R0Sch Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Fun fact: They messed up the build again in the official images and box art! The side decoration is 1 module too high on one side. :)) Quote
suffocation Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Love this model! Is it 42008 green or 42039 green? Quote

AVCampos Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 The LEGO employee responsible for the photo shoot wanted to fix it, but John Deere wouldn't allow it. Quote

This might be the funniest comment on this thread..... Looking at the pneumatics and the scale of the vehicle, I wonder what the actual lifting capacity might be. For example, would lifting a 12oz can of soda be enough to lift the other end up? Or, would the claw even be able to lift that amount? Quote

R0Sch Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 (edited) I think there is a new gear in lbg in this set or the 20T spur gear is recolored. Maybe we finally get a 18T+14T spur gear combo. Never mind, it's 16T after all. :(( Edited May 3, 2023 by R0Sch correction Quote

But there's also 4 huge wheels and tyres, more pneumatics, the large grab pieces and some large frames. It would be interesting to compare the weight of the skidder with 42128 as that would be a better indication of their relative value. ABS plastic goes about 2 to 3 dollars per kg in Alibaba... Accounting for moulding, I suspect total manufacturing costs are probably not even 10% of a Lego set's final price. Lego operates on huge margins and the latest price hikes were just pure profit. Johnny1360 Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Seems like an unusually fair price to me considering all the cylinders and great part selection, especially when compared to recent pneumatic offerings, I consider the tow truck to be a good bargain as well. That's something I rarely say anymore about any LEGO set. Quote

But let's not forget that no judgements are set in stone until the set actually releases and the video reviews are posted in the summertime. Quote

R0Sch Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 The 360° rendering from LEGO also shows the linear actuators not extended enough (unconnected) and the pneumatic switches missing the body (only black lever visible). So professional :)) Quote

SNIPE Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 I was wondering why there was a crank hitting the green beam under the engine cylinders, turns out that its a part that fell off. I'm assuming its an i6 engine like the real thing? Quote

The guys before you just concluded that it is indeed the crankshaft, and not a part that fell off, an I think they are right. It's not hitting the beam, it just appear so due to the perspective. Is the yellow new style diff stronger than the red ones? This set looks great. Very motivated to buy it... and keeps the dream alive that one day i might have enough green to build big 9R articulated tractor. Unless TLG release one as a flagship?! (i know its unlikely as tractors are less popular, but these days, couldn't it just identify as a supercar and everyone would buy it? No ones allowed to say its not actually a supercar!! ) Quote
R0Sch Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 11 minutes ago, TeamThrifty said: Quick question.. Is the yellow new style diff stronger than the red ones? Well, the weakest link are still the same 5 small bevel gears since it shares the body of the red geared diff, but the 2 driving gears have about 50% larger module so yes, it's stronger. It was specifically designed for the Liebherr crane to handle the weight. What I find strange is that this model is 4x4 but lacks a central differential although there is plenty of room for one. There is even a white 3L connector between the 19L frames where a diff would have fit perfectly and made sense. Quote
TeamThrifty Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 @R0Sch Thanks, i didn't realise there was a different one! I've been away from lego for a few months due to work commitments.. Need to buy some yellow diffs! 3 minutes ago, R0Sch said: What I find strange is that this model is 4x4 but lacks a central differential If the pivot point is exactly central between the axles then no central diff is needed as the axles always travel the same distance. Same in big articulated tractors. No central diff. Where as the Xerion does due to its steering modes as each axle may be travelling at a different speed, so central is needed 19 hours ago, Zerobricks said: I see the reason, they used the yellow, stronger diff.
