I doubt they would want to replace this line with Sonic just yet. I would imagine they would want to see how Sonic fares on its first wave before they end this product line first. Would be just as odd to refresh the line with minifigures after all of the money/effort put into this iteration of the characters.

Bought my first few little blind boxes just because I passed a toy store.

Got just 2.

Reminded me why I hate blind stuff. It's just gambling.

Loved the first one. Bloopers. Cool! Classic Mario enemy.

Opened the second one... more Bloopers!

DARN YOU BLIND STUFF!

I find it hard to believe they're going to cancel this line just as the movie blew up. In my experience kids love it.

Well they got the most things covered by now (sadly still missing two koopalings), so there is some lego mario fatigue at least with me.
If they keep the ip i think they should start a Mario Kart line. With minifigs and playfeature karts. It’s still going to be a playful, kidfriendly theme that way and they can rehash all the enemies and worlds again.
But an other brick company did that as well some years ago, so maybe they are not allowed too? Maybe that was the reason of the whole digimario to begin with?

I remember reading an interview that suggested minifigures were originally on the table but both Nintendo and TLG liked the Digifig idea more than traditional sets, the new sonic sets look to be the best of both worlds there though ( decent looking builds and traditional(ish) minifigs but with a course buildings element present (and non-electronic so cheaper and imo looks more fun)

I mean I think there's still so much they could (and I want them to) do with this line. Wario, Waluigi, Daisy, Rosalina, Lumas, King Bob-omb, Goomboss, the Whomp King, Petey Piranha, Gooper Blooper...

If I were in charge, that would be the bare minimum.

Hi,

I'm stilling thinking ( perhaps naively 🙉) that it's not to end the theme, just to transition ⚧️ the theme into a minifig one? ( Though I'm on team normal normal minifigs, not pinocchio 🤥 noses 👃 or molded heads🥸)

I’m interested to see what the 18+ set will be this year

Oooo I hope it would be a minifigure set.

Buildable character might be quite good for large Mario & try & incorporate the electronic figure some how.

Oh no, please not a Hulkbuster type thing where they make a figure with entirely the wrong proportions, just to be able to fit a digifigure inside for no sensible reason.

Nh, I prefer minifigure-scale set!

It worked for bowser but mario is human so there's the uncanny valley effect to think about.

We will get everything except this. Just have to accept it I’m afraid.

, in that case, it’s too easy for me to pass it if it’s just a silly giant Mario set.

Good looking set. Will be nice to see how it pairs up with the big Bowser's Airship set from before. Nice to see Larry make a reappearance since the set he came in first is now discontinued.

Not a big fan of Morton's design though. He needs to be girthier than the other Koopa Kids of course but I think they may have overdone it? Also those color locked arm joints...

Like 71391 Bowser's Airship it has a transformative feature where Morton's Airship opens up to reveal a (granted: small and minimal) boss room!

I don't like how they skimped out on providing 2x2 black circle tiles to put inside the canons so they appear to have depth - like they DID do in 71391...

Also nice to get another Pirate Goomba. Now there are two of them!

A great set that I plan on getting. My fave of this new wave. And that's saying something as a pretty big DK fan.

Here's hoping there will be one final wave for January 2024 with Roy Koopa. I'll gladly fork down another 100 for one of those Koopa tanks made from wooden logs with the big cannons all over!

They couldn't use 2x2 circle tiles in these cannons, since they're smaller cannons made with Belville-style buckets (which don't have studs inside like the 3x3 cylinders used for the larger airship).
