Posted January 7, 20232 yr It's been a while since I last did a contest, this one is perfect to get back into it. The Arctic Explorer, an Ice Planet MOC. It was quite challenging to be using only four colours, Especially when I realized the only transparent orange canopy I had was one from the Aquasharks. Building a Jet fighter has been on my list for some time so I decided shape my space ship accordingly. I never owned any of the Ice Planet 2002 sets though, I think I've got the minifigs' visor from a Time Cruisers set . I did get these printed blue canopies from a friend, years ago, they were excellent to hide the small vehicle and satellite. The trike folds to fit in the cargo bay. I'm not entirely happy with it though, I think the front is a bit messy, a differently shaped canopy may have been helpful here. It was a fun exercise, quite challenging. EDIT: I forgot to show off it's radar . It folds into the fuselage, though in quite a cumbersome way. Spoiler Edited January 8, 20232 yr by Sebeus I Added pictures
January 7, 20232 yr Beautifully designed Ice Planet Jet! I almost love the underside as much as the top. Smooth and slick just like the icy environment it flies through!
January 17, 20232 yr Wicked design. Looks mean with the shark canopy and still retains the Ice Planet 2002 feel. The aft dorsal and ventral compartments are a neat touch. The dorsal hatch ability to move in two ways to open up for the big radar is ingenious.
February 22, 20232 yr The fighter jet influence is very clear, and makes for a great shape. Love the storage bay for the trike, and how it naturally incorporates a ramp
February 28, 20231 yr Love how sleek of a jet you managed to make, especially while integrating some retro canopies!
March 12, 20231 yr I can't believe you used that Aquasharks canopy in a MOC in a way that really made perfect sense...that thing has been the "other" canopy piece to me since ancient times. But it makes perfect sense on such an aggressive looking fighter. Ice planet colors are so good I really missed out on the deep freeze defender back then.....
