Snake Slime Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 It looks like there's a new sitting variant of cat. Wonder if it's a new mold or if it's just achieved with bricks. 32 minutes ago, BrickBob Studpants said: The Axolotl House includes the last missing axolotl color! Pink, gold, blue, and cyan. Oh, forgot there was a fifth colour! My highlights are the crystal knight, the recoloured animals (cat, frog, axolotl, sheep), the fact we’re FINALLY getting another witch, and that super adorable bucket-o-axolotl Love the giant Iron Golem build, and the alternative cat build for the Crafting Box is neat Another very good wave! Lemerbrix Posted July 9, 2023 Author Posted July 9, 2023 Because this thread doesn’t receive much attention, I thought I’d list everything new in the summer sets 21247: new axolotl color (Aqua), tropical fish, and a bucket of axolotl. 21248: mangrove chest boat, warm frog, froglight, frogspawn, and pumpkin pie! 21249: birch door, new sitting cat, and a new cat breed (tabby) 21250: copper (I think?) and lightning rods Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 We have the 2024 1HY list, thanks to @Lego_Minecraft_Goat: 21251: Steve’s Desert Expedition 21252: The Armory 21253: The Animal Santuary 21254: The Turtle Beach House 21255: The Nether Portal Ambush 21256: The Frog House 21257: Showdown against the Devourer (Minecraft Legends) Sounds exciting! More mob houses are always welcome and it’s nice to see another Nether portal set. Fingers crossed for some camels! Quote

Alright, sounds interesting steve’s desert expedition: I’m expecting to see some 1.20 stuff in this set, or at least a camel. the armory: this set is definitely going to include an armor trim, I’m betting on my mountain cave that it does the animal sanctuary: this could potentially have a sniffer, this is the only logical set, and we usually get the mob vote winner in the January wave. the turtle beach house: probably just going to be another giant mob statue. the nether portal ambush: is @Lego_Minecraft_Goat sure this isn’t a Minecraft legends set, sounds like one to me, but if it’s not, I hope we get a zombified piglin, and a ghast. the frog house: probably going to get the green frog variant in this set, also maybe a tadpole. Showdown against the devouer: I was wondering when we would get Minecraft legends sets! This however will be a skip for me, I still need to get the winter sets from this year! Quote
Snake Slime Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 The Legends creature designs aren't my favorite, I doubt I'll have much interest in that subtheme but maybe Lego will surprise me and they'll look better than the ingame models. I yearn for more Dungeons sets. Animal sanctuary is the best bet for cherry trees. Turtle beach might have a bamboo raft. I don't have any other good guesses. Quote

A camel would be fantastic! New animal mobs are always a personal favourite of mine Same goes for the sniffer! Completely forgot that we could see a LEGO version as early as next January. The green frog is absolutely necessary to include in the set to complete the frog collection but I‘m not sure how they‘d depict a tadpole. That would have to be by far the smallest mob they‘ve ever done Quote

That would have to be by far the smallest mob they‘ve ever done Well, to be fair, the axolotl house has a (albeit poorly designed) tropical fish, so there have been similar sized mobs in the past. Steve’s desert expedition is only $11 here in the u.s, so I’m now doubting we’ll get a camel in such a small set. Quote

Ok, fair point. Forgot about that attempt at a fish If we get something on that level though, it‘d just be a 1x1 round tile with bar with a 1x1 round tile on top Quote

MaxHeadroom Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 I’ve been getting back into LEGO Minecraft recently after only watching from afar since around 2015. It hasn’t extended beyond buying anything other than the Swamp Adventure and a ton of 2x2 tiles for MOCs but I’m definitely interested to see what happens with this line. Not too interested in most of the new additions to the game in recent years but I love the Sniffer and was hoping to see one here but there’s no obvious place for one. 21251: Steve’s Desert Expedition - I can definitely see this being Steve, a hostile mob, a camel possibly reusing the llama head (it would be as accurate as the fox), a small amount of desert terrain with a cactus, and maybe a decorated pot. 21252: The Armory - One or two printed armor trim sets on armor stands and some kind of rough build of a wall. Armorer villager, player, and probably a hostile mob? Can’t really see getting too much more for only $20. 21253: The Animal Santuary - Name is too vague to really get much. I doubt it would feature a Sniffer since I think doing Sniffer stuff could take up a $20 set on its own and if it was Sniffer focused it would be in the set’s name. When it comes to the classic overworld mobs the pig is the only one we got in 2023 so I could see them making a general mob set with a cow, pig, chicken, and a new color of sheep to entice collectors. Just hoping whatever mobs get included are the adult versions and not the baby versions Lego often cheapens out with. 21254: The Turtle Beach House - Doesn’t seem expensive enough to be a full turtle house, so probably just the head? 21255: The Nether Portal Ambush - I’ve seen this set under the name “Expedition of the Nether Portal” so not sure what’s up there. Sounds less generic than ambush though and could imply that maybe blocks need to be cleared to access it. I’ve been tempted by the current portal set (I’ve never owned any Nether set) but maybe I’ll wait and see what this is like since it’ll probably be similar just hopefully a bit larger to go with the increased price. 21256: The Frog House - Pretty self explanatory. Not surprised it exists. Quote
Lego_Minecraft_Goat Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 I think the frog house will have the cold (green) frog. Quote

Definitely not green because that would be too close to the turtle house. If it’s orange hopefully it’ll be dark orange like the actual piece is. Quote

That'd be my choice too, visually. 1 hour ago, MaxHeadroom said: Definitely not green because that would be too close to the turtle house. Good point! And the green one is nowhere near as prominent in the marketing as the other two, especially the orange one, which seems to be the "main" variant Quote

Lemerbrix Posted November 1, 2023 Author Posted November 1, 2023 Well, we got images! They’re on the kids section of Lego.com The armory: first, I am beyond shocked that we didn’t get a single armor trim! There’s also a new face print for Alex, I’m very confused why this is necessary. Build is terrible though, but trust me, the Minecraft armour market is about to crash, as an enchanted helmet and chestplate appear, as well as a golden helmet! the animal sanctuary: this one is alright, I’m not liking the inaccurate cherry blossom tree, when Lego literally predicted cherry blossoms in the training grounds! You do get a lot of mobs in this set, so that’s nice. Build could be better though. Quote
Snake Slime Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 (edited) Sanctuary also includes one of the new default skins. It's a shame they chose a terrible shade of purple for the hair color, I would have liked that figure. Hoping these two sets aren't an indicator for the quality of the rest of the wave. Edit 1: Oh hey, you can see an image of the turtle house in the last picture of the Animal Sanctuary page! It's about what you'd expect. Only interesting details I can glean are a bamboo raft and baby turtles. Looks like the babies are tiles on green rollerskates, that's pretty clever. Edit 2: I should have known to check the other set images to see the fourth set. Looks like they redesigned the hoglin, I think I prefer the old one. Sure, the color was a little off, but the tusk design was better. These tusks look too fat. Edited November 1, 2023 by Snake Slime Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 (edited) Finally a properly-coloured hoglin!! Someone will be very happy to see this (@Ashnflash) Edited November 1, 2023 by BrickBob Studpants Quote
MaxHeadroom Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 The Armory - No trims? Surely that’s the whole reason this set should exist? I’m a bit disappointed to not see an armorer villager too. The 2x2 glazed terracotta tiles look nice (have we gotten those particular ones before?) as does the grindstone. The new Alex print is awful though. I get what they’re going for, and maybe kids will like it but it’s a terrible use of budget and looks ridiculous. The build itself is fine, but I don’t really get the point of including a nether portal. Overall this is a real disappointment of a set. Animal Sanctuary - the build is whatever but colorful enough I’m sure kids will like it. The tree is bad but I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt as maybe the design wasn’t finalized when the game was (I don’t remember how long ago we first saw those trees with how long it takes for things to get added to the game). This set was always going to live or die based on the animals and going for all baby animals is a real shame. It would’ve cost them pennies more to do. Turtle Beach House - Its a big green square and does what it’s meant to do. Baby turtles is a nice surprise but it definitely won’t be enough for me to buy the set. Nether Portal Ambush - Only set I’m actually into. Hoglin is nice and I haven’t got a ghast yet. Definitely inferior to both the sets it’s replacing (Nether Bastion and Nether Portal) but it’s a solid little nether set good for people who have only got one or two. Quote

The trees have looked the same since they were first revealed to the public. And past set releases would indicate they don't normally start making stuff before the updates are complete. Quote

I knew they’ve looked like that since their public reveal but if that was 6 months ago or 3 years ago I couldn’t tell you. Only explanation I can come up with is that they wanted to include a birch tree for symmetry with the build but also wanted a cherry tree to be relevant to recent updates. Quote
