Maybe the castle will have vignettes inside the 'rooms' with each respective princess/ tale. At least that is what I am hoping for. That way, they don't all have to be in a ball gown dancing with their princes

I thought about this too. The different characters do not need to be coordinated in their outfits just because they’re part of the same set, perhaps they will just share the same castle and have their own fairy tale inside it. I mean this isn’t the 2019 clock tower set from Harry Potter lol, or maybe it’s just me wishful thinking because it sounds like a more exciting idea.

Tiana can come in her waitress/1920 outfit along with a room dedicated to Tiana’s place? Aurora in the gray dress along with a green section that represents the forest where she meets the prince? Cinderella will obviously come in her gown but maybe another version of her in rags is included to depict another scene of the movie? Etc

Now that I think about it, the pairing of princes and princesses really sounds strictly like a fancy gathering :(

I think that is the main issue. If one princes is in a ballgown, they all have to be in ballgowns. Disney won't let Cinderella show up without her iconic look, especially as the face of the Disney Princess brand, and it would look awkward if Snow White is off in the corner with a mop and bucket cleaning up the place.

Although for practical purposes, I would love it. A rags Snow White in the castle means no duplicate when she shows up in her dress for the Cottage set (if it ever comes out)

The previous castle had references to:

- Beauty and the Beast (main hallway with rose and candelabra)

- Little Mermaid (supposedly kitchen area)

- Fantasia/ Sorcerer's Apprentice (mop room)

- Sleeping Beauty (spinning wheel)

- Cinderella (hidden slipper)

- Rapunzel (chest with hairbrush and lock of hair)

- Snow White (apple + mirror)

Given these, I wonder which ones they will re-do and which ones they will add/ remove.

I do wonder how they plan to recreate that crystal slipper/ shoes on the Cinderella minifig.

Well, that upcoming cottage might end up being based upon the live action instead of the classic, just like what they did for The Little Mermaid. (*~*)

Honestly, I’ve been assuming it would but guess it was never really stated to be the case. I just figured it’d be similar to the original castle set with small scenes/rooms for different movies/characters. One of which was an archery range *cough MERIDA cough*

That archery range would be better fitted for Robin Hood now lol.

Besides that, the castle also had a genie lamp and magic carpet to represent Aladdin.

I always felt it was annoying though that the original castle only had references to princess films, minus Fantasia, even if Brave was technically a Pixar film and also a bit of an outlier in that respect. And some of the references were pretty weak too. A random kitchen to represent The Little Mermaid was awful especially since we've seen kitchens in Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast as well. The lock of black hair used to represent Rapunzel wasn't even accurate to her hair color.

I would like to see other classic Disney films referenced like Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, Winnie the Pooh, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which are just as worthy even if they lack princesses. Similarly, the animal centric films like Dumbo, Bambi, Lady and the Tramp, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, and The Lion King deserve some attention as well even if I can understand why they wouldn't be easy fits for a castle. That's probably hurt Pocahontas as well since her movie is entirely set in a forest.

Forgot about Aladdin!!!

I do wonder if we will get some castle grounds to go with this castle, given that the piece count is considerably more than the previous one.

Also, if the princesses show up in their ball gowns, would all of them have those big skits like the queen of hearts? LOL

Posted (edited)

I think only Belle, Cinderella, and Tiana would have a chance at the big skirt piece as they are the only princesses with hoop skirts. Every other princess can get away with a regular dress piece or legs depending.

(I guess also Ariel in her Pink dress or Anna in her coronation dress, but up in the air if they would be showing up here)

I'm not sure if we'll get castle grounds or not but if we did, I'd love to see something themed to the Queen of Hearts' castle grounds in Wonderland with hedge mazes or white roses being painted red. Or more specifically from the WDW Castle, a fountain. It would be neat if the interior could contain the Cinderella mosaics from the real castle as well.

Cinderella and Belle have the poofy skirts. Ariel as well for her pink dinner gown or wedding gown. Aurora, Jasmine, Snow White, Rapunzel, and Merida never wear skirts that big.

Tbh the regular skirt piece doesn't work all that well for the princesses who wear dresses that don't go all the way to their shoes. Like Snow White's dress or Ariel's blue peasant dress. Or even Leia from Star Wars. It would be strange for me to see a minifigure of Snow White with a skirt length the exact same as Aurora's.

tell that to Wreck-it Ralph 2

Originally I wrote "like that scene from Wreck it Ralph 2", but then I thought the sitcom line was funnier.

In any case, I stand by my point, I don't think they need to justify any minifigure being there.

For me if we're also including Pixar, which we clearly are with the UP house and the WALL-E Brickheadz, then some Monsters INC would be appreciated. Like Lion King, Jungle Book etc from the classic animation I know this might be a bit harder to do with all the creatures. A Bug's Life was also a childhood favourite of mine, but I'm honestly not sure what set could really be made with that and understand that the source material really doesn't translate well into Lego form. Whilst it was never one I really watched, I feel like Ratatouille often pops up on Lego Ideas.

There's a Monsters, Inc. set currently pending approval on Lego Ideas so fingers crossed.

I think the Ratatouille set achieved 10,000 signatures on three separate occasions but it's been rejected each time which is a real pity. I wonder if the fact that it came out in the same batch as the approved Nightmare Before Christmas set and the rejected Lilo & Stitch set hurt its chances since I doubt two Disney IP sets would be approved simultaneously.

Sort of Lego related .. Disney dropped a new ‘Sneak Peek’ trailer for The Little Mermaid .. this trailer has more speaking in it and actually gave me chills .. it looks like it’s gonna be one of the much much better live actions. It’s making me want the Royal Clamshell 😳😁

The clips are still very short as it’s a trailer, but it gives you a little more to focus on than quick flashes of scenes.

What I especially love about the Disney 100 sets is how unpredictable they are. They could be based on anything from the animated catalogue, with most sets featuring characters from several properties at once! It‘s like getting multiple series worth of CMF minifigs in a single year

Glad they‘re finally tapping into that gold mine

I've never been a massive fan of the idea of all of the live action remakes because I'd rather see Disney visit new stories and worlds. That being said, I've been to see most of them at the cinema because I love the originals and most of them do at least the songs justice (and that's the most important part for me anyway). That being said, I love that Disney is letting Lego revisit these classic properties for adult targeted sets, even if its based on the remake.

This one looks fun, and Halle Bailey sounds great.

If you wouldn't mind, I'm sure some of us would love to see pics of the MOC back half connected to the official set once you receive and build it!

Will do! I'll probably make a thread for it as well.

Funny enough, new castle seems to be cheaper here than last one than to strong currency .

Definitely looking into it, because 4800 pieces sounds good and these classic characters too.

My take on Mickey and friends being included in the castle or not is that I don‘t mind them being there, but I‘d be sad if they were featured instead of Belle, Beast, Rapunzel, and Eugene, as Tangled and Beauty & the Beast are two of my favourite Disney films.

Then again, there are still like 4 or even 5 sets that are unaccounted for, so they might come in one or two of those, along with Merida :shrug_oh_well:

Personally I don't want the castle build. I'm sure it will look spectacular, but I just haven't got space for it and so I hope Mickey and Minnie aren't in there so that if I feel like it is better to buy the castle rather than the individual minifigures then every minifigure is one I want. Mickey and Minnie are in a lot of other sets now for those who want them after all. That being said, I get their status within the brand so I would understand if they are.

I would love a Rapunzel and Eugene as well as Merida. Would also love to see Kristoff somewhere to go along with Elsa and Anna from the CMF. Tangled, Frozen and Brave are highlights from the past (just over a) decade to me, whilst I grew up on Pocahontas, Mulan, 101 Dalmations, Jungle Book, Lion King, Toy Story, Peter Pan, A Bug's Life etc. This year's CMF has given me some childhood favourites (when I can get hold of them), and I love the new Tinker Bell, though if one of the sets is Peter Pan themed with Wendy and the Lost Boys (and if I was being super greedy then Nana) I would be ecstatic. Would also love Rapunzel's tower both if Rapunzel isn't in the castle and because a more detailed one would be a great display piece.

When am I going to get my Inside Out set and minifigs?

Maybe next year with the release of Inside Out 2? I also hope for Zootopia sets when Zootopia 2 is released (I wish we got them before though, I don't want to wait long!).

OMG I love Zootopia, too, I didn't know they were making a sequel of it.

Of the 5 sets unaccounted for, are they only for this year or does that include set numbers for 2024 as well? I'm thinking with how they have been drip feeding these sets to release over a year long period, we may see even more next year, at least up until March 2024 for a whole year of sets.

Edit: Forgot the Brickheads came out March 1, meaning March 2023 - March 24 would be the year

Nope, those are all 2023 sets  There have been instances before where we learned about sets scheduled for an upcoming year, but those were either A) SDCC reveals, B) sets that got delayed, or C) sets leaked by the official instructions portal, which so far happened only once, namely last year.

Under normal circumstances, rumoured set numbers only concern the current year.

Anyone having FOMO with the new castle? I said I wouldn't buy it as I've already got the original, lacking space, cost etc. but every detail I've hearing my wallet is getting lighter... :sceptic:

Only the minifigures.  I probably won't care for the castle even though I don't have the original.
