Frog house looks like good set but I wish I looked more like the frog. The open face isn't what I was expecting. I'd have rathered a full giant frog build with a house interior, but I still like the set anyway.

Edit: I also quite like the look of the camel set, Steve gets a crazy new expression face like Alex did in the armoury. It looks a little odd but with all the Steve repeats I can appreciate the variety.

There's also a legends set, some kinda of giant piglin? I don't know what to think of it, but then again I don't know much about legends. Ironically looks to have a tuff golem , funny if we get him before the sniffler. Also what's happened to the skeleton's mouth

That's not a tuff golem, that's the cobble golem from legends. That skeleton is also a villager skeleton (hence the nose) from legends.

I must say the first few reveals had be worried but I like the rest of the wave. I'll be picking up several of these.

Disappointing the desert set has no sign of archeology, but it's good otherwise. Should be easy enough to modify the baby camel into an adult. The new campfire is a better attempt than their previous, which was just a regular fire piece on a brown plate. The wacky face expressions for Alex and Steve are kinda stupid though.

I just noticed they've made new head molds for the legends minifigures to replicate the weird rounded edge on the top of their heads. That's disappointing, it makes them look worse and means they don't integrate with regular Minecraft sets.

Love that the frog house includes all three types of frog! Shame it comes with yet another drowned tho :shrug_oh_well: The baby camel is an awesome addition, as is the Legends set on the whole! Not sure yet what to make of the wacky facial expressions tho. Better than the 1000th reprint, I guess

The Camel and (downgraded) phantom are nice to get, can’t say I personally strongly desire either of them though. That Steve is awful as expected and the build doesn’t really contain very useful parts (part of my criteria when buying a Minecraft set) but it looks fine.

Frog house is basically what I expected. Not for me, but cool for people who want all the frog colors. I don’t see why including a drowned is a bad thing. I would’ve rather seen a witch than a drowned and zombie but the drowned makes sense and I don’t feel like we see them in sets that often. They’re uncommon in Java but very common in bedrock (although it’s possible they’ve changed that) which I assume is what most kids play and what Lego are trying to represent.

That 18+ ender dragon plus ship rumor seems like a bit of a mess along with the rumor of an additional ship set. Are we sure there isn’t any confusion going on and the ship is one set and the 18+ dragon is another? I totally get an 18+ dragon and maybe it would be in the style of the Harry Potter flying birds/dragons we’ve gotten from that theme in recent years. Don’t know why an end ship would be included there though, as the dragon is nowhere near the end cities in game.

That is one issue, the other being the existence of an 18+ Minecraft set in the first place  Why would an Ender dragon set, even as a display model à la Hedwig/Fawkes/Hungarian Horntail, be 18+ when none of those were? Unless it’s just the head in a style similar to the SW helmets, but even then it’s much more simple than them in its design.

Honestly, I can’t think of a single set idea that absolutely requires that 18+ stamp :snicker: Minecraft being as blocky as it is, even larger sets can easily still be 12+!

Giant crafting table, similar to 71395? That could be an 18+ set?

I could imagine a build could become a bit more complex if it would be fully tiled which I think is a possibility.

Mainly though, it’s just a marketing thing. The Harry Potter line has been dumbed down and made more kiddie in recent years (alongside other franchise reputation changes) but when the flying creatures started it was a franchise and Lego line with a lot of adult appeal second probably only to Star Wars. Minecraft meanwhile has generally been seen as a kids game for the last 10+ years and no offense to any of us here but the Lego line especially has been seen as entirely for children with minimal adult appeal since it switched to the minifigure line. Its only ever had two D2Cs, the 2016 one was 8+ and the 2017 one was 12+. A flying ender dragon display is  targeting a nostalgic adult demographic which has never been a part of Lego Minecraft’s audience so it needs to be specifically marketed to appeal to them. Meanwhile the core HP line at the time was seemingly half for kids and half for nostalgic adults so it made sense to have a set aimed primarily at adults still marketed as usual.

A better marketing/age rating comparison would be the Mario line. Not a set I’ve built but I doubt any 16 year old (do they still do 16+ sets?) or even any 12+ year old would struggle with the recent piranha plant set. But because they want it placed next to the other 18+ sets for adults to look at and because the Mario line is so kid focused it got the 18+ branding.

Anyone else annoyed at most of the sets being animal houses ? , why can't they just make normal looking houses, caves and structures.

I don't really care- a big part of minecraft is building whatever you want, and if I did buy these, my main thing would just be the generated structures and terrain being done right- but yeah, nobody I've ever played with as an adult builds this stuff, and when I was a kid we'd all build "normal" houses. My guess is the animal house sets do well, so lego keeps pumping them out because they're more exciting to the <10 year old demographic than normal homes.

On the contrary, those are my favourite Minecraft sets! I just like the way they look and how they also double as buildable figures of sorts :sweet: Granted, they’re more like statues, but you get the point.

I wouldn‘t be surprised at all if they sold really well, as @Mandalorianknight points out.

Got a bunch of this year's (and a couple of last year's) sets for Christmas- loving the Axolotal house! Got two other smaller underwater sets too, hoping to make a whole diorama. Can't wait to build the Deep Dark Battle- as much as I hate the Warden in-game (and I mean HATE), I love the Ancient Cities and I think the set interpretation is quite cute!

Is it just me, or have they changed the design philosophy in this theme? They used to design all the sets with connectors in the ground so you could put them all together, but it looks like newer sets don't have those anymore?

I agree, upon putting together my new sets I noticed that. I'm going to modify them all anyways to have connections, but I quite miss it. Gave the theme a nice feel.

We have the full list, courtesy of @Brick Clicker:

  • 21259 Pirate Ship ($14.99)
  • 21260 Blossom Garden ($19.99)
  • 21261 Wolf Outpost ($39.99)
  • 21263 Badlands Exploration ($59.99)
  • 21266 The Windmill Adventure ($69.99)
  • 21264 Ender Dragon vs End Ship ($89.99)
  • 21265 18+ set ($89.99)

So the previous rumours were true, but I don't think anybody expected the pirate ship to be a $15 set :laugh_hard:

The highlight has to be the End Ship, about flipping time if you ask me!! We need more shulkers. And the 18+ set is intriguing. Has to be a statue of sorts

Windmill Adventure sounds interesting, that could be a really awesome terrain piece! Wondering what that pirate ship is though, $15 is quite small.

Pirate ship - I doubt this is gonna offer any surprises. I expect a smaller version of the previous ship. Maybe there'll be a new parrot color, it's surprising that there's only been one released in all this time.

Blossom Garden - If it doesn't have the sniffer, I'll eat my shoe.

Wolf Outpost - Wolf shaped house? I dunno.

Badlands Exploration - Since this wave is likely to include the new camel piece, this set seems like the best possibility. I'd say that it might include some trail ruins, but badlands are among the biomes which don't have the structure.

Windmill Adventure - Could potentially include a field of tulips? Don't have many guesses beyond that.

Ender Dragon vs End Ship - Self explanatory.

So basically a Minecraft version of the ?-block set  I really like the idea! Also sounds like a reimagining of the microscale sets that started the theme

One of the mystery figs has to be a player figure, and the other is probably a player as well. The fact they weren't identified means they're probably not something easily recognizable, which would rule out most things other than custom skins.
