The doors are held in position using sliding axle (8L with stop) trough a pinhole, generating sufficient friction. The engine cover is spring loaded. Both are visible if you look closely.

Spray painted. RAL 1023 (satin) should match perfectly.

The daytona supplies 49% of the parts.

Porsche, Bugatti and Sian. Daytona wheels don't fit

 

Update: Purist can consult a preliminary pary list here. A small number of parts are not available in the selected colour, however all of these can easiliy be substituted by different colour without too much visual compromise. Note however that this part list will not be 100% identical to the one of the CaDa model, if case you plan on using its instructions to make a Lego built copy.

I remember building Bruno's Red Supercar and hating the chromed wheels. I substituted with Sian wheels & tyres but if I remember correctly I had to replace the hubs, discs & brakes as well. It definately wasn't just a case of replacing the wheels and I am disappointed that yet again Cada choose chrome wheels. To me they are something you won't see on a current supercar.

Fantastic build !

Congratulations for rendering both the body and chassis so well - I would gladly buy a "chassis only" version to display near the finished car !!!

I would debate the active anti-roll system, though, because it makes the car look weird when steered (I don't think the 1:1 car takes that much roll !!!) but have to admit tech you put into is remarkable ;)

When scaling down to 1:8 you have to exaggerate some things to make them visible, playable, and enjoyable.

For example, to have realistic supercar suspension travel, one could just get rid of the shock absorbers altogether! If you push down on such a model, the natural flexibility of the plastic will render sufficient suspension travel already....

The nice part about this function is that you can switch it on or off by sliding one 20t gear, also shown in the video. This also makes it easy to center the suspension on the front and rear axles.

.. i have never realized, even after building the Daytona, that 60483 Technic Beam 1 x 2 Thick with Pin Hole and Axle Hole is NOT existing in red!

All i can tell you is the whole section was redesigned by CADA. I dont think you will be able to get the original version from the designer.

Pricing the pieces out for this set based upon the parts list that was posted earlier...

Had to make a few minor substitutions but I think I got it.  To my surprise, if ordering the parts separately after shipping it's over $1200 (not including wheels) :-( 

It appears there are a few rare parts that are the primary cost drivers:

x10 Technic, Liftarm Thin 1 x 6 in RED (~$15 each)

x4 Technic, Axle and Pin Connector Toggle Joint Smooth in RED (~$20 each)

x2 Technic, Pin Connector Perpendicular 2 x 2 Bent in Dark Blue Grey (~$10 each)

x5 Technic, Liftarm Thick 1 x 2 - Axle Hole in RED (~$20 each)

x6 Technic, Pin 1/2 without Friction Ridges in RED (~$6 each) (I'm guessing without friction ridges would be acceptable?)

 

Maybe the original designer can chime in to give a feel if there are more economical substitutions for the above parts based upon where they are located in the build?  Really want this but can't justify it at this cost. Also willing to purchase the Daytona but after my initial analysis it only shares about 31% of the parts so it's almost a wash.

And then I'd need to find rims/tires...

I might have to stick with the CADA one :-(

These have just been brought back in set 42145, so hopefully they'll be available for reasonable price soon at Lego Pick-a-Brick.

Try Dark Gray or just Light Bluish Gray?

Typically can be replaced by 2 of the thin version.
