Xcube Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Weird that we only saw Dobby because Thalia listed the pictures of Dobby under 76412 Hufflepuff House Banner xD
Yope Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Hahaha amazing, actually less cursed than expected from the blurry image and kinda cute. We've memed Dobby's sock into the pages of LEGO history forever now!
Ravenclaw62442 Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Dobby has no minifigs so it’ll be a pass for me!
Retro Brick Reviews Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 UCS DOBBY'S SOCK SWEEP!!!!! In all seriousness, this set is basically what I'd hoped for. Dobby is small (i.e. not some huge display model) and very ugly-cute. My only issue is the price, $40 seems like a lot for something so little especially when it looks like over 1/4 of the piece count goes into the pudding.
empiresperish Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Really should have made Dobby like hedwig and fawkes so you can turn a crank and have him hit himself with a lamp.

Don't say that, they'll actually do it 17 minutes ago, BrickBob Studpants said: Proud of us for memeing this set into reality Agreed. I'm basically done with LEGO Harry Potter (I've gone from buying every set to picking up 1 or 2 a year), but I'm definitely getting this just for how absolutely SURREAL it is that UCS Dobby's Sock actually exists.
NostalgicBricks Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 (edited) To me the Pygmy Puff looks like a new mould, but we'll wait and see. Dobby is adorable and he will be going on my desk. WWW looks a bit more basic than the Diagon Alley version (the big statue specifically looks very bare bones) but one of the things I felt about the original WWW was that its interior needed more stuff to make if feel more alive, as it was basically just filled with coloured bricks. So I'll be glad to add the Pygmy Puff cage and the Puking Pastilles boy (and whatever else might be inside) to my big WWW. All of this annoying drip-feeding leaks could have just been avoided if Lego had announced the sets last week. This is way too late IMO. Edited April 28, 2023 by NostalgicBricks

THELEGOBATMAN Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Wait, Dobby actually looks... okay? I really expected another cursed buildable figure, but he's pretty good.

RODDY Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 The Dobby set is absolutely adorable that is absolute objective fact. I simply won’t hear otherwise.
Slytherin Alumni Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Dobby’s actually kindof cute lol. I didn’t plan on getting this one, but if I see it on discount later, I just might. Like others have said, it’s cool that it even exists!
someguy827 Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Does anyone know if Dobby's fingers are a new piece? I can't seem to figure out if I've seen them used before.

TheInvisibleMan Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 I only just got a chance to catch up on the latest info and pictures. If I’m honest, the WWW looks, well… cheap. I’ll reserve jugement for when I see it in the flesh, but it just doesn’t do it for me (which I was really hoping it would).
karrit Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Sorry to say I'm not too thrilled with Dobby. I was really looking forward to him but he seems a bit too blocky & square, kind of like an oversized & extended but not in a good way brickheadz. I like his head but the body just seems oversimplified. I guess I was expecting something a bit more rounded & fleshed out like Grogu & Hedwig. And the cake is just a bunch of cheap parts I have plenty of so easily replicated.
brickbride Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 (edited) Yeah, I'm kind of baffled by all the enthusiasm, too. What's with the ears? They're barely connected to the head! I'm also glad that the second building with WWW is a random (and tiny!) owl post office no-one's wanted instead of something cool I might actually have to get. :-) Edited April 28, 2023 by brickbride
Vindicare Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Well, I’m not entirely sure how I feel about WWW. The new addition is ridiculously small but I still kinda want it because it’s new. Same with the two new wizards. If I can find it miraculously on a good discount I may snatch it.

I’m not sure how much of it is true enthusiasm and how much is shock because he’s not completely cursed like brick built Yoda and other buildable figures lego has done in the past. Personally, I’m pleasantly surprised that his face is actually cute instead of creepy, but the arms and feet are a bit to off for me to think I’ll pick it up anytime soon.
(Insert Name Here) Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 Bit late to the party, but I thought I'd put in my thoughts. Weasley Wizard Wheezes looks alright. Thought they might have made it a little bigger to distinguish it from the Diagon Alley build. But for what it is I don't mind it. I like the design of the Weasley statue with the rabbit detail on top. The build of the Puking Pastille display is also good. Eyelops Owl Emporium is a bit odd, I think maybe the pieces could've just made WWW better. Minifig selection is also okay, idk who the two on the left are meant to be though. As for Dobby. It actually looks quite good, much more cute than the Baby Groot. It's not a ridiculously massive build. I won't be getting it, but it's cute. The book and pudding builds are also pretty iconic.
Brickity Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 There’s something about this Dobby set that has caught my interest, don’t know if it’s because of how goofy it looks or what, but I do like it.
