I swear in season 1 of the '66 Batman, Freeze also had a cold suit / gun and couldn't survive in the heat.... but I don't think his wife was involved yet. We even got a minifgiure of him in a polybag back in 2016.

So this idea isn't that new: It is over 50 years old!

Yeah sorry I didn't mean that the suit and cold gun were new for BtAS just that they developed the story behind them.

Well your beliefs are correct, the whole Scientist trapped in a sub zero suit, who froze his wife to stop her dying while he searched for a cure, thing was a BtAS invention. Before that he was just a crook with a cold gun. But of course Batman and Robin added the most important detail with the freeze ray now being fueled by diamonds, which is the most important part of his lore and is obviously not totally ludicrous.

Clearly the most important part of the Mr. Freeze lore is Batman and Robin's invention that he can't go two lines without making an ice pun.

Yep. In the ‘66 show, Batman was also responsible for the accident that made Mr Freeze like that.

Also, that was the George Sanders version which looks nothing like the Polybag minifigure.

Fixed a huge mistake from the BtAS version. Never made sense that Nora would fall for a stoic science geek. But a chad, ice pun machine…

This feels like something @PGBQW would say, but the thing is I believe Heart of Ice was first, so one could argue BTAS mr freeze walked so Batman and Robin Mr. Freeze could run.

I was out for the weekend, but I can confirm: If I were here I'd droped the same take.

(The one I like is Val Kilmer, don't care much 'bout Clooney tho!)

So we have nothing to thank to BTAS, got it.

Alas, Batman 66's supremacy proven once again.

Is there any lore reason for that? Is she stupid?

The Harley Quinn series has confirmed that she is kinda stupid. And before that she wasn’t a character. She was just a plot device who got fridged in the literal sense instead of the typical figurative sense.

I wouldn't cite that series as lore, despite how good it is and how deep some of the cuts are. Comic Nora is now a dangerous supervillain who felt that her husband was too soft for her.

I wouldn’t call it good, outside of season 1 and maybe 2.

I'm not arguing the quality of the show, I'm saying that it's not really the best place to go finding defining characterisation, or more specifically confirming a character trait. Sure, it's helped renew interest in characters that had more cult following before, but others have also been subverted for comic effect.

Just read an article about sales of toys based on The Flash, and Batman / Batmobile products apparently did pretty well! Looks like TLG was a bit overzealous with cancelling the set :laugh_hard:

They still managed to sneak out a Batmobile (or three) so they probably made the right call.

I think they made the right choice to focus on Batman only. The article says he outsold Flash by a significant margin. So Lego probably came out ahead since they solely focused on Batman and avoided the Flash connection entirely.

My point was that it likely would have sold regardless, since the build and the Batman fig were most likely identical. I doubt people would’ve looked at the original set and thought „Eww, it’s the Flash! Not buying that. Dang, I wish it included an inaccurate Joker from the 89 film instead, then I would‘ve bought it!“

Keeping the original set also would‘ve been cheaper than designing a new packaging as well as a new Joker torso

I imagine they saved some time and money not dealing with anything related to Ezra Miller at the very least.

As for Joker, they probably had that design ready to go from an upcoming set anyway.

Having now seen the Blue Beetle movie, I’d have loved to see that character revisited by Lego. The movie is a lot of fun and could easily stand a standalone set (or two) that would be appealing to comic fans and kids alike I think.

I don't think that the builds were identical.

Interesting. Then I wonder why they redesigned it, considering how similar the two versions of the Batmobile were on screen. It’s not like most people would’ve noticed a difference if they sold a repackaged Flash Batmobile as an 89 one

Link to the article? Lego too busy working in another 4 set release for eternal 2 lol.

Such a missed opportunity.

Also, the article just says that the merch featuring Batman outsold the other stuff, which of course doesn‘t really tell us anything about the overall sales :shrug_oh_well: Nonetheless, I‘m still certain the set wouldn‘t have tanked, even with Miller‘s mug on the packaging  It‘s a Batmobile, you could include a buildable pile of feces and it would still sell

Personally I’ve seen them at Walmart and the Lego store. I’ve seen people say they found them at target but my local target never seems to have the labels on the end caps where poly bags are displayed so I cannot confirm

Thanks. Where in the Wal-Mart would they be located? Because I don’t think they’re at the Lego or toy aisles. Or the ones I visited don’t have them.

I’d be interested to hear how the builds differed. Would really love to see a two seater Burton Batmobile someday.
