Hello, I am new to legos, I had a little boy recently and all of a sudden before I know it I'm spun out on Lego Star Wars.I just got into it the last 6 months so that new and don't know the history of it but have done some digging.  I love the playsets and I've just recently rabbit trailed into MandR youtube and his best worst series to see what has come through the last few years.

Anyways, I'm just figuring this out and realizing they retire sets every year and see that the Millenium Falcon and AT-AT are retiring this year at the end of the year.  I already got the Razor Crest.  I really want to get these sets before they retire at the end of the year, but in seeing some of these youtube channels on Star Wars legos, it seems they create these 2 builds every few years, or at least that is the perception I'm getting in these reviews.  I don't want these to retire at the end of the year and then I can't get one for a long time again.  Can I assume they will come out with similar ones of these with little changes in the next 5 years or so, or should I go ahead and get these 2 by the end of the year?  It will not affect me getting the other current bigger playsets like the Imperial light cruiser and the AT-TE Walker which I assume will be out at least through all of 2024.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, i think most people will agree, when i say we won't see another UCS Falcon or AT-AT for more than 5 years. The first Falcon was sold from 2007 until 2010, the second was realeased 2017 and will be on shelf for ~6 years, when it's discontinued. I highly doubt a new release this decade. The AT-AT is just bad for its price. That will take even longer for a new one.

If it doesn't hurt your wallet too much and if you really want them, look for a discount. The Falcon is at $680 on ebay.

Thanks for the info much much appreciated!

What about the regular playsets and not the UCS, like the ones under $200?  I see the Falcon playset have been released in 2000, 2004, 2011, 2015, 2018, and 2019.  Wasn't sure if I should grab the $169.99 version in case they won't make one for about 8 years or if they may release in the next 3-5 years again?

Looks like with the AT-At's Lego released in 2003, 2007, 2010, 2014, and 2020.  Maybe I should try and grab the AT-AT thinking they won' do another for 5+ years but maybe they will.

Don't want to miss out on not buying these before they retire at the end of the year but also would be frustrated if I did buy and they release another one in like 2 or 3 years.

I think you should get the AT-AT now if you can afford it. It's by far the best minifig playscale AT-AT they've ever made, and there probably won't be another one for several years.

I think we're due for a new Millennium Falcon in the next year or two, but I think you should get it now if you can afford it. It's the best minifig playscale Falcon they've ever made, and the next one will probably be both smaller/simpler/less detailed and more expensive.

Much appreciated man I think I will lean this way.  Really makes my decision easy and I was already trending this direction.

I agree with @icm to go for the AT-AT if you're choosing between that and the Falcon, as LEGO tries to keep a play-scale Falcon on shelves at all time, while the same can't be said for the AT-AT, so it's more probable we'll get a new Falcon in the next couple of years while they phase out the current one.
Owning both I can confirm they are both solid sets, and that AT-AT ticks all the boxes from what one could want from such a playset.

The UCS Sets aren't exactly "playable" / "Swooshable" - that said - you may find yourself with memories of a life time working on said sets - the mini-figs on both are worth it for sure.

The Falcon is likely to retire sooner than the AT-AT in age terms imho.

I really don't see the Falcon being released again as its rather perfected - but who knows.

I own both - no regrets here. :)

The UCS Falcon is still the definitive crown jewel of the Star Wars sets and I don't see it retiring any time soon. The ATAT is cool but definitely not as cool as the Falcon. Same price, choice is yours.
