That's what i am doing haha None of this year's Lego Star Wars sets is interesting for me and i'll skip them all. So far the only set i plan to buy this year is the 40€ Indy temple x2. But of course...if the Eldorado Fortress turns out to be true, i know what i'm gonna buy
jodawill Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 (edited) Star Wars is ALWAYS available. Pirates is one a decade at best. The choice is obvious. Edited April 3, 2023 by jodawill

Only one thing you can do in these circumstances. Storm the LEGO headquarters, take over, cancel Star Wars, implement evergreen pirates theme.
Elephant Knight Posted April 4, 2023 Posted April 4, 2023 Not surprised it's going to be an Eldorado Fortress remake. Whether it fails to meet of exceeds expectations, I'm going to buy it. better start saving now. I hope that Majisto GWP is also available at the same time. EKnight

EKnight I find it very unlikely that it would disappoint us. I bet it's going to be very similar to 10305, just a little smaller. The only thing I anticipate being an issue for me personally is the super babyish pirates they've had recently, especially that new jolly roger. But I would still buy it and replace the pirates with something better, probably the 2015 pirates. So we've already gotten a ship, a castle, a classic space ship, and now Eldorado Fortress. The question is, what's next? That already covers their most iconic themes. Would they move onto later factions? Maybe a new Fort Legoredo!

After that, I'd love an Imperial flagship, a Forestmen 6066 Camouflaged Outpost update (another of my favourite childhood sets), and then some kind of merchant port as a civilian background for the Imperials and pirates - potentially to link with the Eldorado Fortress.

This is a very good point! Except maybe not quite one a decade as Barracuda Bay was released around 3 years ago. 1 hour ago, jodawill said: So we've already gotten a ship, a castle, a classic space ship, and now Eldorado Fortress. Would they move onto later factions? 6277 Imperial Trading Post would be a fine choice for the next updated set and @AstroFalcon suggested 6278 Enchanted Island. Although, it shouldn't strictly be updating classic sets... new, original ideas are still welcomed by AFOLs, are they not? It's about time the Imperial Armada got a base of operations so something like "Armada Port" by Brickhammer would fill that gap nicely.

At that price, I doubt there will be any sails in there. This! I am not sure what I am most hyped about this or the medieval village, but they are both so high on the list compared to everything else I am not sure what is on the 3rd place right now

Khargeust Posted April 4, 2023 Posted April 4, 2023 Do you think it will get a vintage packaging like the other recent retro sets ?

Yperio_Bricks Posted April 4, 2023 Posted April 4, 2023 No matter the box art, i will rip the box open asap

More seriously @Lion King, product packaging does play a vital role in attracting customers. A box with beautifully presented photography and artwork grabs attention, particularly when it's competing for shelf space in retail outlets. But it also contributes to the overall buying experience of the product. Sure, hardcore AFOL builders and children only care about the parts inside the box, but the box itself is also a collectable. The value of a classic LEGO set can be substantially increased if the box is included in good condition, and sometimes the box alone can fetch quite high prices. Furthermore, older fans of the LEGO Pirate theme really appreciate the effort that went into presenting the classic pirate sets in physically built dioramas - many AFOLs hope that the LEGO Group one day returns to this pratice... rather than the typical modern trend of editing a product photo into a 2D artwork.

I used to stare at boxes for hours at stores not being able to afford them. Now that I can I always save my boxes, maybe they are a little creased an dented but it still feels special owning them. Once I have a house, I'll set up a mini Lego store in one room with all of my boxes XD

Yperio_Bricks Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 I simply put all boxes and instructions into the recycling containers. Paper is a resource after all
