Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread

I want the double axe torso.  Was disappointed it wasn’t in the castle.  Possible they already knew they were going to do this as a separate set when they decided not to include it with the castle and saved some things like that torso.  At least that’s what I’m hoping.  Especially since it was strange to make the shield (which I think never existed before) but not the torso which was very common in the old lion knight sets.

Safe guesses would be Lions (or Falcons, though less likely) and Forestmen; Black Knights and Wolfpack are both likely possibilities for new factions, however. Dragon Masters, Royal Knights, Dark Forest, and Fright Knights are very unlikely IMO. If we do get more Lions, I can see us getting the crossed axe variant for a bit of variety.

It did not; it only appeared on torsos prior to the LKC.

If it does not appear in the MTS, maybe it will show up in BAM? We have gotten exclusive torsos before, and there will be Lion Knights' pieces in the January BAM lineup. 🤔

I am enjoying speculating on the name of the inn as Broken Axes Inn and a connection to a faction.  Is it a reference to a battle of Crossed Axes, fighting off a Viking Raid, a failed Forestmen rebellion, an impressive forest nearby...

It's a highly specific name and appropriate for the time period considering Lego does generic names (Jazz Club) and puns (Moby Brick) in many 18+ sets. 

Since it was prominent enough for a leak, it could be a key piece of the set.  I like brick-built signs, but a print on a piece that could double as a shield would be really fun too for MOC as a new faction.

I just realised that the Sorting Hat was one of the sets from the survey; the prelim version is nearly identical to the finished set (the main difference that I can see is the construction of the eyebrows), which bodes quite well for the MTS! 
It does make me worry about the X-Mansion, though. . . 😐

Agree.

X-Mansion is probably gonna have either less minifigs, or if the same number then absent leg printing/ repeat elements; mansion will be a facade and not even a dollhouse.

I cannot expect them to do a masterpiece Rivendell for a Marvel theme.

Some of the sets like MTS was very closed to the finished product in the leak others where definitely not, makes sense that the sorting hat and MTS are released at the start of the year then while a lot of the others are not even "confirmed" yet.

  I got the impression it was re-release of the lion knight parts we got there earlier If so why can not TLG understand that most of us need the white falcon fig and not parts we can buy from PAB

That would be terrible for everyone who doesn’t live near a Lego store.

or those that do and find all the castle figures are snapped up by the d’n’d crowd all the time.

As did I, but there are no descriptions for any of the BAM parts (beyond “New Pirate Torso”, etc). That said, a reuse of the existing parts is probably more likely.

I agree! I was just speculating on how we could get axe knights, since I am not entirely convinced that they will be in the MTS (I think that LEGO would want to do a new faction for the set).

They did, but they also hinted at all pre-2000 factions, so I am not sure how much we can read into that. I do feel like Wolfpack and Black Knights are likely, however, since LEGO seems to like introducing new factions in each subsequent set (Blacksmith - Falcons; LKC - Lions, Forestmen, reused Falcons; MTS - ???).

Would have been nice to have seen them period. Never saw one in all the ones in the UK shops I went to.

I bought 3 from the Leicester sq store, and a bunch from Bricklink when they were starting to become scarce. I do like them but think the falcon print on the cape looks funny. Would definitely prefer a new (/old) faction in the MTS just for a bit of variety! Can’t wait to see some official pictures, but feel like I’m forever wishing my life away!

I was lucky to catch five or six on the BAM tower when they were available. The staff looked the other way when I assembled them, since they were kind of pre-packed in those 3 figpacks.

I actually don´t think the falcon on the cape is the problem, but for me at least, the caps just is way to short which makes it look strange.

Ah well, for me that seemed more like some look back at some Lego Sets they did before and not exactly a hint on their return.

However I think they are still the faction that is most likely to return in the nearer future, however for now they might keep producing factions they already have.

They need to make the BAM available online.  They could delay the online release if the argument is they want to encourage people to go to the store.  Most people just can not go every day to check and a lot of people don’t have a store to go to at all.  And I just don’t like digging around in parts that may be damaged or dirty from all the digging.  I know they did something in other countries.  But so far not in the US.

The BAM online was pretty good for about a day…

It started with very few parts of each category and got worse once even some of them were gone. There were admitedly some good ones at the beginning, but I wouldn´t say it was ever really good.

Definitely not really good. But it was above my expectations very briefly! Hopefully it will make a comeback this year - it would be nice to have some of the figures available from medieval sets like this one in it. If not, we always have PAB, I guess.

Well they stated they wanted to improve it, so I am having hopes it will get better again. And while it certainly wasn´t that good when it started it still had some interesting parts - which I sadly missed because they all got removed when I next made an order in their Online-Shop.

LEGO tried , and I think they ultimately decided that opening new distribution centers for Pick a Brick with Bestseller minifig parts was probably easier to manage (and their parts prices got adjusted over time)

That said, the online Pick a Brick will pretty much always be more expensive then actual Build a Minifigure in physical stores, as cost can vary a lot between parts, especially accesoires/animals. (Minidoll parts/special moulded minifig heads even moreso s,ome of the crab heads from monkie kid are listed at over €5  or minidoll torsos and legs are over €2-3 each )
