I wonder how many owls the set will have :moar: If it had been 20 years ago it would probably have over 10

Well, the old owl part was unprinted, so of course they easily could have included 10 of them in a set  I‘m expecting 5 or 6 in the new set.

I would guess it’s four owls for a set since owl molds are expensive to make?

The set shouldn’t require any new molds, the only new things we’re really expecting to see are a recolor+new print of the small owl and new torso prints for Harry and Cho. There are about 4 regular owls and 3 flying owls (omitting ones exclusive to CMFs or BAM) that already exist and are available to the designers for just the cost of the part. Now the owl pieces themselves are a little pricier than the average brick, but they’re in the same ballpark as some minifig parts, so it’s not necessarily something you’d expect to make a major dent in the budget unless there were lots of them.

That's why the price per piece ratio keeps getting brought up. The Owlery is $7 more expensive than the boathouse but only 14 more pieces - and it’s supposed to have one less minifigure. Considering that the boathouse will likely feature a large molded rowboat (which is significantly more expensive a part than any owl) those numbers are telling. That’s why a lot of us are guessing more in the 5 or 6 range here.

We-ell, we had the Owl Post with the Diagon Alley WWW set and that one had a whopping TWO. One of which was the SHOP SIGN!

I wouldn't get my hopes up too high is all I'm saying.

That was a side build though - just look at the actual store the set was named for. WWW featured two new product prints: the fanged frisbee and the pink puffskien (which we got two of) as well as new torso prints for all seven minifigs.

The upcoming Owlery set is focused on the Owlery and should only need two new torsos. Given what we know I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw one spread winged owl, two or three regular owls, and an identical pair of the new small owls with a new color and print.

Pygmy Puff, not Puffskien, otherwise I agree :classic:

Does anyone know if the same print on a different colour costs extra money? For example, could the Tan Owl print be repeated on, say, an Owl in Medium Brown coloured plastic, saving the cost of a new print?

Hard to know, but would not surprise me. In my youth they reused the same print in different colours for different characters, I assume that was to save money :shrug_oh_well:

True, I know. But Pygmy Puffs are supposed to be miniature puffskiens, and Lego’s awkward scaling means the Lego Pygmy Puffs end up more the size of regular puffskiens compared to minifigures, so I often think of them like that instead.

Well then, maybe there’s hope of getting the Pygmy Puff/puffskien in a different color in the Magical Creatures set coming up. I’m pretty sure they could the current print on purple without it looking odd at all.

I would guess that you safe money by doing so given you don´t need to design a new print, and then make the forms for the print. But you will still need the money for logistics for instance.

The same print on a different color would still be considered a new part, so it would cost factory space and likely some degree of money, even if that isn't spent in development time for the print itself.

That is what I meant with logistics ;).

There is a five pack in March but it's unknown what the characters are

So... Speculation? Speculation! What are your guesses? Five is a weird number.

The Marauders and Lily

Assorted Weasleys - Ginny, Fred, George, Molly, Arthur; all of them seem more likely than Percy, and Bill and Charlie don't even have minifigs of their own, on the other hand, with all the ginger (and I say this as a redhead), it wouldn't visually pop. Or put the parents in an OotP set and include Ron and Percy with their siblings

Order of the Phoenix - we have Tonks, Kingsley, Snape, Moody, Dumbledore and Hagrid, so Lupin and Sirius seem like good options, maybe Mundungus and Mrs. Figg, Molly and Arthur if there isn't a Weasley set, but I think the rest seem less probable

Death Eaters - Lucius, Narcissa, a generic Death Eater, Pettigrew... here again, the rest seem less probable as we have Voldemort, Bellatrix, and Nagini already. Maybe the Carrows in this context, they can serve double duty by fleshing out the ranks of the teachers as well

DADA instructors - we've got Snape and Moody; Quirrell, Lockhart, Lupin, Umbridge, and maybe DA's Carrow

Professors of Hogwarts 2 - we're missing Flitwick and Sprout from the Heads of House; in addition to any of the DADA instructors above, Hooch, Slughorn, Pomfrey, Pince... But Binns, Babbling, Vector, Burbage and Alecto Carrow seem unlikely. Sinistra is more probable both for having a minifig and lego's interest in more diversity. Aside from Cho and Kingsley (and maybe Voldemort), I don't think any of the BrickHeadz in the HP line have been POC.

I don't think you can scrape together five recognisable people from the MoM, unless we include Umbridge and Arthur here, and that's still pushing things

Nothing else leapt to mind. Any one have any other ideas?

The four Hogwarts Founders + the architect’s statue maybe?

Well I actually wouldn´t be surpirsed if we got a new Dumbledore. Given the other persons they already did and which are still missing I would guess for Dumbledore, Sirius, Lupin, Molly and Arthur maybe?

Just looked through this year’s Brickheadz and the only 5 pack was a ‘Battle of Endor’ Star Wars one, so perhaps a battle themed line up?

Like Harry, Ginny, Fawkes, Ron, and Lockhart from the Chamber of Secrets

Or Harry, Hermione, Buckbeak, Padfoot, and Moony from PoA

Or Dumbledore, Harry, Sirius, Lupin, and Tonks from the Department of Mysteries

Or Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, and Molly from the Battle of Hogwarts

Great suggestions, @Accio Lego and @Black Falcon. I can't believe I keep forgetting creatures... :pir_laugh2: Scabbers and Crooks come to mind. Snape's doe patronus and Harry's stag. Fawkes and Fang, although we haven't seen Fang or the Doe in a set yet. (Here's hoping they address that next year.) Padfoot and maybe Lupin's werewolf.

I could see them doing packs like Dumbledore with Fawkes and Lucius with Dobby (though it is kinda hard to imagine him as Brickheadz - but they also did Gollum, didn´t they?) and well maybe less likely Finch and Mrs. Norris - then again they already did Pets brickheads, so why not.

However not really the material for a 5-Pack since I would guess we would get some kind of theme like we got with teachers then. If we get a pack with missing Teachers I would guess for Lupin, Flitwick, Sprout, Slughorn, Dumbledore (even if he isn´t teaching anymore)

Snape's doe patronus

Now there’s an idea, a Patronus pack - Harry’s stag, Hermione’s otter, Ron’s terrier, Luna’s hare and Dumbledore’s pheonix or Lupin’s wolf. The alternate builds with all those parts available would be endless.

Speaking of which, I still can't believe that they never released official alternate builds for the regular Patronus set. We get the wolf that never appears, but no instructions for doe and otter and co. What gives?

I'd actually really like a Crooks BrickHeadz at some point, because they do such nice work with weird things. Bellatrix' hair and Nagini remain two of my favourites.

I can sort of understand not bothering with the doe, since all you really need to do is remove the antlers off the stag build and even people completely new to MOCing should be able to work that out on their own. But an otter, hate, terrier, and cat would probably make for popular alternate builds amount fans.

Glad to see Norbert and Fang in Hagrid's hut. And Harry in his green sweater. Best of all is Hagrid in his apron. But the actual hut itself seems very small.

The owlery is okay but a bit too small and underutilized. Not as many owls as I would have liked but that's to be expected and the red one is brilliant.

The boathouse is the best. Hope that connects to the castle.

The Ford Anglia is fine but nothing new. Good for kids to get a cheap set though.

The Hedwig set might be worth it for the photo of baby Harry with his parents. I think that's a new piece. Like the History of Magic textbook as well.

I see the boxes mention the inclusion of mystery portraits in each set. I guess that's the new chocolate frog.

The hut is straight out the first two films. Turns out the the side building that was mentioned is Fang's doghouse, not the extra room added in Prisoner of Azakaban. The Owlery is a surprise. Doesn't look like it's supposed to match the modular line. No connector pins and it has grey roofs!
