Dr Snotson Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 http://P1110591 by Simon Jakobi, auf Flickr To be honest this is my 6th version of the german crocodil. Now she shares the drivetrain with her swiss sister. Each truck is powered by a PF-L-motor. All axles are driven. The third and fourth axle are blind. Therefore the trucks are completly new. I also worked on the fronts of the noses and the shape the roof. I hope, you like the result! JopieK Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Very nice @Dr Snotson, thanks for sharing! (Thought you were new but my bet :)) Quote
Black Knight Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 So cool, awesome job!! Will it finally do away with the L-sized wheels? I have your bricks-on-rails version of the E94 here and while it looks great on its own, it looks very weird right next to your E17, E18 and E19 (which are just the most mindbogglingly awesome "Altbau Elektrolokomotiven"-brick-models ever). Representing the 1250 mm wheels of the E94 with L-wheels looks just out of scale when put next to the 1600 mm wheels of the E17/8/9 which are represented by M-wheels. Quote
Dr Snotson Posted January 17, 2023 Author Posted January 17, 2023 First of all, THX!!! Quote Will it finally do away with the L-sized wheels? I have your bricks-on-rails version of the E94 here and while it looks great on its own, it looks very weird right next to your E17, E18 and E19 (which are just the most mindbogglingly awesome "Altbau Elektrolokomotiven"-brick-models ever). You are right concerning the wheel size issue but please note the following facts: The E94 on bricks-on-rails is NOT my design. It was designed by the owner of the site, Martin. It is one of his masterpieces. My first E94 had S-wheels, that`s why later on I choose M-sized wheels for the E17, E18 and E19. I do not scale. Most important for me is the balance between functionality and recognition factor. Quote
Black Knight Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 Oh, then I am terribly sorry for mixing up your E94 and Martins! But if the new E91 is yours: That one has L-wheels, too! =) (btw. the English description in the shop is lacking the (c) Dr. Snotson description) Anyway: Great work. I would love it even more if it would use M- or S-wheels for it would look sooooo much better right next to any steamer or your E19. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Beautiful ... I love it and the dark green livery makes it even more precious! Quote
Paperinik77pk Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 I missed this post, looking at the red one in 4551 style...but it' never too late! These are both excellent creations and I think that also in blue/white scheme it would be gorgeous! 😍 Great work, really! Davide Quote
Dr Snotson Posted March 8, 2023 Author Posted March 8, 2023 http://DB BR E94 Hildesheimer Steinewelten 2023 by Simon Jakobi, auf Flickr Quite a solid performance during Hildesheimer Steinewelten. Like her predecessor she is a beast. She pulled 60 axles through the R88 curves and still even asked for more! Unfortunately there were some derailments when she left a curve and encountered a turnout without a piece of strait track in between. I think this is due to the low weight on the first axles of the trucks. Although the pivot point is between the first an the second axle it is quite close to the second axle. Unfortunately I did not find time during the event to switch the configuration of the wheels from flanked-flanked-blind to flanked-blind-flanked. Anyways I love the result of the overhaul. There is always a 7th version! http://DB BR E94 Hildesheimer Steinewelten 2023 by Simon Jakobi, auf Flickr Quote
Man with a hat Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Great work and nice to see it in its "natural" environment. Quote
Nikonissen Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Simply love this model! Which train wagons would this locomotive typically be seen pulling? Quote
Dr Snotson Posted March 18, 2023 Author Posted March 18, 2023 THX!!! Heavy haul operations. Furthermore these lcocs pushed all kinds of trains upwards some steep ramps like "Geislinger Steige" or "Spessart Rampe" Quote
ivanlan9 Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 Really nice work. If instructions were to become available, I'd leap at them. Just sayin'. BTW, I have three versions of the original 9v 4551; I've bought six of them all together. One version is green, with a number of modifications. Nothing close to this, though, as mine are all 6-wide.
