@deskp, if you'd still lurking around, do you happen to have a picture of Ginny's outfit in the Grimmauld Place Christmas scene? Orange shirt, dark tan (possibly crocheted) jumper?

?

Thanks, @deskp that helps. I had suspected it was more of a tunic, but this simplifies things. Any idea what her brooch is?

I'd done a digital version of the fig and was going to try to improve her top, but I think any attempt on my part to duplicate the crochet pattern will only make a hash of things.  Although I think there's an olive cardigan for one of the minifigs that might provide some inspiration... (Just doubled checked and it's yet another cable knit (Amy Farrah Fowler). I can't find a good example of minifig crochet.)

A friend of mine made the twins' jumper for me, which I liked better:

Thanks for the reminder, @drewdotexe. Promptly pre-ordered. :classic:

Does anyone in Australia know what's the deal with Battle of Hogwarts? It it a LEGO exclusive or does it have a later retail date or something? It doesn't seem to be coming out at any of the retailers.

target have the new Harry Potter sets in now for the ends of their 20% off sale, they didn't have the train or www at my store. Think sale ends next week

Thanks for that. Ordered one already. Worked out well. The JP Triceratops set was back in stock which I reordered, because I'm pretty sure my parcel with my JP sets has got lost in the mail, so I reordered them all again before the sale ends so I don't miss out.

As for the other two sets I'm getting the distinct feeling that WWW is a Kmart exclusive and Hogwarts Express is a BigW exclusive. Not that it matters anyways, not buying either of those two as they're both re-treads of old sets that i've got already and not spending $150 for a new train station (Might have if it had looked wintery. Lol.)

Thanks, @brickbride. I appreciate your keeping an eye out. That's another thick knit pattern. They seem to prefer those. But it's another nice example of where they use pattern regularity and not, and how they just put things like slight wrinkles or pockets etc right over the top of the pattern to get that lego-y look. The longer I look, the better I understand the composition, but unfortunately that doesn't mean I'm suddenly capable of drawing. Right now I'm poring over the torsos with dots and checks, hoping to find a starting point.

@krimimimiYou're welcome!

Since some themes are already getting set numbers and prices for 2024 (not HP though), I'm putting down some speculation. Without knowing any set numbers or prices, here's what I think we might get in 2024:

Durmstrang ship

Hogsmeade expansion with the Hog's Head and possibly Zonko's (though I'm more confident about the HH)

Knight Bus (last one came out in 2019, so we'll probably see a remake within the next 1-3 years)

UCS Burrow from the survey (unless the Knight Bus is a UCS version, then the Burrow might be for 2025)

Diagon Alley expansion in the style of the new WWW

A successor to the Hogwarts modular system, so people have to start collecting anew

Buildable objects galore (the Sorting Hat from the survey sounds like an awful idea to me, but so do all of the buildable objects that have already been made, so what do I know?)

Don’t forget about the March wave!

Since a new Hogwarts system certainly wouldn’t be introduced until the big June wave, we might still get one expansion in the 2021 style in March. Also, we can surely expect a new gimmick type of set (no idea what though).

Like I've said before, I think LEGO are done with the modular system. That's just my impression, though.

I fully agree with you about the gimmicks - like this year's March wave consisting mostly of weird banners -, but I wouldn't even know where to start speculating on those.

OMG my birthday! Can you say where you heard this info? :)

Will be interesting to see how it looks since people have been asking for the set since DA came out :excited:
I guess a "leak" maximum 24 hours before if something leak from the press release, it is not like the set go for sale soon so a picture from a shop may pop up..

*Flashbacks to false "leaks"*

I don't know. All the previous HP D2C sets were revealed in August and released on or around 1 September. Already revealing it in July seems sus.

Exabricks is quite reliable though. And revealing it two weeks earlier than usual isn‘t too farfetched :classic:

I guess we'll see on 18 July. ;)

Yeah, I‘m not fully buying it, but I also have no reason to outright deny the rumour, so we shall see :shrug_oh_well:

Either way, the wait is almost over, after more than three years. Hope it‘ll be worth it, but judging by what we know already, it does have „set a the year“ potential!

According to @Brick Clicker, 10 of the 13 minifigs in the Gringotts set will be new :excited: Wonder who the repeats are gonna be. Bellatrix and Griphook seem likely, even though the DH version of the latter was part of the first CMF, so the torso print would have to be new. Unless it's PS Griphook from the 2021 AC :shrug_oh_well:

The thing is, ‘Bellatrix’ is actually a polyjuiced Hermione, and thus requires an alternate Hermione face and hair (and if lego has any sense printed legs because the skirt piece just won’t work for fitting in a mine cart and jumping on the back of a dragon). There’d only be a regular Bellatrix if they decided to heavily follow the theme park ride’s story, and I think that would be too confusing for a wider audience (it’s a different matter to theoretically include Bill, since we all know he works there).

I expect one of the repeats will be Harry himself. He’s got a plaid button up layered between his grey hoodie and red t-shirt in this scene, but it’s close enough for lego to recycle the grey and red torso they’ve repeatedly used for Harry before - especially in a set that requires so many other new prints.

I also wouldn’t be surprised to see something that mostly looks like a repeat for the CMF Griphook from series 2(although hopefully they throw us a bone and give us the advent calendar head). It’s been far longer than it was when they used the Sprout hair/head/torso from the same series in a regular set as well after all. And Dobby and Moody/Crouch have also shown up in sets nearly unchanged from their original cmf versions as well.

As far as the third repeat goes, I’m expecting a slightly random choice to represent some hapless bank patron who’s chosen the worst time ever to make a withdrawal. Although the heroes do have a close call with a Death Eater there in the books, so a seedier customer like Scaboir, Greyback, Yaxley, or Borgin are also options. We also know that Stan Shunpike is kicking around working for Voldy under the imperius curse in the DH book.

The other 10 minifigs being new is definitely exciting though. Sounds like we can look forward to the goblin hair being recolored at the very least.

You‘re right, he was in S2! Still, they haven‘t reused many of the prints there, so I‘d still expect DH Griphook to get a new torso print (if he‘s included, that is). Why they still refuse to use the CMF faceprints for Bellatrix and HBP Hermione in regular sets is beyond me.

And yeah, of course it‘s a polyjuiced Hermione that should be in the set and a new dual-sided faceprint would be great, but it‘s just cheaper to instead include two reused heads, so that‘s what they likely did

They’ve literally never done that for someone using polyjuice before though. I can’t see them doing it now when it would be called out as a decline in quality by literally everyone. Especially since, frankly, this also needs to be the first ‘Bellatrix Lestrange’ fig to use legs - riding out on the Ironbelly just won’t work with a skit piece. Frankly, I’d be less surprised if some of our ‘repeats’ are just duplicates of new figs introduced in the set (see the centaurs introduced in 2020), since I’m pretty sure that would be the same/cheaper for the budget as reusing an old fig.

On an unrelated note, Brick Clicker’s video also claims that the Clint Barton from the upcoming Marvel cmf will be accompanied by a new owl mold. Given that we already have resting a flying owls, and looking at the actual scene in the show, this might indicate a new small owl that could be used for Pigwidgeon. Or whoever leaked the info to Brick Clicker just isn’t fully brushed up on the current lego menagerie.

True, but they couldn‘t have gotten away with it for those minifigs as the respective polyjuiced characters didn‘t exist separately before (i.e., Barty Crouch Jr, Crabbe, Goyle, Grindelwald). Here, they theoretically could do that. Of course I‘m hoping for a new dual-sided head with unique expressions instead! :classic:

I doubt the goblins will all have unique parts, so I assume there are two dual-sided faceprints, three different hairpieces, and two torso prints. These parts could then easily be used to create a variety of goblins

Don’t forget, in addition to goblins there are uniformed wizard guards in DH2, so that’s another set of characters that would use duplicate parts for multiple characters.

Good point! We need two of those doofuses to send down into the abyss along with their mine cart :laugh_hard:
