Seeing Gringotts just makes me think how cool a Wayne manor and Batcave would be

oh that wouldve been such a cooler set than the batcave we got... prob wouldve still had the same areas as the actual minifigure space in that set is not very large

I was thinking the same, I hope we get the Art Gotham BAS Skyline next year,  and new , exciting designs in line with the harry potter and Disney releases for future sets.

I've always thought the manor on top of the Batcave would be extremely difficult to pull off considering how inherently boring the former is compared to the latter, but after seeing Gringotts I'm convinced they could do it. If 1/10th the effort that went into Gringotts went into the Batcave I would've bought it day one.

That's a problematic idea, because the set would cost at least twice as much as Gringotts.

For what it's worth, I don't think the Batcave's design is devoid of effort.

Sure, I'm not a huge fan of it, but like it's pretty well designed and thought out. It's main problem is the idea itself.

I mean, in this scenario I'm assuming we'd get like a small fraction of the manor, not an entire house.

No, there was certainly effort, but Gringotts is clearly on a whole other level.

Fair enough!

I mean at that point they might as well give us a Wayne Manor. I'd argue getting half of it would be worse than not getting it at all

With a Batcave and Wayne Manor you could argue they could be 2 separate sets that use similar technique of Gringotts to stack on top of each other. With Gringotts I get the impression (not in HP threads or follow closely) that the bottom section wouldnt sell that well if separate set at the price point. With Wayne Manor/Batcave I think they'd be enough demand for both separately and a joint purchase (if done well). It does surprise me that Lego dont do more "complete" sets that join together like Jabbas Palace/Rancor 10 years ago

My problem with this is I feel that Wayne Manor is sort of like the X-Mansion in that the building is iconic because of who it's home to, not because of anything interesting about the house itself (outside of being on top of the Batcave and Cerebro, respectively), and there are too many varying designs in media to make any singular portrayal instantly recognizable as being either manor. And if we take the X-Mansion leak to be true, then LEGO feels the same. Sure, you can point to things like the Daily Bugle that also aren't really noted for their inside, but LEGO was able to meme-ify that set enough to where it didn't really matter. I have a hard time seeing them putting a two-story gothic manor on top of a Batcave and keeping that price (or combined price) under like $800.

Maybe they could do what they did with the Home Alone set and make the manor like half as deep? But then what footprint does that leave for the cave? I guess at this point LEGO isn't afraid to get nutty with their prices and sizes, so it isn't entirely unreasonable. But I still think it's very, very unlikely.

Yeah I agree about the building not being iconic by itself but a well designed Manor Modular from a certain time period with appealing architecture appeals to not just Superhero fans but Modular/Building fans in general similar to how Daily Bugle does for Modular fans who want a grey skyscraper in their cities.

I'm not sure what you mean by meme-ify the Bugle set but like you say that isnt iconic on appearance but stick Daily Bugle sign on a skyscraper and fill with enough Minifigures that people want and you have a big selling set (assuming based on community sentiment, no idea if it has sold well).

As for price (and who knows how legos budget actually work after seeing The Marvels set) a two story manor on a baseplate and a half which seems to be biggest size they do modulars for usually with say around 15 minifigures for $400 and a Batcave around same size with similar minifigure count seems feasible. Whether it meets customer expectation in terms of size for a manor and potential gardens surrounding it plus Batcave likely not but if a set (or 2) like this were to be created I think expectations on size would have to be kept in check and not expect something like Brent Waller's (I think thats his name) MOC version which is what it seems some people want to get (not saying you just general sentiment from reading these threads).

I don't think its likely and with state of DC theme seems very unlikely but I do think it would be feasible especially if this was a Harry Potter or Star Wars theme

Wayne Manor could get a set, but I think it either needs to be a large retail release or part of a large Batcave D2C where the inclusion of the manor is the primary gimmick. The manor can be wide but shallow. I can't imagine it having more depth than the one in the TLBM Joker Manor set. A nice facade is the most important thing; all you really need on the inside is a secret Batcave entrance. There can be more connectivity between the manor and the cave because the manor wouldn't need a "ground" baseplate like Gringotts does for compatability with Diagon Alley. A dining room, bedroom, entryway, den, etc. could be included to fill it out, but I think that the manor would have to be part of a Batcave set, resting on top of it like Gringotts is the vault system. The Batcave is the most important part, and it's more important that that be fleshed out and developed.

There are other DC locations which are more suited to the modular treatment I think, like Arkham, the Daily Planet, LexCorp, the Hall of Justice, or even a "Gotham City Downtown" in the style of a Ninjago City set. But that's far from the state of the current theme where they didn't even shoehorn Batgirl into a Batman set this year when we thought she was getting a movie.

Hoping that the brand is going low key for a refresh, and sets will come back in full force with Gunn's reboot. In the meantime I'll take what we can get.

Which Batman torso you guys think is better? The 76035 Torso or the 40453 batsuit torso?

40453, I love that it’s just the og lego Batman suit but slightly updated. Looks fantastic to me!

I hope the new DCU movies reignite LEGO and DC relationship. With all the characters confirmed for Superman Legacy, we could get even a 3 set wave, like the Mos wave!

Me too! Really hoping we get a Guy Gardner GL minifigure.

My exact same thoughts.

Perhaps since HP sells better than DC, Lego locked in the idea to the Gringotts, and selected this other idea for the bat cave. I am not so sad that this current bat cave is somewhat of a disappointment to many (me included), but more so that this disappointment will keep other potential bat cave sets at bay for quite some time.

The shadow box is still a great idea,  and will look really nicely displayed with the other Batman lego sets as a centre piece.

The main draw of this Gringotts is that it is compatible with the 2020 Diagon Alley set, hence the odd decision to balance a baseplate on the lower part (the 2020 Diagon Alley had baseplates). Making Gringotts a shadowbox would have defeated the purpose.

Here’s the upcoming set list for DC in 2024.

Overall, sounds like another typical year for DC. 😝

Better than some previous years, if I'm honest.

Hopefully Lego have had enough time to listen to us to see that we want a new D2C Arkham Asylum one for £500/£600 in the same way that the 2012 version was made.

When will they hear us for the suggestions for the bat cave? LOL

What are you guys’ predictions for DC next year?

If the new DC (batman) sets sell like I think they will, I’m expecting a single 4+ set.

BUT on the off chance these sell well, I’m hoping for another dark knight set, hopefully the Bat from TDKR.
