doclord Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 (edited) They likely want to see if the live action remakes can get merchandise collectors. It's worth a shot but it's unfortunate that the classic movie gets no system sets this year in return. Edited April 22, 2023 by doclord
Jarreth2 Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 More rumour over on Insta .. Disney Castle Minifigures supposedly around 12 .. may include Snow White and her Prince, Cinderella and Prince Charming, Aurora and Philip and Tiana and Naveen .. hopefully Aurora may be in her blue dress.
Surge Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 really hoping the last four are raps eugene belle and beast also rumors say around 12, so maybe they could be nice and add in merida to round out all the princesses (ig raya is missing, but honestly do not really care) also hope that all these figs (specifcially the ones that arent repeats) go for less than 20 bucks on bricklink, have no plans to buy the castle and would like to get all the new figs for under 150, ideally under 100
Sheesh417 Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 I will die on the mountain that it should've been a Disneyland castle.
Jdrewg Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 I'm trying to figure out white people are so upset about the remakes.

karrit Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 (edited) I'm blaming all these Disney 100 Little Mermaid sets being based on the live action version on Bob 2.0 (Cheapek). That person tried desperately to destroy almost 100 years of Disney history, legacy and business practices committed to excellent values & service all to make a name and buck for himself. He's the one who was in charge at the time these sets would have been being planned & approved. From what I've seen so far much of the 100 years celebration, not just Lego, seems to be focused on the past 10 years or so of mediocre Disney IP, recent Pixar & Marvel with Lucasfilm thrown in rather than the rest of the previous 100 years of classic Disney. This is not to say that they shouldn't be remaking anything or diversifying their portfolio more. But as others have said much of what they've been doing of late throughout the company is pure cash grab with little or no thought of nostalgia and history. Edited April 22, 2023 by karrit

On the one hand, it really breaks my heart that it isn't the Sleeping Beauty castle. Lego really lost an opportunity there. On the other hand, I could see why Disney may insist on having the set modeled out of their larger castle that also appears on their company logo. I can only hope there is much much substantial difference in the build of this new set.
Jdrewg Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 Do we know that a new castle is not yet to come? Fingers crossed!
Ondra Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 Cannot wait to buy that Ariel clamshell here before christmas for around 80 euro and next year in March for 70 euro at total clearance. Like it was with Bowser figure this year. Half of the price cut after year for big godzilla type lego figure. Nobody is interested in these sets here, and its good way to build something for adults for "cheap" .

But I know Goofy sells for around $85 and Tinker Bell I think was in the $100s so I would hate to have to pay all that much for the exclusive characters. Paying $400 for the overall set might be cheaper in the long run. Let's hope not.

In which case, will this be a limited edition run? Just a couple weeks ago, I just could not wait for this set to be released. But if true that this will be a remake of the just-retired castle, then I can't wait for it to be retired...so we may see a different castle released! LOL I believe they retired the Disney Train Station months ahead of the previous castle. I wonder if they had a replacement (park) attraction in mind to replace it. Aren't there two more unknown sets listed which are $100++ for later in the year?

Aren't there two more unknown sets listed which are $100++ for later in the year? Maybe because it's a D2C set so it'll presumably be on shelves long after the 100 Years celebration is over. If this new castle is meant to be the new flagship set as Promobricks said, it might not be branded as part of the 100 celebration either. My feelings exactly lol. With every bit of news we get, I feel myself losing more and more interest in this castle which seems to be more of a cynical cash grab. I think most people thought this would be an entirely new castle but this seems to be more akin to the Death Star situation. When the first Death Star was retired, they immediately brought it back with slightly updated minifigures, a few minor changes to the build, and a $100 markup. The train retired a year before the castle did. I have no idea if they intend to release a new version or not to replace it, even if it's not a train but a different park attraction. I don't think the train sold very well because the first year it was out, it was heavily marked down for Black Friday which might explain the lack of a remake. I think the other $100 sets might be the buildable Lumiere and Cogsworth.

Even if it’s the pink, blue and gold colour scheme … that’s pretty much the Disneyland / Sleeping Beauty classic colour scheme. I understand that Lego likes remakes, but … I don’t know. I just would have much preferred a Disneyland (LA or Paris or a blend) castle before another Disney World castle. And Disneyland seems a bit more fitting for the celebrations given it was the first theme park castle.
Brickity Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 (edited) Snow white’s witch, Gaston, new maleficent and evil genie just leaked along buildable items, mmmm. So I wonder if we’re not getting the cottage and dragon after all. the buildable books, apple, VHS and clock look good but couldn’t care less about them. Edited April 23, 2023 by Brickity

Legofan2001 Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 I am confused as to why that set includes only villains though 🤔
DisneyLego Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 (edited) Honestly, getting all the buildable sidekicks as one set and that villains set as a single set is a steal IMO. The villains set will not be for everyone but it’s a great display piece and will be an instant buy for me. The buildable figures I’m still unsure about, nothing there really pulling me in. All look good, but Meeko has me dying🤣🤣 I was hoping for something more along the lines of that Simba buildable figure that leaked with the survey Edited April 23, 2023 by DisneyLego

JeanGreyForever Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 (edited) Not interested in the buildable figures set but I love that it includes Meeko and Percy from Pocahontas. I'm confused about Percy's color though. He's white/light gray in the movie but he looks cream colored here. Apparently it's $45. The collectible VHS set only interests me for the minifigures. I think someone said it costs $130 which I'm reluctantly willing to pay for since the figures combined would cost way more. We knew Gaston was confirmed so it's nice to see him. I always wanted the Witch and genie Jafar so I'm glad they're included especially since this means we'll get another Aladdin character for the Agrabah palace microscale set. This new Maleficent figure looks a lot better. It's weird to see her without the cape but they seem to have decided her robes being printed on is more accurate and the colors are certainly more accurate (purple and pink, not just purple as before). Nice to see a more movie-accurate staff and a skirt piece instead of the slope piece. So for objects, we're getting a poisoned apple, matching Aladdin and Sleeping Beauty storybooks, a premium Beauty and the Beast storybook, a VHS tape for The Little Mermaid, and the clock from Peter Pan that the crocodile swallows. I saw the card on there but I couldn't tell what was printed on it. The Queen of Hearts makes perfect sense. My only regret is that Lady Tremaine (Cinderella's stepmother) couldn't be included as well. Also it's interested that for the witch, her hair is printed on her torso to make it seem like it's protruding from her hood rather than a new hood piece which would include her hair actually trailing down. I'm really not a fan of buildable objects at all, but the minifigures make this set a must have. I'm very curious to see more of the storybooks and if they have any special designs on the cover and I do admit to having some nostalgic fondness for the VHS tape. Hopefully the witch's inclusion here and Snow White's prince's inclusion in the castle set means the cottage set is still going to be made since I remember most people were hoping those two characters would be included. Maleficent's inclusion here even though she's also supposed to be in the dragon set still works since she's so popular that I can't imagine Lego would have excluded her from a villains set.
