the Bat signal, and the Batplane. There are water marks all over the image so it's hard for me to read out the details of the buildings but many of the buildings feature logos or signs that reference the show. There's a Joker's World theme park with ferris wheel and big Joker face as a sign as well. In front of the cityscape, at the bottom, is the word Gotham in all caps Art Deco style letters. The description of the set also mentions that there are panels that can be opened. There are five minifigures included but they weren't included in the pic I saw. The five were named to be Batman, Joker, Harley Quinn, Mr. Freeze, and Phantasm. Remember when fake leaks at least tried to make up things people would actually want? Like even if we ignore the fact this is obviously not true, why would Lego make an art set and give it 5 minifigures? How would this skyline even work? This is so stuffed with things that it would be impossible to fit them all. And why would they make a BTAS set now? For the 31st anniversary?

The Mask of the Phantasm has its 30th anniversary this year, but that doesn’t make the rumour any more believable. MotP is a fan-favourite, but wasn’t it a pretty big box-office bomb? Doesn’t exactly scream “$300 set” to me

And it's $300 display piece nobody here really wants (*cough* *cough* Black Panther bust). And it includes exactly one highly desirable, exclusive new character that most of us will end up either Bricklinking or buying a $300 tub of spare parts for.

Nylock Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Weird how we saw the flash torso back in late October but nothing else. Do we think it was a prototype torso that someone got their hands on, or maybe some weird early production? Hopefully we can get more leaks of that set soon

steveholt Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 I'd like it, but i don't believe it. Love to be proven wrong though

That's possible, assuming someone held onto the torso for 5 months before posting it online. The film was set for release in Nov 2022. But, last May they announced it was delayed to June 2023. So, assuming the set was going to release in Aug 2022, they could have started producing the parts (I remember hearing they start mass-producing sets roughly three months in advance) but then halted it when they heard the film was delated. Of course, this makes several assumptions. The torso was the one of the first pieces put into mass production Lego wasn't informed in advance about the change in release dates Lego can just halt production of a set like that
Mandalorianknight Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 2 hours ago, psqidexslizer said: The torso was the one of the first pieces put into mass production The other two points are definately solid points (It's possible lego didn't halt production and is just storing them, but I think it would have leaked by now if that was the case), but as for the first, it doesn't have to be the case at all. A black 2x4 or re-used batman face aren't going to leak because there's no way to prove they're from the new set, they aren't interesting, etc. All this means is that out of the 3-5 new prints for the set, the torso was the only one that leaked.

That's a fair point. My main reason for assuming the torso was one of the first pieces to leak is we haven't seen anything else. No new Batman torso. No new Flash head or cowl (the old cowl mold would work, but the earpieces should be gold instead of yellow). No new printed legs for Flash (not that Lego would bother anyways). Nothing for any third figure, if there even is a third figure. I just think it's odd we'd see a torso and nothing else since then. Also, while we're on the topic of this years sets that were supposed to be coming out last year, there were two besides The Flash set which got pushed back (76222 and 76224). 76224 is now coming this year and I think we all assume it's for Aquaman 2. But what about 76222? I've got two theories for that. 1) 76224 is actually a second Flash set, but it contains spoilers so it's coming out after the film in August. 76222 is for Aquaman 2 and will come out in October and the reason it wasn't on that Promobricks list from a while back is they only covered up to August. Or it was just missing for another, unrelated reason. 2) 76222 was a Batgirl set but when that film got canned so did the set.
Batman2006IsBestLegoTheme Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 (edited) New BTAS-styled kind of volumetric "art" set is real, i also have image, but don't gonna post it here. UPD: This set may come out in 2024. UPD2: This set physically can't come out in 2024 due to Mask of The Phantasm anniversary. Just wait for official reveals. psqidexslizer Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 New DC slate dropped. I think there's a good chance we'll see sets for Brave and the Bold and The Batman Part II. Superman: Legacy and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow might get one each. But that's it. I have zero expectations of us getting sets for Creature Commandos or Booster Gold.
THELEGOBATMAN Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 https://www.dc.com/blog/2023/01/31/the-next-generation-of-dc-movies-and-tv-has-arrived I really hope LEGO will start covering DC projects from now on. We probably won't get any sets based on series, or more mature movies like Swamp Thing tho, which kinda sucks, as it's what makes up most of the slate. Still, cant wait for what LEGO could give us sets for: Superman: Legacy, The Brave and The Bold, or Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. There's also obviously The Batman — Part II.
Classic_Spaceman Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 James Gunn has just announced some of the main projects in the first chapter (as he put it) of the DCU, called "Gods and Monsters": Creature Commandos (TV, Animated). Waller (TV, Live-Action) / Viola Davis returns as Waller, and will feature alongside "team Peacemaker". Superman: Legacy (Film) / Written by Gunn, and slated for release July 11, 2025. Lanterns (TV, Live-Action) / Stars Hal and John, and is described as a "terrestrial-based" story about a pair of detectives/"space-cops". The Authority (Film) / Gunn describes this as a passion project (so he may be writing/directing, though he has not said if this is the case), and will feature the WildStorm team of the same name. Paradise Lost (TV, Live-Action) / Described as Game of Thrones but set on Themyscira (it will also likely serve as a Wonder Woman prequel/introduction, though that was not stated). The Brave and The Bold (Film) / Stars Batman and Damien Wayne Robin (described as a "little assassin" who Batman tries to get in-line), and is based on Grant Morrison's run; Gunn also stated that this is "the beginning of the Bat-Family" in the DCU. Booster Gold (TV, Live-Action). Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (Film) / Based on Tom King's run on the comic of the same name, and described as a "big science-fiction epic film". Supergirl is stated to have been "raised on a chunk of Krypton, [having] watched everybody around her perish in some terrible way", and is far more jaded than Superman as a result. Swamp Thing (Film) / Described as "a very dark horror story" and an origin for the character.
