Lol Maybe they have some spies around here? Lol

As much as it is 'nice' to hear about these leaks, sometimes it worries me too that third party (fake Lego bricks companies) will copy these ideas before Lego can release them, and in the end scare Lego from producing their original idea.

Huh, that's actually a really good point. Some of those sets won't release for at least a year (like Barad-dûr, or the Burrow), which gives them quite some time.

I know they don't want bootlegs to get the jump on them but considering that bootlegs aren't mainstream enough for lego's target audience and most Afols are purists. ( And even those that tend to know the difference between buying from other legimate Lego clones or 3rd party parts maker than buying bootlegs) it must only be a drop in the lake. Maybe more than a drop in the ocean but you know only a drop in the lake.

In that case we might actually see the bootleg release before the actual sets, yikes. Has that ever happened before?
RichardGoring Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 r/lego on Reddit has 989k subscribers. r/lepin on Reddit has 47k subscibers. And it's likely that people who buy Lepin are TFOL/AFOL for the most part. And even then, some will only buy the Lepin original ideas, not the ones stolen from LEGO. Perhaps very casual buyers who don't know the difference, but you can't get LEGO set clones on the major online stores, so that might be hard. Which suggests that Lepin buyers are a very small proportion of TFOL/AFOLs. Who are themselves a relatively small proportion of the LEGO buying market.
kill will Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Apologies if it's posted earlier in the thread but I wasn't able to find it by searching for "castle"- do we know an approximate release date for the new Disney castle? My girlfriend is currently obsessed with the original 71040 castle but resale prices for it are kinda steep. Hoping she'll be satisfied with the smaller new one or that its release would at least slightly bring the 71040 prices down. I was not aware that Lego was so popular among female Chinese influencers, I've had many MOC'd up Disney castles and Eiffel Towers shared with me in the past few days
sunhuntin Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Looks like the pictures are all gone, from all the themes. Wish I had saved the Simba now, but as usual I didnt think quickly enough.

Pretty big, I would guess. TLG have opened a ton of stores in China recently, and the themes geared towards the Chinese market (Lunar New Year and Monkie Kid) seem to be doing well
RichardGoring Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 That's true. And with so many more of LEGO's media partners pushing things in Chin, even more important for them all to protect what they are doing there.

BacktoBricks Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Still waiting to see the Peter Pan and Wendy storybook. Hope we will see some pictures any day now if it's meant to be a March 1st release. Assuming it will include Peter and Wendy minifigures which I'd love to get as I don't have CMF Peter and the film was one of my favourites growing up.

Definitely thought we’d see the spring wave by now (leaks or reveal).
chiefz Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 The story books are always microdolls. It’s the “kid” version of the minidoll. See the encanto story book for reference.
BrickBob Studpants Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 (edited) Despite realising I might set myself up for disappointment, I’m still convinced the leaked Disney sets are scheduled for release this year. I have three reasons to believe that: The 100th anniversary. Why would they release these amazing sets based on three significant movies in Disney’s history a year after the festivities? Unlike some other themes’ anniversaries, they seem to take this one seriously! The London Toy Fair reaction. I forgot who said that, but something tells me that reaction was not due to seeing a 4+ train, a minidoll castle (presumably), and a $70 model of Carl’s house. These leaked sets however would justify it Marcos Bessa is in charge of these, and there was a recent photo session for the lifestyle images. Put 1 and 1 together Sure, that’s not hard evidence. But I believe in it nonetheless Edited February 7, 2023 by BrickBob Studpants

Jarreth2 Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Bessa shared the news that Lego is releasing sets for Disney’s 100 years of wonder, he’s one of the designers involved, however he’s not the lead designer of all of them. Loving the way that the new Elrond and Gandalf can ‘sit down’ in the new Rivendell set, gives me a nice idea on how a Cinderella minifigure could sit in the carriage on the way to the ball 😁
