Anyone here interested in in the visual identity of the box ?

I imagine it won't be yellow like the classic castle sets were because its original inspiration is not from that time. I really liked 10193 Medieval Market Village box artwork and I would love to see a similar approach for the upcoming 10332 Medieval Town Square, but LEGO will certainly continue in its graphic code of Icons boxes with a horribly empty and boring black since colorful boxes seem to be reserved for playsets intended for children.

I think they will still go with the style from Lion Knights Castle as it should function mostly as an add-on / expansion to that existing set.

With any luck, LEGO decides to give a hint at more, by adding "Castle Collection" on it (like they do with botanical, winter, modular etc), but I doubt it'll be the plain black box design.

The box on the Majisto GWP wasn't that great , it still matched the original, but sharper, but also wasn't labeled 18+ , compared to earlier designs like Blacktron Cruiser or Forest Hideout, however, 1993 also was after the "LEGOLAND" banner era of themes, so putting one on it would have been somewhat odd as well.

Of course it all depends what factions will be present in this village.

As long as we get diverse civilians with different torso prints I'm fine. Don't need new factions. Lego should use their entire budget for this set for civilian minifigs. After all it's a medieval market, not a castle. The leaked pictures of the 4 houses look good to me.

Exactly my thought. I just hope they use all their budget on new prints for the minifigs, shields, signs and animals - and rather have knights reused from the LKC than other minifigures - however I am sure we will see some parts reused eitherway but the less the better.

So excited for this set after seeing the price on D&D.  I'm sure the D&D set will look amazing and has some exclusive prints, but MTS is more affordable and probably adaptable, especially if the buildings can be dollhouse or fully-enclosed.

MTS 3304 parts 230$

D&D 3745 parts 360$

Either MTS has really good value or something is wrong here :sceptic:
D&D has licensing of course, but probably not that many minifigs and the dragon is not moulded right?! So it seems a little expensive, but not unlikely I guess with the prices today :shrug_oh_well:

MTS has not the licensing cost and save some there, but with only 441 parts less and 130$ cheaper with lots of minifigs and moulded animals?! *huh* That's Ninjago City set value just with half the size and plenty of moulded animals included. Not impossible, but will be really interesting to see the finished set, if they have done it right it is probably the set of the year :dsweet:

Dungeons and dragons is indeed expensive. That's why I don't buy licensed sets. Starwars prices are ridiculous!

Except for Rivendell... Lol! :pir_tong2: One cannot simply walk into a Lego store without buying this. The only licensed set that's worth it. Ok, Indiana Jones too.

The best value for money is the Galaxy Explorer remake  I think. Maybe Viking Village too.

The price of the medieval market looks 'cheap' (for Lego). Hopefully it will not affectie the quality of the minifigs. But I have hope. They did a great job with Viking Village. New torso and shield prints. Even printed legs! I didn't expected that for an Ideas set.

It's not just the licensing costs that could increase the price, but also market potential. There are lots of D&D players out there who would likely be fine buying something premium at this price point, so they test the market by having a much higher price. See also a load of the Marvel sets that are ludicrously priced. They can discount it later if they need to. MTS likely won't have that, as the buyers for that are most likely a bit more LEGO savvy and know how to get bricks at a better value and understand the power of Rebrickable to get most of what they want.

MTS might be LEGO exclusive, while most IDEAS sets are eventually found on broader market (outside some exceptions like Viking Village which was a Target / LEGO.com exclusive afaik)

Many of the more amazing PPP to price ratio sets have been like that recently (3-in-1 Birdhouse, Cat Hotel, Dreamzzz village, 3-in-1 Castle , Viking Village etc have been pretty much LEGO Exclusives over here, and then for 2024, Chinese New Year Restaurant is the big standout at 1800+ pieces for €100 / $130)

Also parts count alone could be inflated by lots of 1x1 tiles or flowers, in a village, roofs could be covered by 1x1 dots, trees with flowers, or just tiny plates being mass used in walls for texture or something.

Without images, it says little, even for 2 LEGO exclusive sets, Viking Village has 2100 for €140, while Eldorado has 2500 for €215 .

I would expect the Medieval Town Square to have more Minifigs and Animals, while the Dungeons and Dragons Set might have bigger Parts in return - but the main difference might indeed be licensing, and then we have no idea how both will be sold. It isn´t that unlikely to me that both could be Exclusively to either Lego alone or one of their Partners. Even then the difference still sounds a bit big though, especially since I would think of the D&D one having 5 Minifigs (ofc it is possible there will be more but it just sounds the most likely number to me). We will just have to wait till we see both of them I guess.

The Rivendell and Indiana Jones Sets are both Sets that are still on my list - however likely MTS will land there too and when the D&D one comes near to the fan build that one too - which ones I am really going to buy in the end, no idea, I don´t really have space for either right now.

Medieval Blacksmith was Exclusive to Lego and one of their Exclusive Partners same like the 3-in-1 Set is. And it seems very likley that both the MTS and the D&D one will be the same - if not exclusive to Lego alone only.

That could be a valid point since they will earn a lot more on exclusive sets sold for full price than selling the set for half price or similar to another retailer :classic:

Eldorado fortress is probably the closest we get since it is a similar type of Icons set, but this have like 800 parts extra for only 15$ more. And Eldorado has only 8 minifigs and a lot of them are basically the same in addition very few animals. It will be very interesting to see what they have done with the set. Of course if Lego said to the designers this is a set focused on animals and civilians so you can include 10 animals from other sets in the set for "free". I do not know if they do that, but would suddenly explain the decent price on the set included generous amounts of minifigs and animals

The City 4+ farm set only just retired 2 days ago officially, so seeing sheep , cow, pig, or any of the baby variants reused wouldn't surprise me (maybe not all , but some) , they are still listed as Bestseller parts, and cow and lamb are also still made for Lion Knight's Castle.

There are 2 colors of horse in official sets still + the reddish brown variant is also still a Bestseller part currently €6,00 , price seems to have gone up a tiny bit with 2024, but still less then when launched.

And reusing the Goat and Falcon  (in likely different color and/or print) from CMF would be a nice bonus, as well as any recolored "existing" animals (horse, sheep, cow, pig etc)

As far as 800 extra parts, if it's anything like Medieval Market Village , a large central tree could take up a bunch of parts (or multiple trees with flowers or those new "Friends" leaves, or just A-Frame Cabin style which also takes parts in form of technic tubes and axles), and LEGO likes to use the newer Fern pieces in a lot of places as well, and lots of 1x1 bits on terrain or roofs

A set like 40725: Cherry Blossoms is a good example how LEGO can put a lot of tiny parts in a small place when it comes to plants, and that's a 438 part set for €15 (as low as 3 cents per part), because it has a lot of parts in 20+ quantity.

At 35 cm, even would work as Minifig scale trees (with giant flowers but that's LEGO), and easily modified for more colors and other leaf variants (not all real world trees have long branches either)

The one thing that ties it to the LKC the tower that looks exactly like the ones you see on the Lion Knight's Castle.  That makes it classic castle to me, at least in spirit.  I'm not sure if they will be tying further references like with shields or knights, but the tower alone, IMO, makes it a companion set to LKC.  For that reasoning, I can see it having a yellow box, even if it wasn't a true Classic Castle original theme.

I even hedge my bets that this has direct connection points to the LKC, since there are some unused slots on the side of one of the buildings where that tower would connect perfrectly into.  I could see TLG having planned an expansion set like this very early on.

Was it exclusive?  I got mine on Amazon directly, the year it was released on Black Friday.  I can't imagine that was the only retailer that had the blacksmith.

Dunno how it was on release, but later on the Blacksmith was widely available here.

If this is the connection you're talking about, adding a tower there would be kinda awkward...

Well it happened before that Sets didn´t have the same exclusivity in all countrys - though for most Sets it seems to be the same at least in NA, Europe and Australia. So it is possible it was not exclusive at all in your country.

All I can say here it was exclusive to Lego and one of their partners. And while it wasn´t Amazon that had it, they also are on of those partners here - they are the only ones that, aside from Lego, are selling Rivendell.

If I'm not mistaken, there are hole connections on the other side as well, part of the chimney for the small building.  The tower could connect to there.  The one you pointed out could connect to some of the other buildings, so if you have the castle displayed open there would be buildings on both sides of the castle framing it.  Just my hunch at how it could be modular.  They seem to be going in a modularity with Harry Potter diagon alley sets, so I figure Market Square might be able to connect to itself, and the LKC.  It depends on what the final design looks like.

I’m relieved this set is coming out march 3rd, however, I think the leaked trademarked images from last year, shows the tower closely identical to the one can connect to the castle but I guess we will have 800 extra pieces to figure it out in a few months hehe

Where did this March 3rd release date come from?

Brickclicker had the info before Christmas.  Falconbricks has it as well it as well.  Nothing about the 3rd vs 1st though.

Only 2 months until it is for sale today :pir-triumph:
That is nothing when I have been waiting 12 years for the set :moar:

When do we expect them to reveal it? 1-2 weeks before it is for sale?

ughhhhh the more time passes the more I realize I'll only be getting this set in a years time. That pirate bricklink porgram set, baradur, and d&d set are bigger priorities even though the leaked picture of the village looks so good DX why do all the best lego sets come out when I was too little to buy them or have college to pay for :((((

Baradur comes out in June You have time hahaha

All kidding aside, I always had a chance to buy the medieval village back when Kingdoms came out, for some reason I thought it was part of it, but I passed on it thinking the retail price was too much. Never again though!!!

I buy anything I am slightly interested in for this exact reason. Within reason.

Guess we'll see, though I kinda doubt the chimney holes were intended for anything...

there's a tree on the side of the tower in the MV that I think will prohibit that tower being attached to those holes. No other building seems talll enough to connect to it either :(
