Actually they do, but its more like a return to center function i dont think its able to turn the grabble while loaded with timber

The final product for 42157 looks fantastic without a doubt. Those new claw pieces will be very useful. Additionally, this set's packed with pneumatic cylinders, which increases the value we're getting for its price.

Unfortunately, however, I do have one major critique: it does not appear that this set will contain a motorized pneumatic compressor, and that's a massive missed opportunity for TLG considering this set's $200 price tag. We haven't gotten a motorized compressor in any set since 2018's 42080 Forest Machine, which contained 489 fewer pieces and cost $50 less than what we're getting here. Just one battery box and one PU motor would have been all that was required, so a motorized air compressor absolutely could have fit in this model considering its size. For a $200 set, it's a real shame that TLG decided to stick with the manual air pump design.

Am I the only one that noticed the new 3L pin used for pistons in mini fake piston engine? I didn't think about that, but It seems like a cool alternative to having to secure the axle with a bushing.

With how expensive PU tends to be, I imagine they did it for cost reasons. And of course a motor compressor as an optional feature with separate motorization set (as in 42053) is out, since I don't think they do separate motor kits any more.

This part is no longer new and was in other sets, look at the bricklink.

Nice spot. Looks as though the flip flop beam may only be pinned at one end using a black friction pin, hard to tell for sure.

TLG could connect a small power supply from the train and an m-motor.

by "new" I meant that it's relatively new type of pin. What surprised me is the usage here, didn't thought about using this part for loose usage.

Something like this. But the length is only 15.7 studs if an 11 stud flip-flop beam aligns with the diagonal holes. Weird geometry indeed. Usually Technic frames are uneven stud length.

Look closer. The new A-Frame piece has reinforcements. And in case anyone didn't notice, I'm pretty sure this is the same A-Frame piece we will see used in yellow on 42146. That should give us some perspective on its boom size.

Wow, looks great. A sure buy for me even if I don't like the license that much.

I'm happy that we're getting every year at least 1 or 2 proper Technic sets to keep the line interesting. Without these few gems I would lose my interest in Technic entirely.

I think it's more likely that they are exactly 16M long, and the flip flop beams might only be pinned at one end.

I know it has zig-zag reinforcement but I don't need those for reverse engineering the model, only the connection points are important. But yes, it was originally made for the Liebherr crane, the heavy differential is another such example.

The A-frames are dark grey in the leaked image. Imagine the crazy off-roader you could make with those A frames as wishbones! The yellow frames are larger and rectangular.

These parts are 100% consistent with the 42126 set. But we are talking here about the fact that the length of these frames is not equal to an even number of pins)))

Not going to go that much into corporate politics here, but apparently they have done some crappy things to their customers with vendor locking, which causes severe problems for farmers. You can probably find out more with Google.

You're right, I stand corrected. And I guess we'll see just how useful these parts end up being in MOCs.

and maybe kept in place by half-pins.

But it's still weird to find a Technic piece with holes at slight-more-than-integer distance between holes.

That said, if the expectation that it's 16 long is correct, then the triangular parts have a 1:5 ratio, which would be half the angle of a 5:12:13 triangle which is known to have almost exactly the same angle as the #3 and #5 angle connectors.

Can we assume the steering mechanics will be similar to the 42136 set, just larger? It's a very simple and effective means. 

 

I definitely see this as a good base to install some PU capabilities.
