July 22, 200816 yr A bank? Never going to happen. Why not? 1490 was good, and quite original with those "slant" doors. 6566 wasn't that good, but that's no surprise since it came out in 1997, the first of a few dark (<insert that tiresome argument>) years in Lego city.
July 23, 200816 yr I was thinking of something like this - nicely Impulse sized. I hope you're right about civilian buildings. The only banks we've seen in recent years are in licensed sets (Spiderman, Gringotts). Duplo still has the best themes - farms, malls, zoos, circuses! Yea thats what i thought of when you said impusle ice cream cart
July 23, 200816 yr I have no idea what Lego is planning for 2009, but I really hope they plan to continue the large scale sets in the Market Street vein. I love these sets and the garage/autoshop idea posted earlier would be an excellent addition to my street. The other idea I had was for an old style theater for plays and movies. The ones with the marquee that sticks at an angle out over the sidewalk and has the ticket booth in the center would be awesome. I have a really old bicycle shop set that I've always liked and I think lego could release something similar. Maybe have a motorcycle shop with the display window and spinning cycle on a stand. The bank idea is one I really hope they come out with also. I know Lego stays away from political sets, but a large courthouse or city hall would be neat as well.

I wouldnt mind a Garage/Autoshop if i wasnt geting Town Plan [The one with town plan kicks megablocks! cant wait to pay it off!] I realy hope they do cars packs + civilian cars The only civilian cars we've gotten recently were- From Service Station & Cargo Train [Thats the only ones i can think of] I think they will continue with the GG,CC & MS style sets
July 23, 200816 yr On one resource which i would better not mention i`ve catched something interesting - In January 2009 there will be restyled (or extended) Construction sets. Actually, there will be a renewed 7905 Crane and some popular ideas of old times. This is absolutely true info because this is not the first time when this resource`s announcements were up to date with real things later. Edited July 23, 200816 yr by BatonMedved
July 23, 200816 yr I'm expecting a rework of the Hospital theme. We've seen Fire, Police redone, and Coastguard, so it's logical they'd go back to the medical sets. I anticipate a new Hospital, an ambulance, and maybe a doctors car. Construction sets may also be revisited as it's also been a while. I also am waiting for the next modular building set. Jamie Berard said in an interview that he had already finished designing it, so we pretty much know it's coming. Also the new power function trains. LEGO said we'd see an AFOL focussed set as the first in the range. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for more civilian stuff such as houses, banks, shops, etc, but I think it's more likely we'll see them (If at all) in 2010 due to LEGO asking for ideas. July 23, 200816 yr The most thing i`m interested in is what really fresh theme will come out... Renewed and restyled is good, but what about new one, like Coast Guard or Cargo this year (btw they also classic subthemes like police etc, but forgotten for long). Maybe...i dont even know. Any ideas?

July 23, 200816 yr Me too, big mall is right i need for my suburbs.By the way, somewhere on forums i`ve seen somebody mentioned a Coast Guard Hover Craft... i think that this idea is more suitable for orange savers than red fighters... All in all, what do you think about it? A mall would be absolutely but only if it is non-CC styled. But for next year there is (if TLG releases something like this at all) no chance since we'll already get a new - hopefully this time more comprehensive - train theme. Yes, I read this information of a CG hovercraft, too (it was on this forum but I regrettably don't know where and who posted it - but it was in any event unofficial and only a "it-might-perhaps-be"). I really would like a CG hovercraft if it will be much smaller than the fire hovercraft (a size of vehicle which is able to transport until six minifigures would be ) and if it will come with some kind of surveillance station - that would be ! Also the new power function trains. LEGO said we'd see an AFOL focussed set as the first in the range. I didn't know that we'll shall see the exclusive train set first and firstly after that the regular train sets. Like already mentioned: A Transibiric Train or an Eastern- and Oriential Express would be ! Klaus-Dieter Edited July 23, 200816 yr by Klaus-Dieter
August 5, 200816 yr After seeing the power plant instructions, i even more wish for civil themed sets in 2009, and i certainly hope we get some. It's all there, TLG just has to make them.

August 6, 200816 yr A Bank. We need a bank. The last one was good for parts and had a good torso, but we need a better sized one. They may end up making one for Batman though.
August 7, 200816 yr A TV station. What we need is a TV station. Where else would the Lego citizens get their news from?
