As far as information goes, it is based on the old movie. Though you can never be certain wether leaks are true, so people still like to spekulate. I don´t see any reason why we should doubt that informations as of now though.

Ah ok,  thanks. I’m hoping it would be basing off the classic movie myself.

So it seems that Disney is ditching their original plan of casting seven magical creatures, and instead will move forward with the remake with seven CGI dwarves based upon one real life little person.

I am really really hoping that this Lego set will be from the cartoon and not this remake.

I don't think this was ever the case. Rumor mill has been insane around the movie because of the casting backlash but I don't believe anyone at Disney ever confirmed using magical creatures, using or not using little people, etc...

The seven dwarves are a HUGE IP for Disney, they still appear frequently in marketing live shows, etc... I think we can all take a breath that the movie will be semi-faithful and if any changes are made it'll be out of a desire to be respectful to real little persons. Merchandising will almost certainly be the same.

Disney themselves announced that the dwarfs would be replaced by magical creatures in the aftermath of Peter Dinklage's statement. The magical creatures in question turned out to be dwarfs of Germanic folklore and not humans.

Disney didnt say that, that was spread around by "insiders." Disney's response to Peter Dinklage's comments are here:

Leaks have indicated that there will be a "Disney Princess" advent calendar - set number 43253, and supposedly have Elsa, Moana, Ariel, Mirabel, and Tiana. I hope it's Minifigures, but all of the leaked stuff titles Disney Princess is minidolls, correct?

Also, buildable Simba is seemingly confirmed: not set number. That's another one from the leaks confirmed if so!

hoping for minifigures but its unlikely

I wonder if any of them will be special holiday variants

I think the ideal scenerio is new repeat moana and tiana, then new mirabel, and maybe new ariel in human form

elsa probably would not be a repeat if its minifigures, so might as well make her either a holiday varient or in frozen 2 attire

If they're gonna be in outfits that have never appeared in the movies (i.e., hypothetical holiday outfits), then I could not care less about them being minidolls. I won't buy them.

But if Lego makes them customizable in regular form, then those Mirabel and human Ariel would be most welcome.

Never understood why Lego has to dress all these SW, Marvel, etc. characters in ugly sweaters (that all the Lego ambassadors on YT, aka Lego apologists so fervently love). They ought to include parts to return them back into their regular outfits (provide alternate torsos, etc).

Has anybody bought a second Villain Icons set and added to the first or done an alternate build? I would love Lego to do a 'Heroes' set and do the opposite bookend so to speak, but that probably won't happen.

If we keep harping about it, I bet they might actually consider it.

I agree with you but the reason is definitely to allow kids to get those characters without devaluing the secondary market. Examples being Drax from Marvel and Emperor Palpatine from SW.

A Princess/Disney calender would be awesome if it wasn't padded with junk like most of the other calendars. IMO there's zero chance it's minifigs though, and I think the leak lists more figs/dolls than typicaly come in a calendar anyway. I'm a little skeptical of it's legitimacy being it's a literal year away from release.

The Star Wars one from this year comes with five minifigs, Harry Potter has six, and Marvel has seven. So, I don't think that 5 minifigs/minidolls is out of the question at all. I do agree that the leak came really early, but it's coming from a source that has been reliable in the past.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks the calendars are overpriced for all the junk it contains.

I don’t care if calendar has some junk, I WANT DISNEY MINIFIGURES IN IT! Ahem, excuse me. No minidolls, please.

I generally dislike the minidolls, but 43215 The Enchanted Treehouse (aka Disney Princess minidoll battle pack) is reduced on Amazon today and I'm ridiculously tempted. There's something about a minidoll battle pack with characters never seen in minidoll form before that tempts me; probably the idea that it will be pretty much a one and done thing when it comes to getting all of the princesses. It's not like I haven't even got all the princesses they have done in minifigure form. Why brain? Why?

minifigures isn’t crazy but 5 minidolls would be considering that the Friends advent calendars typically only come with one or two

And on the minifigs side of things - there’s usually only so many new minifig prints per calendar, and while Moana and Tiana have been released in sets this year, Elsa and Ariel were only released in CMFs quite awhile ago (no chance of reusing their prints) and Maribel has never been made as a minifig. The 2020 Harry Potter advent calendar managed to squeeze in 3 characters in brand new gowns, but one of them used a preexisting head and the other two were twins who shared a new one so I’m not sure Elsa, Ariel, and Maribel could be squeezed into the budget like that.

Honestly, I know I’ll be accused of fear-mongering, but why hasn’t anyone brought up the very real possibility that the advent calendar could be stocked with the pint sized minidolls lego uses in the storybook sets? All of the named characters bar Moana have been made in that form before and they use normal minidoll heads and hair so it would be perfectly feasible budget-wise to do a new body for Moana + an exclusive new holiday special inspired one for one or two of the others. Not saying I think it would be the best idea, but clearly the storybooks do well enough with the target audience for them to keep making them year after year and lego have made stupider decisions regarding advent calendars in the past.

To be honest I think the pint sized ones are cuter, so if it isn't minifigures then I say go for it. :laugh_hard:

Tbh they are pretty cute. And with the average size of an advent calendar build I could easily imagine the 19 other gifts including some tiny vignettes for them to play in (plus a few animal companions of course). It’s something I can see going over very well with the little girls the Disney Princess line is geared towards, which is why I pointed out the possibility.

When did Lego reduce the number? I'm sure it used to be eight minifigs in Advent Calendars across the board - the formula was minifigure followed by two days of builds related to said minifigure, then new minifigure and repeat.

I used to count the days by when the next minifig was due.

How easy do you think it would be to remove the print from the mermaid tail piece? I've been eyeing the denim mermaid tail from Build a Minifigure and if I could get the print off easy, I think it would be a good substitute for an animated movie King Triton but don't want to jump unless its easy to get the print off without damaging the piece.

It takes a bit of elbow grease and metal polish.

FYI, I also happen to collect monochrome minifigs and some of those are wiped off by resellers from existing minifigs.

It is very doable - you just have to be patient. (I've tried Brasso as recommended over on the customization message boards).
