The G-class has stickers for the tail lights. Didn't all recent speed champions had either prints or built head/tail lights?

Unfortunately has stickers. And personally I hate it. If I would be so precise I'll never put stickers ideally on both sides.

August wave leaked. I’m quite liking the Ferrari, looks good and maybe some useful techniques. Unsure about the NASCAR though, I really want to like it, but it looks a little too high and the bonnet doesn’t seem to transition well to the cabin.

Yes, the F40 looks very nice. Bold choice with the headlights, but I think it works. I think I would have preferred trans black over clear for the glass though, to better match the Creator Expert F40. The minifig is a bit plain. I like that they got the inwards curve on the rear wing end-plates. And red spoons! The NASCAR looks okay, but that bonnet transition is rough and the livery is going to look awful if stickers are not applied.

Well, F40 headlight screams for some covers. Now they are like a skull with eyeholes...
I was trying to build 8-wide F40 for a year (I'm a lazy builder) and the headlight was my biggest pain - to have them and keep the thin black "waterline". TLG seems to cut the corners with mass use of stickers...

I wanted to like the F40 but once again in Speed Champions the license buys you a sticker sheet with some bricks. They even have broken their own rules by applying stickers on curved pieces. This would peel and look like shit in a couple of years easily. I will wait for reviews and higher resolution photos to determine how much of the model's looks depend on the stickers, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

The more I look at the F40 the more I think it will need some modification. Maybe wedge some trans black cheese slopes into those headlight spaces. Reduce the rear wing from 2x6 to 1x6 while replacing the 2x2 curved end-plates with 1x2 curved slopes and 1x2 curved wedges. And while it's great that Lego can now print on the lower sides of the windscreens, I think it makes the window look a little too narrow in this case, as if it is squinting. Still pretty happy with what we're getting, though I'm curious to see the back of the car.

I just looked at the leaked pics, here's what I think:

The rule has never been no stickers on curved pieces. It's no stickers on compound curves. I don't think that rule has been broken.

Has anyone tried to fit Batman into the Lambo V12? It looks like it would make an excellent Batmobile (with the olive green parts switched to black, obviously!), but I am not sure that any of the cowls will fit and allow the canopy to close all the way.

The new f40 looks off, looks almost like an f50. I modified the 6 stud version to 8 wide a while ago, so interesting comparison: Picture

Left to right:

  1. Original coming set 76934 Ferrari F40
  2. "Mix" of both models. I tried to correct the headlights and rear spoiler.
  3. My vision of F40 (a way long track of making old 6-wide model bigger).
I was surprised that TLG really decided to make these new wedge-slopes (B-pillars) in red.

Nice work. I'd take the middle version for sure, though maybe without the 1x1 cheese slopes in front of the rear wing end-plates (they look good, but a bit F50-ish). Your hybrid version really confirms how much the headlights and rear wing need fixing, and as much as I like red spoons, the half-round wing mirrors also look a bit cleaner.

A few observations after trying to rev-eng the NASCAR:

  1. The area in front of the front wheels is VERY dense with some crazy geometries; particularly the brackets sandwiching the grille. It'll be interesting to see whether the official set uses a more intuitive technique!
  2. The rear half of the car is completely empty. Literally just a shell, to the point where I could totally believe the designer has hidden some sort of play feature in there. Maybe a mechanism to deploy & retract the transparent fins?
  3. In the centre of the bonnet I assume is a printed 3x3 round tile in DBG. If so, this means the windshield is attached by the roof and not the base. Can you think of another SC set like this?

Why surprised? This is exactly the purpose they were designed for!
(I'm very grateful they are coming in red, I already have a WIP that needs them )

Oh wow, that middle blend is fantastic. I'm actually surprised Lego didn't do the spoiler how you've done it there... it makes a great model even nicer, without doing anything crazy. And they've certainly released more fragile spoilers than that in official sets. Your headlight mod is great, too.

I think they've done an exceptional job with the F40 set though, I'm very impressed. The body subtly pinches inwards behind the front fenders, an important styling detail that every nice MOC I've seen still didn't capture. They also aren't using stickers to do much outside of adding fine details/logos that couldn't be brick-built well anyway, which is nice. I'm not as anti-sticker as some, but I don't like when a model starts to feel like stickers are compensating for a lackluster build

Is that a plain red road sign?  I suppose it leaves more space for taillights.

Yes, I also recognized it as a road sign, and the taillights may have a 4L-wide tile between them.

Also strikes me it could use a white or trans-clear bar piece with trans-orange 1x1 round plate with hole, to do the turn signal+reverse lights in bricks.

It was my personal surprise - I had been building an 8-wide F40 for a long time and some time ago found that I really needed these parts in red.
And... the 1st surprise was the rumor that TLG would make it too. I was happy to know it.
The 2nd is that it has the parts I needed in red

Agreed. Looks miles better.

Nice work! Incidentally, I'm not sure you got the transparent fins exactly right... I believe the left and right sides use this piece which previously appeared in transparent in the Kingfisher set.

It is already here, as printed 1x1 tiles. I kinda love them!

You're completely right!

LEGO introduced new slicks in this year. So, why they didn't use them in Camaro?

Love the middle one! Are the headlight covers just 1x1 cheese slopes? Are they fully attached, or just the outer ones?
