icm Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 Good alt-build. I like this better than the set it came from, but that's mainly just because I'm not much into big robots and mechs. Quote

TeriXeri Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 (edited) Really nice Alternate build ! Looks like some truck straight out of Xcom 2 universe, really reminds of that from a recent playthrough, as the enemy faction uses black trucks with red logos, some with red glass or red interior lights, and some big cargo in some mission is still delivered by land trucks. Game also has humanoid sized mechs or missions that involve picking up cargo crates. And this even comes from a big robot, when one of the largest enemies in the game is a Black/Red robot too with big red lasers when it charges it's area cannon. Artanis I Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 Another one that's better than the original Quote
Henkeso Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 This whole thread is a delight! Reminds me of how I spent hours rebuilding these sets when I was a kid. Mine weren't as cool-looking, of course. The most recent one is great, I also love mechs and robots but didn't like that particular set because the robot had wheels instead of legs, and even back then I thought it was cheating. Quote
grohl Posted March 22, 2024 Author Posted March 22, 2024 Wow, thank you for such amazing response. I had fun designing this one and hoped people will appreciate the amount of things that can be played with. I had no attachment to the whole Spyrius theme since it came out when I was approaching my dark ages, but I have to say the Robo Guardian is a great toy, regardless of the missing legs. Quote
grohl Posted August 2, 2024 Author Posted August 2, 2024 Hello everybody, The Recon Unit Truck is my first alternate build of the 6898. The truck has an opening cockpit, working fifth wheel to connect the trailer, holder for the satellite, ice chainsaw and a magnetic crane for the tiny ice drone. The trailer holds a launching ramp for the small recon jet that can fit a minifigure underneath the opening cockpit. The small rocket is a side build from the leftover parts and the satellite can be attached to it. And the orignal set. Quote
danth Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Nice ship launcher! Hearkens back to 6870 and 6871. Quote
grohl Posted November 16, 2024 Author Posted November 16, 2024 Blacktron II Surface Explorer is my first alternate build of the 6933 Spectral Starguider and utilizes 100% of the parts. The model features: Front axle steering Suspension on rear two axles Opening front and side cockpit sections Small flyer with opening cockpit Storage box at the back Opening maintenance hatch Quote

SPY TRUCK features: opening canopy of the truck detachable trailer 360° rotating crane adjustable position of the crane boom controlled by a lever in front of the operator climbing ladder for the crane operator swappable magnetic or claw crane attachment two droids sample container storage explorer spaceship with changing wing geometry that allows it to carry the container asteroid to explore I missed this one when it was posted months ago but I love it—feels almost like if some of the mobile base sets from more modern themes like Chima or Agents got transported back in time to Spyrius! I like the Spyrius theme's emphasis on saucers and mechs but could easily see a truck like this doing ground-based logistical support for them. Quote
grohl Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 BLACK TRON BIKE Check out this even-weirder-than-the-main-model alternate build. It features 3 almost in-line wheels and opening cockpit. The model uses 100% of the available set parts. Happy Building! Quote
Artanis I Posted January 10 Posted January 10 The assymetry of the front wheel always bothered me on that trike set. One side open, the other closed. Quote
grohl Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 I always thought this was the weakest Blacktron 2 set. Quote
