Alas_Earwax Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Man, I wish Lego would make some of their minifigures more accessible to fans who may not want to purchase every set. I get the appeal - however it isn't lego that benefit majorly this, it's resellers who charge above and beyond for them. Not really interested in getting my hands on the Icon Villains set, but the four minifigures are awesome. On average in the UK, I'm looking at around £20 a minifigure. Calculated together, this is £80 for the lot, when the set is only £124. If the minifigures were released in the CMF, you'd be looking at around £6-£10. I just don't understand the logic with some sellers at all. I especially don't understand why Lego continues to make certain minifigures exclusive... especially when it's characters that are as iconic as the Disney villains. I know it's business and all that, but it's so frustrating. Like the Princes & Princesses from the Disney Castle. Not interested in another castle, but getting this minifigures now will be literally impossible.

I think there is a place for exclusive minifigs, but also for repeats, especially in smaller sets. Lego could easily replicate what they do for the Star Wars franchise with the classic Disney line. But Lego is determined to keep things within the minidoll universe. They even said that today's children who are exposed only to minidolls will be tomorrow's adults who will feel nostalgic about it. Talk about brainwashing.
hikouki Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Several of the minifig-based 100 sets for Disney have been nominated at TOTY'23. Lego should pay more attention to that.
Black Falcon Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Lego will obviously continue making Minidoll Sets. But I also think they will also continue Minifigure-Based Sets. Might be that those will be mainly about older works though.
Alas_Earwax Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 You know, I actually don't mind minidolls. I think some of the princesses look better in minidoll form (Looking at you Elsa & Anna). But some look worse... Like Ursula for example. The skinny design of the dolls just doesn't work for her character at all. I'd be open to them doing more minidoll sets, but create a balance here so that people who like both can collect both.
Lego_Minecraft_Goat Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 I don't expect a minifigure in the mini Palace of Agrabah.

BrickBob Studpants Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 (edited) Yeah, no minifig. The set is branded as a Disney Princess one, so it never was going to include one anyway It’s still a neat set though! Edited September 1, 2023 by BrickBob Studpants
Aramar Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 I'm sad that there's no minifigure, and also I don't like the look on the castle. I will skip this one.
JohnTPT17 Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Well, that was the last hope for more Disney minifigs this year. I might see if I can find Wendy (and maybe Tinkerbelle) at some point, but otherwise that's it for me this year for Disney stuff!
DisneyLego Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 (edited) Winner of the 100 Years of Fairytales was announced…not to anyone’s surprise but it was the large scale Sorcerer Mickey set with various mini builds my only hope is that maybeeee they switch up a few of the movies to give us an opportunity for new minifigs instead of repeats. Or alternatively, provide different characters (Fairy Godmother/Lilo/Gepetto/King Triton/Kristoff) or at least different variations than what is proposed in the fan design. Also, with the mini Agrabah already coming out, I’d imagine the one in this design will be replaced with another movie. Edited September 1, 2023 by DisneyLego
Surge Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 agrabahs a bit disappointing, but at least i can save money now! just bought the camera excited to build, all thats left for me to get now is that wendy minifigure, awaiting bricklink sellers to list her
Frizzlefry25 Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Have to agree, disappointing look, no minifigure, no deal. I guess I don't have to worry about keeping this mini line going.

They chose this one specifically so they could reuse all the minifigures although at least Belle will be new. It would be quite funny if she's the only one they replace with another existing character. And the Agrabah Palace is a hard pass for me without any minifigs.
Jarreth2 Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 It is a shame there seems to be no minifigure with the Agrabah Palace .. what’s the reckoning the rumoured Triton’s Palace ( although I’m sure it’ll be marketed as Ariel’s ) for Jan 24 follows this same suit .. so no minifigure with that either 😔

Too good to be true. 4 hours ago, Jarreth2 said: It is a shame there seems to be no minifigure with the Agrabah Palace .. what’s the reckoning the rumoured Triton’s Palace ( although I’m sure it’ll be marketed as Ariel’s ) for Jan 24 follows this same suit .. so no minifigure with that either 😔 I feel Lego is trying to please both minifig and minidoll lovers with one product by leaving out any fig. Thank you, Lego for saving us from making another purchase this time of the year!
Surge Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 wow those wish sets are a lot better designed than i expected def gonna get that 20 dollar set on the 1st

Aramar Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 I "wish" they were minifigures, but those sets look great. I might even buy my first minidoll set (the cheapest one).
hikouki Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 Honestly, I had always been tempted to buy the Encanto sets as they looked really good. But then I would not have any minifigs to populate it with. I agree that the structures look well made. But who to put in them? Mini dolls are not for me.
Clone OPatra Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Well, now we know where that random new weave hairpiece in the City house set came from! It's kind of amusing how many Disney sets have this teal roof colour scheme. First Frozen, then Raya, now this. The designs do look great, which is no surprise given Marcos Bessa was involved, though they all look a bit small for their price points. The castle might have ok presence but still $100 for 613 pieces is never great to see. I'm mainly looking forward to the hairpieces on PaB eventually.
danth Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 What's up with the pinnacle piece on the Magnifico castle? Lego is now giving us cheap vinyl rooftops instead of Lego bricks? I hate it.

I think 1999's Ninja theme had some too...
