True, many unused base colors can still work for a new horse.

The leak image seems to have brown/dark orange, but that could be preliminary.  Original Market Village had a white horse. 

If we're getting the goat here, I'd love a gray horse (no spots needed to save budget) to evoke Mill Village Raid even more.  Or, unlikely, a pinto to use in a Western scene.  

In the pic, is it the "crook"/Forestman riding the horse?  If it's a true crook rather than an anti-hero, I don't see him riding a white horse at least.  Brown is still most likely.

The leak also has sand blue prototype goats, so the colour of the horse could definitely change.

Grey would be perfect, since it is more distinct than the other potential colours, and because it can be used easily for any faction (and because it only appeared once with the old mould!).

That is true, the best is to get a new colour, second best black if we get something we already got..

I would guess that all the animals are just preliminary, just there to show the set is going to have a lot. If we at least get the same amount of animals that is fine, but things like 3 owls make little sense. That is more than 95% of HP sets have gotten since they started making them again, 1 owl, 1 falcon and 1 hen make more sense then as an example. MMV and MVR had a lot of animals in new moulds and prints so makes sense that this set do also, all the ones in the picture where existing ones except the goat in a prelim mould. Even if we where to get exactly the same animals I expect a lot of them has new print/colour

A black foal would be nice to get in the set as well, I love that mould and still has not been seen in any normal sets.

The white one was also avaiable on Pick a Brick already - and can also be used for castle. But makes it a bit unlikely they would do another one.

I would love to get the grey one which we had in the mill raid set. However I don´t think we will get a new colour since likely they will need their budget for the goat and minifigs.

As said above, I have my doubts about that. I am hoping for a lot new pieces for the minifigs in the set and there might not be enough budget to make new animal colours too - however I wouldn´t mind to get some. If we would get new colours, I would guess to get them for animals that will retire end of this month, since they would need more budget than just using still in production ones.

MVR had 2 new animal moulds, 3 new printed animals and several new minifigs. That was not even a big D2C just a normal retail set, so it is possible to get both

One obviously beeing the Goat, which one is the second new mould they made for it? 

Anyways I hope they add some good stuff to it like a printed shield for the inn (and hoepfully no stickers at all), many nice prints for the minifigures and maybe some interesting shields. In the end we don´t know what else they added but when I look back at the Medieval Blacksmith, where they stated that they didn´t had the budget for the goat, I wouldn´t get my hopes to much up - rather get positively surprised rather than disapointed like with the Majisto Set - where we got "leaks" beforehand stating it would be two knights and a horse in there. ;).

The second mold is either the chicken or the pig.  I don't remember which one was new.  That would be nice if it was like the Viking Village and had no stickers.  I'm just hoping for some new torso prints, some new shield prints, and some new animal colors.

Speaking of chickens, the Friends Farm Animal Sanctuary set also introduces the small bird mold (that has previously come in white, dark azure, and red in both minifig and minidoll sets) in cool yellow as a baby chick, which would also be welcome in a set like this.

I'm skeptical it's January 1, but Brickcatch.com has it for that date.  No idea how reliable that source is.  And other than the survey leak, the other leaks about it came with Dune Ornithopter (Feb 2024 release) and Natural History Museum (Dec 2023 release).  Maybe that suggests an earlier than April 2024 release, on which most sources are coalescing.

Thanks for answering. I'm honestly skeptical as well, we should have got some more information at this point.

The Pig wasn´t new, but I am actually surprised it really was that chicken. Would have bet that it would have already existed lol. However the Chicken also was introduced in another set, so they might have shared the budget (although, it is a quite small set, but who knows). And yeah, since we got no stickers in the Lion Knights Castle, the Galaxy Explorer and the Eldorado Fortess, I actually expect to have no stickers there either - everything else would be a huge disappointement.

You can´t really base a guess on a release date with when we got the first leaks. Just compare the leaks from the Minifigure-Series 25 with the ones from the Space Series - and we even got Pics from that one. I am still quite certain that it will be April, and if not than March, since that is what different sources stated. However I wouldn´t be urprised if we get more information about the sets soon - such as number of minifigures and animals.

Its the hen/chicken 
We already got the axe shield in LKC so I guess they would use that
Blacksmith was a Ideas set and they usually have close to zero budget
I already got my hopes way much up

It is possible, sometimes they manage to keep the D2C under wraps (sort of if that is the case here) very long and the normal sets only leaked last week right? However I do not think it is the most likely month now with the lack of info

The print on the pig was new.
The other set was in the same wave of Castle set so that is the same budget or share it if you like..

I wouldn´t say that. We got the sign of the Blacksmith, the shields for the black falcons, one new part, the Black Falcons Torso and legs, the blacksmiths torso, some recoloured or returning parts.

And most important, we got a new Horse ;).

Lego just posted a video on Instagram (and presumably other platforms) of a medieval scene featuring the castle and blacksmiths shop that ends in a close up of the old dragon. Would be nice if that was a teaser.

That's interesting. Is it normal for them to post pictures of parts that are no longer available? I know that store displays are restricted to only the currently available parts. This could indicate that a Fright Knights set is coming. It would be amazing if they brought back the original dragon mold.

Interesting!  There's no rumor of a dragon in this set, and the dragons in the D&D set and Lunar New Year are green and red, not black.

Occasionally; the dragon plume appeared in a video and made all of us think that it was returning in Majisto’s Workshop, for example. 🫤

I’m not thinking that there’d be an actual dragon in the set - more if it were a hint about the faction that could appear. The one (shield less) knight in the majisto set needs company!

Both are not the sets were that dragon would return to anyways. Aside from that the LNY would feature a more chinese Dragon and the D&D had a big brickbuild one, with no way to reduce it to that size, the only sets where that dragon would actually make sense i s a retro one - and even the Medieval Town Square isn´t retro enough, since it is a complete new set inspired by past sets.

It actually seems a bit unlikely that they bring that dragon back - on the other side it is very iconic so they could just make a gwp with that dragon, and a minifig. maybe a mini sidebuild. And yes it seems unlikely they would bring it back in a gwp - but you never know what they are planning. All in all I wouldn´t get my hopes up to much, since just adding something from past themes doesn´t have to mean anything.

As for this beeing a teaser for the MTS, you sadly don´t see much in there, that doesn´t belong to either the MBS or LKC. So best guess out of it for the MTS would be we get a pig and a chicken lol.

Would be nice to see those old round trees come back, and also the large pine tree , at least for some classical intended sets.

LEGO still does the small pine trees,  even added quite a few colors for it in recent years.

I do love the modern plant pieces too, even the new ones from 2024, large fern/palm leaf , and bush/tree leaves parts are great additions.

Of course brick built trees and bushes are nice, but sometimes, seem to be used to give illusion of high parts counts, to stay within or above the community's "10 cent" rule. (Friends 2024 Shopping mall just has a ton of small plant pieces as decoration)

That said, repeated use of the same pieces in large quantities, doesn't seem to affect price itself as much as large special parts, sets like 3-in-1 peacock has a lot of the same parts but a good price ratio, same for those small botanical sets like blossoms or daffodils, of which half the set are  just technic tubes and mini axles. DOTS was a good example of that as well.

 

As for the dragon, it's strange it's the Batlord / Cedric the Bull era dragon (which appeared at least 4 years after Majisto/Dragon Knights, skipping the entire Royal Knights, and Dark Forest in North America).

However, I also can understand LEGO keeping around Crusader/Lion Knights in production for longer, instead of going to produce 2 different Lion factions at the same time.

Black Knights also did not appear either, LEGO went straight to their sucessor Dragon Knights, with the Majisto set, but perhaps those Icons type of releases don't really follow a linear chronologic path anyway.

I don't really think a Black Dragon like that would fit with the Town Square, but is  there because of the CMF batlord.

LEGO has reused  most parts from the Bard before, so who knows, if those Batlord parts do show up later.
