karrit Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 (edited) With all of the postings of which Marvel figures have parts useful for HP I can see I'm going to need to try to get some duplicates of a few of them now. I ordered a full set because I wanted to be sure I got all 12. But I'm not looking forward to playing blind box roulette to try for a few duplicates. Maybe I'll order a six pack from somewhere and take my chances with that. Still anxiously waiting to see some pictures of the rumored upcoming HP Vault GWP. Edited August 4, 2023 by karrit

How far ahead of time do we typically see leaks for those anyway? If the promo coincides with the release we might see something soon. I’m really interested to finally see it. With all three movie vaults in the big set, it’s hard to guess what the gwp will cover and therefore what minifigures might come with it. The original speculation was that it would be one of the two SS vaults with scruffy hand-me-downs Harry but both ended up in the set so who knows? Has there ever been any possibility that it’s not actually a vault but instead something completely unrelated?

The rumors for this one have been out for months.

Black Falcon Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Given the castle is almost complete, I think there are still some things missing for this wave. Hagrids Hut, Aragog, just to name two. Hagrids Hut would actually be my guess for the 75$ set. I kinda like the idea that was mentioned here, that the 100$ Set could be a diorama set with the troll. I guess it still is one of the most iconic scenes in HP and a new troll mould would fit into the high price per part. Wouldn´t be that hard to find a fitting quote there either. Would hope for the 45$ one to be Aragog then. Although I also would like to have a new Sturmstrang ship, I don´t see it coming at least in this wave, so lets hope for the Summer one here. For the rest, they could literally be anything. Would guess they would make at least one buildable figure, like dobby or the Patronus. Also wouldn´t wonder if one of the low ones would be Arthurs car. Hagrids Motorcycle doesn´t seem that unlikely to me either. And finally I think one of the sets will be and expansion to the castle, adding the greenhouses. Oh and for me it is also possible that they would ad an other banner, this time the one from Hogwarts itself, with Dumbledores Office inside. Would actually be my guess for the 38$ one.

At the very least I’d like confirmation of the dates it will be available so I know when I’m heading to the Lego store.
karrit Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 If it's anything like the last one it will run out within the first couple of days unfortunately. I was out of town last year so was only able to place one order before they ran out.

Exactly, that why you have to know ahead of time - so you can get to the store early when it starts or place your order as soon as it goes live on shop@home. I’ve been planing purchases around these things since the micro Diagon Alley gwp when the theme rebooted in 2018, and in past years there’s usually been delays between big releases and promos. I’m fine with that, but not knowing for sure whether we’re lookout the promo starting on September 1st for the VIP release or four days after for the general release is making me antsy.
mark1991t Posted August 8, 2023 Posted August 8, 2023 A new photo on Instagram shows Bellatrix' vault does not have just 1 cup. It has a play-feature that multiplies the cups. There are more than 10 pictured.

I was expecting a turntable with two cups on the other side, not a play feature with 10+ of them dropping out! Looks awesome!

That’s a pretty fun play feature, kinda a shame they went back to the handleless goblet piece for Hufflepuff’s cup, but it’s not like they took advantage of using the small trophy in the Banner set to print a badger on it, so if going back to the goblet makes an extra play element possible I’m all for it.

Bricknificent Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 Brick Depot on Youtube has a video of the Gringrots set. Unboxing and speedbuild.
BrickBob Studpants Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 Wait, Bogrod has a soot-covered alternate face? That‘s hilariously dark

Roebuck Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 Magical Menagerie looks like have some interior, but it is so small so it seems its main purpose is to make Gringotts look bigger
mark1991t Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 (edited) Some things I noticed in the video, playing it at a quarter speed: Gold is hidden everywhere. The philosophers stone is a diamant piece as expected. I counted at least 12 cups for Bellatrix' vault and at least 16 printed coins. The Menagerie has a cash registrar at the bottom floor and a hairbrush pieces in a drawer. At the second floor there is a daily prophet print (the 2018 one) and there is some hidden gold in the top. There is some glass scattered around at the bottom floor off Gringotts. The ceiling looks to be removable, so the dragon can actually escapes through the building. On the wall of the upper floor of Gringotts, there's a portret of one of the random goblins from 2011's Daigon Alley 2002's Gringotts (a sticker unfortunately). The 2022 daily prophet is also included at the top off the (locker)wall outside. The large scale coins are at least 3x3 studs wide, could be 4x4. And for the 'Gringot ts Bank'-stickers; you have to cut them if you want them accurate to the movies, there is to much white at the and of 'Gringot' and at the front of 'ts'. Still no idea what‘s going on with the three giant coins though Glad to hear the PS is included, even though it‘s just the regular gem piece. At least it‘s consistent with the 2018 Mirror of Erised!

The 3 giant coins are this set's equivalent to the Hogwarts ticket from 76405. They've just been adding in bits and pieces to extend Icons with each new D2C since, which I appreciate.

Kinda funny how much other themes are struggling with their budgets, while HP gets to have printed bonus coins, just for shits and giggles

Kinda funny how much other themes are struggling with their budgets, while HP gets to have printed bonus coins, just for shits and giggles I think people forget that Harry Potter doesn't have a whole lot of specialized moulds or printing. LEGO has made excellent versions of the figs from day 1 like Hagrid that they've been able to reuse since 2018 with minimal changes, which inevitably lends more budget to other parts of the set. They also don't have a fanbase that consistently complains about arm and leg printing, as most characters don't really need it, which also means more budget towards the set itself. Additionally, HP relies a lot more on stickers for designs, which also means less budget towards printed parts overall. Pair that with removing any "Disney/SW tax" and you have a theme that can be a lot better as far as PPP ratios and such, as well as little yearly extras like the ticket or coins.

Harry Potter has its fair share of exclusive moulds introduced every year: creatures (pixie and grindylow, Thestral and baby Thestral, spread wing owl), Minifigure parts (McGonagall hat, Sinistra hat, Pomfret hat), plus some other things like the newer broom bottom piece, the wand initially and now the new dual moulded wand, the magic blasts pack. And those are just some that come to mind introduced specifically in sets, not mentioning the special parts introduced in the two CMF series and carried over into sets. There are also plenty of printed accessories in HP like tiles and things. The only real difference compared to Star Wars in my opinion is that HP still has far fewer sets per year, and clearly has a decent budget, so perhaps we're seeing the effects of a good budget concentrated in fewer sets.
Surge Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 how much longer are we thinking until the gringotts promo is revealed? ive been going back and forth if im buying it day 1 (or at all) and I think that promo will help with the choice
Black Falcon Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 I don´t think it will take that much longer. I mean it is only half a month left till the GWP is supposed to become avaiable. I don´t think Lego sends them out to the shops too close to that date, and I would expect some leaks when they get them.
