Like we got 9 figures in the ministry of magic 10+1 in the chamber of secrets. Etc. So if they can do it for "regular" HP sets I can't see why they can't do it for Disney's 100th anniversary. Especially if the build will be decently sized. If it will happen is another question, but it definitely could.

Possibly the prince as well although I don't think he'll get a minifigure sadly. Another option is that since she has both a pink and blue dress, we get one color dress in a set and the other color dress in the CMF series. But I think her being Briar Rose with the owl in the CMF series makes more sense. I would like to get both color dresses though. That being said, I also don't think a Sleeping Beauty set is necessarily a given although I would love a Maleficent dragon set. That wouldn't feature Aurora anyway unless it included a castle or tower with her sleeping in it. Even if we get a Sleeping Beauty Castle set based on the parks, there's no guarantee it will feature Aurora or any Sleeping Beauty characters just like how the Cinderella Castle set didn't feature Cinderella. The Hong Kong and Shanghai castles are pretty obscure and not recognizable. The Cinderella Castle from Orlando is completely duplicated in Tokyo but the Paris Sleeping Beauty castle has a completely different design from the Anaheim Sleeping Beauty castle. Personally, I prefer the Paris design and would rather see that but it'll definitely be the iconic Anaheim castle instead. Assuming we do get another castle set from the parks (and I hope we do), it'll definitely be the Anaheim version. I'm also interested if a new castle set might be one of the castles from the movies instead of the parks like how the last D2C Disney set was the Ice Castle from Frozen. It could be any one of these castles/palaces then including Cinderella's palace from the movie which has a completely different look than the Orlando Cinderella Castle. I feel that this would not be the smartest decision on TLG's part to do a castle straight from one of the princess movies. The Disneyland Castle is one of the most iconic. So, feel that none of these castles are as iconic or would sell well as the Disneyland one. I am a bit bummed I missed out on getting the Disney Castle from last year though, so I'm holding out hope this one will be good. What would you guys say is more iconic, the one from Disney World or Disneyland.
Surge Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 I wonder how much longer until we see that peter pan set. If the rumor is true and it comes out in march, afaik all of the other march sets have been revealed with the star wars ones just today (or yesterday? dont remember time is such a blur lately lol) so it could be any day now! I anticipate before the end of the month.

I am a casual Disney fan and would think that besides the logo the castles in the movies would be known to more people compared to a theme park castle in the US. I would think the spread and accessibility of the movies is much greater. That said I would not be the target market for that castle as I would only buy Disney sets associated with particular properties I like rather than just general Disney sets. The set would likely target a more committed Disney fan and they would likely know more on castles. Is there a castle at the Disney park in Europe which might be in the running for a non-US audience?
Brickity Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 Tinker Bell is the only character I’m currently missing from my disney minifig collection, and I wonder how different her new variant will be (if there will be any). Her variant in the disney castle set was incredibly accurate.

As you say if there’s a Snow White set ( and it’s a big if ) I imagine it would most certainly feature the old hag, which if a collector wanted to only display the minifigures, the Queen from the CMF would fit in perfectly. @JeanGreyForever I like the idea of yours regarding Aurora, blue dress in a set and pink dress in the CMF .. very nice 👍🏼 and not entirely lego connected, but it made me smile to see that image you posted with the correct colour for Cinderella’s dress 😁 I just hope that whenever we get a Cinderella minifigure, it actually resembles how she looks in the movie with burnt orange/titian hair and a silver dress. The hairpiece Daphne from Scooby Doo has actually bears a very strong resemblance to what Cinderella's hair should look like since it's shoulder-length, the correct orange color, and even has the poofy bangs in the front. 10 hours ago, PGBQW said: Like I know that this makes sense, but getting +8 minifigures seems so bizarre to me There's also the possibility that they might nix the dwarfs, especially since I haven't seen the dwarfs pop up in any of the 100 years anniversary merchandise that Disney is making so far. In which case the Snow White cottage might just feature Snow White and the witch. If there's no cottage because it's too directly correlated to the dwarfs, a likely Snow White set might feature the wishing well with Snow White and the prince. 1 hour ago, timemail said: The only real iconic castle I know of would be the one in the logo (I don't know if that is one from a theme park). The castle from the logo is more or less the Cinderella Castle from the Florida park which we already have a set of. So everytime someone watches a current Disney movie, they see the logo with the Florida park castle. And the castle in Tokyo is identical to the Cinderella Castle in Florida Personally, as someone who's always been a bigger fan of the movies than the theme parks, I can't see why the movie castles wouldn't be iconic. There are many people who don't or can't visit the theme parks whereas it's much easier to actually watch the movies from anywhere on the globe. If they made a castle for Frozen, I can't see why the other castles from the classic Disney movies wouldn't work either, especially since each of them has gotten a Lego set in the minidoll style for the princess series, minus Snow White's castle. @Karalora posted a pic of the Sleeping Beauty castle in Paris on the previous page. It's my personal favorite of the theme park castles and also the one with the most unique design, but I'm not sure how iconic it is outside of Europe especially since the Paris theme park is considered a financial flop.

Because most of them don't get big establishing shots that show off the whole structure so the shape of it can be imprinted on everyone's memory. Aladdin and Frozen are exceptions, helped by the fact that the castles in question have very unusual designs that stand out. But I would wager that very few people can summon up an accurate picture in their heads of the castles in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, or The Little Mermaid, or even Beauty and the Beast, where the structure of the castle is more of a "character" than usual. Even Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty themselves--the films for which the theme park castles were named, do not themselves contain especially memorable-looking castles. On the other hand, the theme park castles are major advertising images for the company--the film studio's logo is based on Disneyland's castle! That means, among other things, that everyone who has the opportunity to see what one of the movie castles looks like, also gets at least a silhouette of Sleeping Beauty Castle to pore over during the vanity plate. Maybe not everyone can visit a Disney theme park, but everyone who does gets to eyeball its castle for several minutes, first thing when they arrive. Googling "Disney castle" will get you pages of photos from theme parks long before you arrive at a movie screencap. The theme park castles are orders of magnitude more familiar, even to people who have never visited, than the vast majority of the castles in the Princess movies.
dukesofbrickdom Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 From a SoCal bias, I would have to say that I would prefer the Disneyland Castle to anything else due to nostalgia purposes. It may not be as large as the original set, but I would definitely see where LEGO is coming from doing the Disneyland one. Especially since it is a celebration of Disney's 100th Anniversary, so it would make sense to do the original castle Walt and all his team of Imagineers worked on. I would argue Walt cared more about the parks than the movies. If you watch the Imagineering Story on Disney+, it gives a really cool insight into just how much it mattered to Walt. The opening of Disneyland and ensuing success is what kept the struggling Disney company at the time afloat. The countless models of parks he put together, which were an outlet of his model train collecting days. He was essentially dreaming up a better world in creating Disneyland. He wanted a place where people could just escape from life.
hikouki Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 The official 100th anniversary day is October 16: https://disneydiary.com/2022/12/major-disney-anniversaries-to-commemorate-in-2023/ I wonder if we will see the largest tranche or the most special items closer to that day than earlier in the year?
bRICKbRAT Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 I could see us getting a small Microscale Castle/Palace similar to Mini Disney Castle.

The countless models of parks he put together, which were an outlet of his model train collecting days. He was essentially dreaming up a better world in creating Disneyland. He wanted a place where people could just escape from life. No doubt he cared more about Disneyland--once it had opened--than the movies. He'd been making cartoon shorts and later animated films for over 30 years by the time Disneyland opened and he was eager to move on to something new, something no one else was doing. We often lament that Walt Disney died in 1966, just as Disneyland was really getting good, and wish we could have seen what he would have done with it for another decade or two, but ironically, he was already starting to move on to the next big project (the original EPCOT concept--the Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow) at that point. I think it's quite possible that he would have lost interest in Disneyland and passed its management on to his Imagineering team, with minimal personal involvement, within a few years even if he'd lived longer. On another note, it is both weird and a little sad to me that most people seem to think "Disney" begins and ends with movies and cartoons, and that the theme parks only exist as spinoffs of the film content. Because when I was a young kid in the early to mid-80s, Disney's animation and live-action film divisions were in a serious slump and the theme parks were the best things the company had going on, and were still packed with all kinds of cool rides and attractions that had nothing to do with any existing movies. I'm talking stuff like Adventure Thru Inner Space, the Submarine Voyage, America Sings...rides that existed for their own sake, not to promote movies. Nowadays I hear people asking "what's the point" of anything that doesn't have a movie attached and it hurts my heart.

JeanGreyForever Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 I recently took a survey which showed me four of the upcoming Disney sets that I presume will be released later this year. None of them are ones that have been directly confirmed so far like the Peter and Wendy set or the Birthday Disney train. I am not allowed to post pictures unfortunately but I can discuss the sets here. Donald Duck - this is a full-scale brick-built Donald in the vein of the Mickey and Minnie that were released before. He stands on a very similar base as Mickey and Minnie did with his name autographed on the base. It's a very good likeness of Donald but based on the one image of him I've seen, he doesn't seem to fit the scale of the Mickey and Minnie. This Donald seems a lot shorter and squatter to my eyes but maybe I'm wrong and he fits perfectly in scale with them. The description of the set says that it features 1000 pieces, will range from $80-$130 in price, and has a height of 12 inches/30 cm. I checked the previously released Mickey and Minnie and they're 15 inches/36 cm so that extra height might be because of their ears. Donald's legs are a lot shorter than Mickey and Minnie's though. Simba - this is another full-scale brick built set but one featuring child Simba from The Lion King. Like Donald, he's described as 12 inches/30 cm high and he has the same price range of $80-$130 but he has 1353 pieces. I think he looks a lot more technically impressive than the Donald and even though I'm not a fan of the brick-built character sets myself, I wouldn't mind getting this especially for the price. He looks pretty much identical to this image of Simba here that Disney uses in a lot of merchandise except the hair on his tail is a much darker brown. So just imagine the below image but made out of Lego bricks and you've seen the set. Snow White Cottage - this is the set that most of us have been waiting for. I guess the reason the Lego Ideas version was ultimately rejected is because they planned on making their own version all along. It has a similar look to the cottage set from the Lego Ideas version, but the roof is a very different color. It's not bright yellow but a rust orange/burnt orange. I personally think it's too dark of a shade so I hope that gets changed because unlike the Donald and Simba sets, which looked pretty finished, this one is clearly still a WIP. Another major difference from the Lego Ideas version is that in the Lego Ideas set, the part of the cottage featuring the door had a much lower roof than the rest of the cottage. That isn't the case here. There is a height difference but the entire right side of the cottage featuring the door has a roof only a bit lower than the other side which seems to be more movie accurate anyway. The most interesting part is that there's a wishing well included as well on a separate green base than the cottage. Both the cottage and the wishing well include white bark trees with stripes on them. I've never seen these trees before in a Lego set so to my knowledge they're new pieces and they look really good, especially because they're quite curvy and twist around. The set is described as 2500 pieces and ranges from $200-325. There is no list or count of minifigures but the picture showed me that Snow White and all seven Dwarfs were included. The dwarfs are a further indication that the set is unfinished because their designs are clearly preliminary. Dopey is the only one I recognized because of the lack of beard and he's the only one with the purple hat but he definitely doesn't have his green outfit. The rest of the dwarfs were even more unrecognizable with a random assortment of color torsos and hats. Several of them come with accessories like pick-axes and hammers although there are no mine carts included. The faces also seem very generic right now. Snow White looked more finished in comparison. She has a pale yellow slope piece as a skirt. Her torso is blue and actually has some of the skirt printed on but only on the front so the sides don't feature the skirt. Her overall color scheme is pretty similar to her look on the Brick Headz. I actually used a space in the survey to comment on the fact that Snow White in the movie has a navy blue torso, not a medium blue torso, and how they should change her color scheme to look more movie accurate. There was no cape depicted either so I mentioned that as well as something they can add. There's also a forest animal included although I can't even tell which animal it is. The wishing well includes a dove. The image I saw only depicted the exterior of the cottage so I have absolutely no idea what the back/interior looks like. Overall, just going by the exterior and minifigures, I am very impressed but I do hope that they change some things up to make it all more movie accurate, namely the minifigures. There was also no sign of the Witch or the Prince. Sleeping Beauty Dragon - the last set I saw was one that was also heavily speculated here by many, including myself. It's a diorama of Prince Phillip on horseback fighting Maleficent in dragon form. The set is 1250 pieces and has a price range of $80-$130. It features two minifigures, Prince Phillip and Maleficent. Phillip comes with a generic white horse and his sword and shield. This set also seems to still be in a preliminary design because Phillip is using Shaggy's hair and his shield has no printing like the movie. Samson, the horse in the movie, has a very light gray coloring that almost looks white along with a black mane, whereas this is just a generic white horse and the mane color is white as well so I hope that will change. Maleficent appears to be the same minfigure as before but I presume this time around she will have a cape and collar from the spongy material. She does come with her scepter. Maleficent the dragon is described as articulated and removable from the diorama. The base of the diorama is like in the Star Wars diorama sets, in the sense that it is black and features some text on the front although it's too small for me to read. On the base is the bridge leading to the castle from the movie and it tilts up. Right now there are green and brown foliage pieces to represent thorns but I wonder if those will change later on to black like in the movie. I like the design of the dragon Maleficent but although she towers over a lone minifigure, I wonder if she couldn't have been a bit bigger. She's got green fire as an effect coming out from her mouth connected to a clear stand. Her wings seem to be made out of a cloth material but the print on them is quite messy and not polished enough so it's safe to say this set is still being worked on.
karrit Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Thanks for the info. I have no interest in either brick build figure. I think I'm definitely going to want the Snow White Cottage and Sleeping Beauty Dragon. I hope there isn't too much else coming I'll be interested in because I know I'll be wanting most of the Harry Potter sets and the Indy sets.
hikouki Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Hopefully these rumors are true and not just a survey. I would be interested in the two dioramas and not the brick builds.

Nobody else has confirmed, denied or even acknowledged this, so we are pretty much in limbo unless someone reputable speaks up.

doclord Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 While the buildable figures are meh, Snow White is obvious (doubly so with the Queen in the CMF) and a Maleficent set would make sense with the lack of Phillip in the CMF (and, maybe purposefully, to go with Sorcerer Mickey for Fantasmic). Regardless if they are true I can see the bottom two happening regardless.
