They should throw us a bone and gives us the red goggle catwoman from 76122 in a lego magazine

Best catwoman and is unreasonably expensive

Y'know, instead of another batman

Saw people saying online that Brick clicker and Minecraft goat said the flash set hasn’t been cancelled, just pushed back.

This is a bunch of baloney right? I couldn’t find Minecraft goat or brick clicker saying anything like that. Plus why would they push off the set?

I think the exact words were that the set would not be coming out this year. I’m not sure why LEGO would release it another year, though.

That would be cool, but I also do like the mini vehicle builds!

So since Modur Building Police Station is going to be retired by end of this year, I would like to see a D2C Gotham Police. Department set that is more similiar to Daily Bugle’s style. And just comic-based characters rather than movie ones.

A modular GCPD building would be awesome but I'm definitely in favor of the Lego Batman theme moving beyond the comics now. The line was already feeling stale when we went through the Rebirth phase around 2018-2020 with everything feeling "more of the same" and there's not much left to cover beyond a handful of C-list rogues that haven't gotten minifigures yet.

The direction I'd like to see them go next is to start basing their character designs of the Batman Animated Series. It would really help freshen a lot of the main characters instead of recycling the same tired comic designs and still provides an opportunity to include missing characters such as Mad Hatter, Ventriloquist/Scarface and Clayface. We're already rumored to be getting a Gotham Skyline set based off the show next year from that leaked survey but hopefully that won't just be a one-off should that set come into fruition.

Its also time we filled some gaps from the Dark Knight Trilogy and start exploring the two Schumacher films now that the 60s series and Keaton films have been mostly covered, although both of those should definitely stick to the retail front and not be locked behind expensive D2C sets.

Unfortunately that figure has been out of production for about 3 years now. I don't see them bringing her back just for a magazine.

@wesker I couldn’t disagree more about the direction of the theme. Handled properly it could have seen a huge cast of characters, locations and vehicles. They got stuck in a rut with regards to Batsuits and choice of villains, and it could have been managed far better. Padding out the Bat family and villains, the Justice League, Legion of Doom, Suicide Squad, Rogues, the Titans, all with such potential. If we get previously unreleased characters in B:TAS form there’s a possibility they could look out of place with the existing characters. Don’t get me wrong, I’d like to see more, but this weird retrospective that they are going with isn’t doing much for me. You can stick with old comics characters and themes, but update them much like we see on the page.

From what it sounds like many others are saying, the set will include SuperGirl and the two different Flash minifigs. I'm not sure how much of this is speculation however? Are these just likely guesses? Did Lego announce the set's name and price only, or are there any other details available to the community at this time?

There is no set coming based on the flash. You are likely thinking of the 1989 batmobile set with Batman and Joker coming in August, which was likely originally intended to be a flash set but had the figs swapped out either due to the lead actor's crimes or general uncertainty about the film's success. (Warranted uncertainty, apparently.)

Even in context, using the word 'success' seems wrong when talking about The Flash.

To be fair I think the two are linked. Audiences are not as forgetful or forgiving as WB assumed, I know a fair few people who have skipped it due to the lead's behaviour, personally I will still watch it but not in the cinema.

It's partly that. Part superhero fatigue. Part being part of an existing cannon that's about to wiped out.

Definately part of it for me, but even after all the stuff Ezra did I was still fine with separating art from artist. What sealed it as a skip for me was A: The fact that they refused to specifically condemn Ezra or at least confirm he wouldn't return and B: one of the leaked cameos that felt especially gross (Not that any of the cameos sound like they were done well, but one of them sounded more gross than just dumb).

I genuinely couldn't tell which one you mean if my life depended on it, that was my reaction to 2 of them

Not that I disagree with you, but the people who Keaton was targeted to was mostly older people who usually don't go to watch superhero movies anyway, like my dad (well maybe not mine, he said he can't wait to torrent the movie).

My point being that outside of internet I never heard anything about Miller in the news or anything like that. Granted, maybe the whole thing was actually better covered in the states and not so much outside of it.

Speaking of which, I don't think I've seen any trailer for the movie on TV or cinemas now that I come to think of if? Maybe the lack of international advertising is not helping the movie either.

Yeah, I think its not just one thing but a whole combination of small things that killed the movie.

Yeah, I think its not just one thing but a whole combination of small things that killed the movie.

I mean I can't say anything about the States because I've never left Europe in my life. But it was covered well enough in UK for people to know that he shouldn't have gotten away seemingly scott free.

I mean at least with the crowd that follows online move news and comic book movies there were a lot of people saying that they would just skip it or pirate it cause miller leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I mean as @mandalorianknight is saying, it not just that they didn't reshoot it or anything, I get that the movie was mostly finished but WB acted like it was a total non-issue and ,yes they might have just been waiting the movie to come out first, but they even seemed to suggest that they might make more movies with Ezra in the role.

I was not yet born when the Keaton movies came out but I still watched them growing up so I can't say they were thinking only older people were Keaton fans, they were probably just aiming for a well liked previous batman for some nostalgia points and given batgirl it seemed he'd agreed to come back to the role for more than just the one go round.

It was advertised over here, I don't watch live TV only streaming so I don't know about adverts there but I've seen it on billboards and buses and had a flash advert in the cinema when I went to see spiderverse ( and maybe Gotg3 and DandD I can't remember).

But of course it is multi-factorial, is not everything? But I do think that the Ezra Millar situation is too big to be overlooked when discussing the films lack of success.

I mean it's almost an insult to the character of the flash to have his first 'solo' movie be a flashpoint story.

Yeah you're right, though I don't think superhero fatigue is as much of a thing as that it'd affect all superhero movies, it just means each superhero movie has to stand out more to be noticed now cause there are so many. Across the Spider-verse, Gotg3 , No way home and The Batman all seemed to bypass the fatigue problem.

I mean TBH from adverts I saw the Flash didn't really look to stand out much, Keaton's batman was the most intriguing thing to me but it so obvious that he was there as nostalgia bait which a better film might not have needed  I mean No way home tried ( and failed) to hide it's nostalgia bait characters so it knew it was getting bums in seats without them because the Sony Tom Holland Spider-Man films have built a trusted quality that the DCEU has continuously failed to do. ( And honestly imo they have better source material than marvel but they just keep boneheadedly screwing it up anyway, Gunn's takeover seems to be exactly what they need)

Spider-Man and Batman will always put butts in seats, but other characters will be hit hard by the fatigue. In a time when quality is slipping, both Marvel and DC have decided they need to turn it up to 11 instead of just coming up with quality stories with characters people care about. You *can* make money on Ant-Man or Shang-Chi or The Flash or whatever, but they have to be quality stories. Audiences will be more forgiving of a mediocre Batman or Spider-Man story than a mediocre Flash story.

I think the mutiverse concept might have worked five to six years ago, but people were already kind of starting to get burned out and I don't think the right way to course-correct was to make things more confusing to the average viewer. I've heard so many people go "yeah I'm not gonna watch (insert generic Marvel movie) because I didn't see (insert two different Disney+ shows)."

I have to say I‘m kinda surprised by the Flash flopping this hard. I expected it to perform well enough to at least break even based on the inclusion of Keaton alone :shrug_confused: If not even he could save it…

Guess TLG had the right idea by cancelling the set as I can‘t imagine the merch faring much better than the movie itself. This does not bode well for Blue Beetle or Aquaman 2, but maybe Superman Legacy will bring DC back in full force! Along with the LEGO theme.

Sorry, I didn't word that properly.

My point wasn't as much "Keaton is only there to bring older fans" rather than "Keaton is there to bring older fans too".

As in, I think most younger comic book fans watch most superhero movies anyway, so bringing a previous batman would pander to people who don't closely follow up superhero movies anymore.

Like it obviously didn't work as apparently like 4 people have seen the movie, but still.

I saw a trailer at the cinema when watching GotG 3. So they did advertise it, at least here.

Spoiler

The guy who's rumored to have killed himself because of how stressed he was over playing the character. CGI-ing in dead people is gross enough, but when the role they played contributed to their suicide, that's even worse.

They advertised it a TON in the states. Everyone knew keaton was back, and it felt like it was every other ad on youtube.

I'm not really into DCU, but I agree. From the MCU perspective, I roughly followed the story till Endgame. I did skip some movies, but I had enough context that it didn't matter. But now with most every incoming movie based on at least one - possibly more - Disney+ series that I don't follow, I've lost interest. GotG 3 was a must-see for me because I like the Guardians and it was easy to get up to speed (I was only missing the holiday special). But for my part, I want character-driven superhero movies, not just special effects. If I don't know who the heck half these people ARE going in, the movie is automatically less appealing to me.

Plus, and I think that's a big factor as well, movie ticket prices (and concession prices) have skyrocketed within the last few years, at least in my country. And that's during a time when even basic living expenses are going through the roof. Which means that the bar for movies has been raised significantly. Before, people would go to the cinema for the experience, and if the movie wasn't all that great, so what? But now, people think twice about shelling out that kind of money for a movie that's only "meh" to them. They expect something extraordinary. I hear more and more people say "Things have gotten so expensive! We just stay home as a family, make popcorn, and watch our streaming service." Which might or might not be Disney+.

Bingo.

The problem for Marvel (and I say problem lightly as it made two billion dollars), is that Endgame truly marked the end of something, not only in terms of story but the faces of their franchise in Downey and Evans (and sort of Scarlett Johansson). They basically told people "hey show up for the showdown to end all showdowns, especially as it will be the last for our big name stars", gave a sense of closure, and then were like "ok now it's time She-Hulk and Ant-Man 3. Like, of course people weren't gonna care as much.

Well Indiana Jones is neck in neck with this one, websites are making it seem like the flash flopped hard but yet when Dial of Destiny made 5 million more than the flash did on opening weekend, they are saying it’s a victory.

One of the industry accurate websites are saying that Indiana Jones is cursed but because audiences are discerning between watching movies on the big screen and screening.  I just think it’s funny how polarized reviewers now, there’s no in between anymore.

I really hope lego kickstarts DC again.  The amount of villains we still haven’t gotten in Lego form from Batman alone is crazy.  I think if Lego really want to kickstart DC (pretty much Batman) they should do a huge D2C Wayne Manor or Arkham Asylum that’s comic based.

I’d be happy for Lego to go back to do the traditional “Two Face Bank Robbery” style of sets just to get the ball rolling again.

D2C Arkham is the way. DC needs its own Daily Bugle with an abundance of villain figs and the current Batcave simply ain’t it.
