But mtdbricks also calls it “cheap” and “small”, and while a $100 Sorting Hat is definitely cheaper and smaller than the original Icons set, it couldn’t really be called either of those things on it’s own.

At $100, it‘s by far the cheapest 18+ set in the HP range. Also, speaking of age recommendations: it‘s the only 18+ set in this wave, the others are 7+, 8+, or 9+ :classic: If it‘s not the $100 set, that would mean there are two buildable objects in here, and one of them would be an 8+ set. Doesn‘t make much sense, does it

According to mtdbricks, one of the sets is an „Icons“ set (as in an addition to the Hogwarts Icons set, not as part of the Icons theme). No further details, but this further supports the idea that the $100 set is the Sorting Hat from the survey leak :classic:

So far I have seen no solid evidence for any of the survey leak sets coming, so a set like that could be anything and not just the hat. I think it is better to keep an open mind to what D2C sets are coming next year, some people seem to think that the survey leak basically is the hole D2C lineup for next year, but until we get some solid evidence we know nothing. We might not get a single one from that survey, but I desperately hope we get the marked village, time will tell :sceptic:

Yeah, I think it’s jumping the gun to assume any of those sets are a certainty. There were apparently plenty of preexisting sets in that survey too - the survey was about gathering comprehensive data on how much customers are willing to pay for things, not a poll to see how much they should charge for upcoming sets. The images that leaked were sketch models that were convenient for the survey designers to grab images and data for, whether those sketch models make the cut into production is another matter entirely.

The GWP 40598.Gringotts Dungeon appeared on LEGO site. The threshold should be 130€ of Harry Potter products (this in the last Promobricks article I've read).

If this would be the case, I will postpone Gringotts set purchase waiting for a better occasion and buying something else.

Aragog hasn’t been done since 2018, and a remake of the CoS scene featuring him would be one of the best/easiest places for lego to finally give us Fang. (I’ve also asserted in the past that lego could easily use an Aragog set to give us another Ford Anglia, and you know how much they love to do that)

There’s also the Fluffy encounter - widely regarded as a let down so therefore prime material for a remake (see the Hungarian Horntail). Honestly, if someone told me the 18+ set from the wave was a diorama style set featuring Hermione’s infamous “or worse, expelled” line as a quote tile I wouldn’t be surprised.

And, of course, Hagrid’s hut is about due for a remake too. Between people wanting Fang and people wanting baby Norbert like the 2001 set featured lego would be hard pressed not to get a positive response to that. (Although that would hypothetically be one of the larger sets in the wave)

The Knight Bus, likewise, has not been done in a few years, and is within the appropriate size range.

It also wouldn’t shock me if we got a proper ‘final challenge’ set from SS/PS. Since we essentially just got the mirror and Quirrel added on to the spectacular Great Hall set that acted as the flagship for the reboot back in 2018 - but might have been a tad inaccessible to see one people.
And that’s not even touching on the troll in the bathroom or chamber of winged keys - both technically remakes but desperately due remakes after all this time.

Look at the pricepoints though. $14.99, $19.99, $37.99, $74.99, $44.99, $29.99, and the 18+ set at $99.99. Four of those sets are under $40. There’s no way Hagrid’s Hut, Fluffy’s Encounter, or the Knight Bus would be released in 2024 for under $40. The Knight Bus could maybe be the $44.99 set with 364 parts. The $74.99 set contains 896 parts and we’ve never seen a 2019+ playscale set with Hagrid come in at less than 10¢ppp so that’s definitely not Hagrid’s Hut and probably not a Fluffy Encounter remake either. On the opposite end of things I’d say the 18+ set has too few parts for Hagrid’s Hut or Fluffy to be safe guesses  and is probably something that would require a lot of larger parts. As for the final challenge and chamber of the winged keys, those aren’t really the kind of remakes we’d be told to not get our hopes up about. Safe to assume ‘remakes’ means stuff that’s already been made since 2018.

Aragog and the Ford Anglia seem like safe guesses, each as their own individual sets with the Ford Anglia being Speed Champions style to appeal to that market. Otherwise maybe we could get a graveyard duel remake (although that still might be too dark for the 2021+ era?) or OOTP room of requirement. Hopefully there isn’t too long of a wait for set names.

Yeah, that‘s what I‘m expecting, plus a remake or two of elements from previous gimmick sets (e.g., a DADA classroom in the modular style). Definitely remakes from the post-2018 era, as remakes of older stuff would hardly be disappointing to most people

Either way, I thank the leakers for the warnings, so we can be spared from disappointment :snicker:

It would be funny if we would get some mechs. (Just a guess)

You better be kidding.

Lego employee: 'How about Harry Potter mechs?'

Dumbledore: 'We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy.'

Lego boss: 'Mechs it is!'

Dumbledore shakes his head.

What if one of the remakes is the Gringotts vault system with the tracks. Now that would be strange and underwhelming for all those who have just purchased Gringotts. Would also explain why leakers might be holding off releasing info.

In the UK, the threshold is £115 for the Gringotts Vault GWP and £35 for the Quidditch Practice polybag. I'm glad the vault is quite low so that people who want Gringotts but can't get it right away don't miss out on the promo. The sales are save 20% if you buy both Gryffindor and Ravenclaw, or Slytherin and Hufflepuff, banners at the same time.

They’ll make Harry and Hermione mechs but no Ron.

Actually let’s stop this bit now. We sort of willed UCS Dobby’s sock into existence, let’s not make the same mistake here.

Mistake?! How dare you. Dobby‘s sock is a sacred, holy gift offered to mankind by the noble LEGO gods. Not revering its glory, as we have foretold for many many moons, is nothing short of HERESY. You must be punished accordingly. PREPARE THE KRAGLE

What time do things tend to go on sale on the online Lego shop? Is it generally midnight?

Sometimes it's midnight, and other times it's 1am, 2am, or even 10am. Though some of those might be specific to Central Europe

Theoretically, but it can depend on your location. The US site has new sets go live at midnight EST, so those of us on the west coast can place orders at 9pm. If you don’t know where the version of the website you used is based out of it might be worthwhile to check, that would likely help figure out what time zone you should be looking at.

My store (NZ) only has a single timezone so fingers crossed for midnight and not needing to wait until EST hitting the 1st most of a day later

What is everyone planning to buy on Friday? For me, I'm only getting Gringotts and not the Hogwarts Castle. I've saved up a lot of points and I'm also going to use a gift card from my birthday, so I only have to spend £95 on it. I'm excited to get the GWP, although I always planned to buy it day one regardless.

I already got the microscale castle last week and pre-ordered all the Ahsoka and Disney sets, so it's "just" Gringotts, the Gunship, and the Sonic BrickHeadz. Thanks to the 698 instruction booklets I scanned last Saturday, I will also get a nice discount

Is the goblin in the GWP meant to be the PS Head goblin? He has the face with the glasses, but even more, he has the outfit Ricbert wears in the Gringotts-set, who was head goblin in DH2.

That's what I would've guessed. None of the goblins seen in DH fit, and the expression and glasses are a good fit for the head goblin in PS :classic: Quite useful to recreate the scene from PS, especially since we already have the PS version of Griphook too!

Not really massive news, but a list of 2024 polybags has leaked and 30677 is the Harry Potter one. Nothing more detailed yet and not really shocking since we’ve been getting one every year, but I figured it was worth noting we’ve got a set number for it now.

Does anyone know if the 20% off banners will be in store or online only?

You can find offer conditions on the proper page on LEGO website.

Aren't you from UK? Or am I confusing you with someone else? Anyway, this is the page for UK Back to Hogwarts | Official LEGO® Shop GB.
At the bottom of the page you can read:

Quote

Offer is valid for orders online at LEGO.com, in LEGO Stores and for LEGO Catalogue telephone orders from 01/09/2023 to 10/09/2023, or while stocks last.
