Which aren‘t available anymore, so how exactly would they benefit from that?

Oops, then yeah it's just a shitty design LOL. Hopefully Batwing has a better expression, but it won't be as good as the big vehicle ones.

Hopefully we can buy that hair elsewhere and slap it on the old Jack figure.

I wouldn’t count on it. This year, we got movies for Shazam, Flash, Blue Beetle, and Aquaman. And still all we could get is four Batman sets based on the old Burton films. Lego couldn’t even throw them in a comic based Batman set. At this point, I think our only safe bet is The Batman II sets in 2025.

Yeah don't mind me I'm too optimistic for my own good. I'm still holding out hope to get specialized moulds for Harley's hyenas, a few green variants of Ivy, the Mad Hatter and mini figure scaled Clayface so clearly I'm in la la land but hey at least we get new sets for this theme in la la land. Lol.

Manifesting that the batwing is a secret Flash set

Bro I wish it was. But since it’s reported to include Batman and joker again, I wonder if they’ll be any different. Considering the Batwing vs Joker scene, joker wears the same suit as in the Batmobile set, except with a hat. If it doesn’t have an exclusive fig, I’m not sure the $35 price tag will get us a detailed enough batwing to justify getting the set.

I will say that I love the Batmobile design though. With 2 exceptions: the gear on the side to open the guns looks terrible, and the fact that the cockpit still doesn’t slide open sucks.

The Batmobile looks pretty good, though the gear needs to be removed and Joker's face is bad; I also think that it is at least $5 overpriced, and it needs a third Minifig. Getting the '89 Batsuit torso with the Batsymbol printed on is great, and I have no idea why the Batcave did not include this variant. I do wish that we were getting the single-piece cowl and cape, though, with the Type-4 cowl as an alternate.

Glad the batmobile still exists as a set and happy to see it’s similar to the one from the shadow box. I’ll have to mod it to remove the gear wheel for the guns, I just don’t like the way it sticks out.

eill be looking to see a side by side comparison of the 2 and perhaps a look through the build instructions

It does, it’s in the suit room so that Keaton can go from not being able to move his head to being able to get in the car.

That version has the Returns Batsuit torso, not the '89 one.

After over a year since this set name was first leaked (back when it was still a Flash set), we finally got pictures of it...and I'm honestly shocked at how it's 90% similar to the Batcave version. I really thought Lego would make an inferior design here that would entice people to buy the Batcave for it, but aside from some changes like the side exhausts, the fins not being angled slightly upward, the back of this Batmobile having a trunk, and other little details like this one having hubcaps (which still don't have the bat symbols printed on it...), it's a perfect compromise that's much more affordable. Hell, this Batmobile still has the pop up machine guns feature as well, I for sure thought Lego would cheap out and slap some stud shooters on and call it a day. The gear on the side of it still looks just as ugly as it does on the Batcave Batmobile so it's going to have to go, along with the wedge plates that cover the guns for a much more smoother/studless solution. I can't wait to see the instructions for the Batcave Batmobile so that I can make some modifications to this Batmobile and get a result that's a best of both worlds combination.

The biggest let down for me though is that now both these Batmobiles are one seaters. Lego has made 3 Batmobiles in the past 2 years that were two seaters, but when it comes to making a two seater '89 Batmobile, it's impossible for them. I know that if they tried to make this a two seater, it'd end up being 10 studs wide instead of 8, but I'd take that over going back to one seater Batmobiles that feel so regressive now ever since the Speed Champions line introduced the two seater chassis piece in 2020. Is Batman just going to leave Joker handcuffed on the street for the GCPD since there's clearly no room for a passenger in his car.

Now as for the minifigures, it feels so good to finally get an '89 Batsuit with the logo printed on the torso this time. The new cowl is still getting replaced by a Type 2 cowl, but it's nice to get it in a cheaper set as well. I really wish I knew what that grapnel gun with the gold hook thing is supposed to be. At first glance, I think it's Lego's attempt at making the line launcher gadget that Batman used in the museum scene when he rescued Vicki.  For Joker, the head definitely looks a lot more cartoony compared to the 2019 version that was much more closer to Nicholson's likeness, but that should be an easy fix if you have that figure already. Getting that hairpiece in a regular green after so many years (and after getting it in a lime green for TDKR Joker from the DC CMF series) is the highlight for me. Making a proper looking Arkham games Joker can finally happen now.

The price is definitely the worst part about this set. 45 Euros to Canadian is 65 dollars, which I really hope isn't the case because that's absolutely insane. I'd settle for 55 Canadian before paying 65 for this. But either way, I'm going to have to make some space next to my modified GWP '89 Batmobile because this set is joining my Batmobile collection one way or another. Now I just need to see pics of the Batwing set and hope that the figures in that aren't straight up repeats of this set.

Tumbler was GOAT, I bought it for around 35 euros.

This doesnt feels like good set for 45 euro. And Joker doesnt feel like Nicolson one.

I quite like the new faceprint. …for a generic Joker, that is. It doesn‘t work for the Nicholson Joker, especially when compared to the previous two versions. Did they lose the rights to his likeness or something? :laugh_hard:

I was hoping for artist Joker to be featured in the Batwing, but not anymore if he looks THIS different

It really doesn't make sense to include almost the same Batmobile in two different sets coming out just two month apart. They even have the identical gear mechanism with popping out machine guns. So much for product cannibalization. Most people will just buy the small one in August and get the figures from the D2C on the secondary market. The cave-box is ugly anyway. The playset one even has the flame and wheel caps included.

If they’re the same figures, I’m only gonna buy the batwing, slightly cheaper. Makes all the sense in the world to make the Batwing be Flash based but Lego’s decisions are bizarre sometimes.

Oh yeah, my bad. Still, I would say that it wasn't included because that valuable spot was given to Max, thank god :sarcasm_hmpf:

Anyone knows what the weird claw-arrow holder thing Batman has is supposed to represent?

It‘s his famous Bat-claw-arrow-holder-thing from an infamous deleted scene

Seriously though, no idea. Maybe a weird take on the grappling gun? :shrug_oh_well:

It must be the grappling gun, but why doing that when they already have a perfectly fine piece to do it? Lego Moment.

for those who are amazed by the two identical batmobiles, I remember that the small set was supposed to come out last year with the flash movie… they probably kept it because they must have a batmobile set on the shelves all the time. for the same reason we have a strange joker, it was a last minute substitution…. if this reasoning makes sense, the batwing joker should be better, because he had more time to design. Surely this rule of 2 minifigures is irritating, if lego has decided that batman must be Burton, why not expand the game world? there are many supporting characters that could be added…

But, if this were the case, they'd just reuse the same Joker, no?

They are so remarkably similar. Given the choice, I prefer the angled wings of the shadowbox version, but it's probably only a couple of parts needed to modify one into the other.

On the other hand, if people are looking to buy the figures only, and very few people buy the shadowbox, I wonder if we'll be in the crazy situation of people paying stupid money for one figure, making it tempting to get the shadow box, sell the figures, get the batmobile, and then a whole load of bricks for cheap. Or just get the standalone set and not bother with the hassle.
