BlueBard Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 That's what I was talking about the other day: the one MF "sets". I know TLC released some from Star Wars but I think it would be great to see some more from other themes. Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 If I'm informed correctly, TLC got sued by Hasbro over these figs. Hasbro has the rights to make action figures of Star Wars characters and these "one minifig sets" were deemed too close to "action figures". So TLC can't do this anymore with SW figs and apparently doesn't do it with their other licenses either. Quote
Siegfried Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 These were sold in three mini-fig sets. They weren't sold individually. What you show is a set; I have it too. I bought them at the time as I was in my Dark Ages and was too old to buy sets... Quote

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Bluebard means why lego doesn't do these kind of minifig "sets" from themes like town, castle etc. Kinda crazy of hasbro to call these "action figures" by the way. Siegfried Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 If you look here you can find in a few clicks all the sets that came out in that series. (It wasn't just Star Wars.) I suspect that it wasn't a money maker... but they are worth a bit now! Quote
Shoc Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 I have a Star Wars and a Ninja of these small sets, I like them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Bluebard means why lego doesn't do these kind of minifig "sets" from themes like town, castle etc. I think the modern versions of these sets would be the Impulse sets, and Castle battlepack sets. They are similar to these, but with more accesories, which I suppose is better. Kinda crazy of hasbro to call these "action figures" by the way. They are figures, but not so much action. Hasbro were just being weird... :skull: Quote

I remember hearing that at the time, but it was never clear if that was just fan-based speculation. If anyone has any links to any statements by Hasbro or TLC on the subject, that would be cool. Shoc Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Did you see the price for those, though? $20 USD in the new catalog. That's $5 a minifig. A little steep, IMO. Yeah, it's a con! In the UK it's £12.49 I think, meaning each minifig is £2.50 - $4.95 for US citizens (we have it a little cheaper) and 3.16euro for other Europeans... :skull: Quote

Yes I agree it is a bit steep, since each 3-fig pack was only $5 USD. Looking back retrospectively, I am kicking myself for not getting more of them. Quote
Norrington Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Well, no one is mentioning it, but TLC does do one MF sets. I was at the LEGO store the other day, and picked up the knight. There is also a fire fighter and I believe there is a troll. There might be more. So buck up and don't be so glum. Quote
