Today was decision day.I took the day off especially for this day.

It would be the medieval market for 230€ or Mountain Fortress for 340€.Not both.

Medieval market is a dissapointment for me. So Mountain Fortress it has become! Will buy just the new torsos and shield on Pick a Brick.

Totally agree. Eldorado Fortress was also a dissapointment. Amateur designers at Rebrickable and Bricklink have become so good.

Thank you bro! :pir-thumb:

Did it get the funding needed yet?

The set introduces a completely new wooden-panel-style door piece which can fit a square window lattice piece or the small window glass piece. It can be seen on the right building part of the farm building (tan and brown building with the fences on the back of it and the dark tan roof). Also there are more hidden easter eggs that are not directly shown on the main product photographs. Including new nano-figs and exclusive shield printing. We are getting a ton of useful civilian torsos and exclusive prints (more than in any previous single castle set). For me personally this set is an upgrade compared to the previous Medieval Market village because the buildings are more diverse and detailed. I can understand the disappointment regarding the number of animals but most of the animals in the prelim were just plain boring reuses. I much rather like to see fewer animals with new recolours and "new" moulds like the dbg goat than a a dozen animals that were available for the last two years in other sets and on the Lego PAB online store.

It had the funding in the first ten minutes after the sale went live. It is almost sold out. All of the projects have reached the funded state

This set could have used some diagonal truss stickers for the Fachwerk buildings. It looks really bad without. At least in the Medieval Blacksmith they tried with the curved pieces to make something more realistic. The rest is pretty good, but man did Lego cheap out on animals and minifigures compared to the survey leak.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but it looks like the tax collector has a hidey-hole for the coins in his room, and it slides into the roof outside?

I do wonder with as lukewarm as this set is being received here, if that will trickle down into less sales of this set. I hope Lego doesn't take the wrong message in that we don't want medieval peasant sets - just that this done did not match out year-long pent up expectations.

Sold out!

That is fair.

Personally I think Bricklink Designer Castle is a bit overpriced too for what you get.  Literally $20 more and that's LKC price with many more figs, animals and some unique molds to play with.  But I do like the concept of the Castle and the BDP, it just doesn't appeal to me as much now since I know Lego is pushing forward with making new Castle elements in new Castle themed sets.

Well in Europe it's 340€ instead of the 380$ in USA

I really would have liked to see more animals, more shields, and at the very least a cross axes guard torso print.  Wolfpack dude is a glorious addition, but not enough to make up for what it seems to be lacking.

Im in the same camp as this. I was really hoping for a good animal and shield parts pack in this set with a couple of good army builders (wolfpack is great and half expected/hoped for one robbing the villagers but wanted one more for a different guard) alongside the peasants.

I can probably PAB all the torsos and animals pretty easily a few months down the road.

Concerns me that with amount of people saying they are going to get it off PAB that it'll go the way of the Red Classic Space Torso where it takes ages to show up on PAB (if at all) then disappear without a steady supply ever being in stock especially if MTS doesnt sell well and they see this as the reason.

The Icons Spaceship was a retail (Walmart) exclusive, though - ergo, less of those would have been made. Compare that to the more widely available Eldorado Fortress: those pirate and soldier pieces and fairly consistently in stock now.

I'm not sure why so many complaints about this set. It's not perfect but few sets are. I personally think it's a great set from what I can see.

If you want more animals jump on PAB and get what you want. I remember there were people who didn't get the original MMV when it came out only to regret their decision when it was discounted and the value went up.

We are getting 6 new minifigs out of 8 with 4 of those being new medieval civilian prints from what I can see. The castle community has been wining about lack of peasants for years. Now we have them!

There also appears to be many new printed parts. They don't appear to be stickers.

We get new tan lattice shutters in addition to the new black lattice shutters on the new Snow White set for building MOCs.

If the design team included more animals the price would have had to increase or they would have had to make cuts like how many new torso prints were included in the set etc.

I think many of those complaining need to take a 2nd look at it once it's released and we have higher resolution photos and proper marketing photos on the Lego website.

Remember if sets like this don't sell well Lego with think twice about putting out any new medieval/castle themed sets in the future. Huge sales numbers matter! I will purchase at least one and maybe get a 2nd one to keep sealed as well as getting some extras of the figs on PAB eventually.

Based on what I see so far I give this set a solid 9 out of 10 but will reserve my final critique until the hi res photos are out.

This is definitely a day one purchase for me!

Good point. Do we know if MTS wont be exclusive? (Guess its country specific anyway). PAB isnt guaranteed though but hope Lego will put it on their irregardless as surely they know castle fans want more than one and wont buy multiple MTS sets.

Somehow Lego sets like Eldorado Fortress and now the Medieval Town Square fail to impress me because i have seen so many good mocs.

I agree, but not for the same reasons. 2 years ago if you asked me my top 2 dream sets Lego could make I would have answered those two sets basically. Now they have made them both and an while they are not bad sets at all they are not as impressive as they should have been and definitely no wear near the dream sets I hoped for. If they can not impress me with my dream sets I will probably save a lot of money in the coming years :def_shrug:

Me too. Rather a more expensive yet impressive set then a cheaper but underwhelming set.

Afols should be the group with most money among their customers, so why do they compromise with the price on sets aimed at us?! Would make more sense to do that in City, Ninjago etc aimed at kids..

I'll grant you that. Luckily, over the years I purchased enough animals through PAB and BrickLink to populate any kind of market square you can imagine.

Me too, but was expecting them in new colours etc in this set :sadnew:

People say this about every hugh AFOL set. And what is the consequence? Should people who dislike the set buy it just to make LEGO happy? Then get more mediocre sets that we have to buy to keep lego happy?

If a set is good people will buy it. If not, well...

My impression is rather good but I remain disappointed nonetheless.

The +

- overall a solid extension to the castle which respects its aesthetics;

- I like the different types of buildings;

- new prints (and civilian ones!) ;

- Wolfpacks are back.

THE -

- terrible black packaging, as usual, I can't get used to it, sorry;

- color type vomit for the shieldsmith/inn (there's somehting wrong with it);

- the tree (seriously?);

- STICKERS, just no;

- not enough animals;

- not enough figures.

I would have easily paid 300€ for more figs, animals, trees and prints only as the original leak hinted it. I will of course take it, but not on any conditions.

Well if it were 4 seperate buildings, Lego has to put more effort in their designs. No they think they can get away with it with one decent building and one lame building. So it's up to you, the consumer. I spended my money on the BDP program instead of this half complete set.

And that's cool.  You buy what you like.  That's how it should be.

To me, the BDP castle is nowhere near as appealing as Medieval Town Square.  MTS has more color, animals, interesting minifigures and accessories, and is most likely a better building experience.

Lowenstein Castle from the AFOL Designer Program doesn't appeal to me either, but I do prefer it over Mountain Fortress.  Probably because the former has more color to it.  And I do like Castle in the Forest.

I'll probably get the set, will be heavily tempted to replace the roofs in the tower/inn area with  something like the Blacksmith set has. I'll probably try using the freed up parts to replace the completely shitty roofs in the other buildings. Certainly disappointed with stickers being everywhere, but it is what it is... Can't say I'm disappointed by not having a Dragon Knight shield or a crossed axes torso, since nobody ever promised any of that, and tbh I always found the idea the village - that was obviously Lion Knight affiliated - selling stuff for a rival factions a bit much to expect ;)

Where are the pictures coming from? What's the source? Or is it a leak? And where can I see them in high resolution?

I saw them on brick clicker’s Instagram. Not sure if people have seen others elsewhere.

Probably due to budget being cut down.  We will probably never know for sure why.

The Lowenstein Castle build is in the top three best castle builds of all time for me!

I already said as much on the LegoCastles subreddit, but for those that don’t frequent that sub, here are my thoughts.

Good to see more/better pics. Understanding that some people are disappointed, here is my checklist of expectations and why I am not disappointed.

1: Animals - check
While it is certainly fewer animals than the survey leak pic, things like cows, horses and sheep are readily available. What isn’t readily available is a recolor of the goat, and that’s pretty awesome.

2: Minifigs - check +
I expected most to be new, and most to be civilians. This is one of the biggest things for this set and I’m liking what I’m seeing. It gets a + because I think most of us expected another forestman, and the Wolfpack is a welcome surprise.

3: Build - check
I think we’re getting spoiled, as I think the build is objectively more interesting than either of the two main civilian-focused sets we’ve gotten in the past. (MMV & MVR) bigger and much more than just two basic houses or a simple barn.

4: art - check +
Unique elements are important in a set like this and I had high hopes that have been exceeded. Wall art, tapestry, new shield and tons of great signage are fantastic. While it would surely be better with prints instead of stickers, I think we all know not to expect all of this to be printed in today’s Lego offerings.

I can’t wait to add this to my medieval village.

A site that begins with R and ends with T. A google of the lego ID will bring it up. Hope this info does not break any terms for Eurobricks, if so mods please delete. :pir-classic:
