50 days to the event!

It has gotten a bit quite lately what information about our upcoming event is concerned. :look:

So I would like to share the few  information we have right now:

UPDATE 3/21:

Wednesday: Get together in the evening, most probably in/at the Lalandia restaurant

Thursday: LEGO House. Meeting point 10 o'clock at the main entrance.

Friday: LEGOLAND. Meeting point 10 o'clock at the main entrance.

Saturday: Raise your voice what to do here!

Sunday: A last breakfast before we all leave the scene.

Besides that nothing is really set by now.

Even the place where we can stay in the afternoon is not set! Maybe the houses at Lalandia are big enough to gather, as we are fewer eventees like the years before.
If no one stays at Legoland Village we hardly can use their space to meet.

We are facing certain changes to the last events in 2023: Support by TLC is yet unclear.
- We used to receive a box of giveaways that could be used for prices, etc.
- When we planned for 2020, TLC offered us a quite expensive tour through LEGO House and we decided not to accept it.
- Will there be a tour to the emplyee shop? Most likely not.

So much for the poor facts.

This is the point where all of you are asked to make up your mind, what our pogramme can consist of! What can YOU add to the agenda?

Are you able to make a workshop or somthing similar on a specific niche?
What about contests, either before the event or at it? (Bear in mind the unclear rewards (see above))
Is there something you want to show and tell us?
Who will take care of the countdown?

I do have some ideas, but I can't make it all alone. I will post that after the introduction here.

As I mentioned for 2020, I have some sets available for prizes. I am able to bring them along.

However I am still without accommodation :look:

I have one idea for a contest: How you spent lockdown!

I also have gathered some smaller Sets for prices over the years  I will see what I can bring along.

For a contest I was thinking in the same direction but maybe a bit more cheerful. So rather in the direction of "how do you picture this years event after all the years of waiting" Vignette style so that everyone can participate easily. (I also always like to take a EB-twist on new Lego themes. Like last time we had the Architecture Skyline of your own city contest.)

I would be happy to come up with something regarding rules and stuff. Peppermint and I could also do it together or someone else if interested.

Wonderful idea!

A second one: Build your own "Houses Of The World" - house, just like the new gwp40583-1.t1.png40583.

What I could offer: A small workshop about (hold your breath!) LEGO competitors. *oh2* There is a German website offering tons of (mostly) Chinese brands and they are producing own sets as well, called Bluebrixx.de. They do have the license for Star Trek and I own a handful of smaller vessels I can bring along. I also have some city additions and a very interesting development of the minifig with articulating shoulders and knees!

I am trying to get my hands on some sponsored prizes. I do have polybags which we can use for a contest. I can come up with something. Speed build, bag build, blind build, whatever. I have lots of the bags (one unique set).

Do we actually know who the one was who had connections to TLC to ask for support? :look:

The big box always wondrously found its way to my place in order to bring it to the event, but I don't how who asked for it.

That used to be Mike. He was the Ambassador and he had connections with Kim back in the days obviously. This probably made things a lot easier. I am now in contact with LEGO Benelux and they can provide support for events. Already asked for minifigs, big box, etc. But times have changed. It's not that easy anymore.

LEGO competitors.

I too can present on the subject (dusts of my past crown...) yours sounds interesting. We have some Science Museum branded sets here in the UK that may be similar.

Time's are changing. I see that in the forums as well. We are writing new rules for Technic, allowing posts about certain competitors. And with the new 600+ euro Technic underway, I'd say it's time to bend the rules a bit

And of course, I am interested in Star Trek stuff.

Certainly something for discussion in person too. A bit of a Staff Meeting maybe? Just to catch up and such.

I will have my Kfol and Tfol with me, so I would rather not oblige to anything. We are also still looking up possibilities to come.

Regarding employee store: in 2020 it was under renovation, moving from previous location to Lego Campus. Since then, they allowed visit for Skaerbaek Fan Weekend participants, so maybe it's worth asking again (if last info is from 2020).  Not a game changer for me, but it would be nice to visit. Campus too, but since it's part of (expensive) Lego house tour, I doubt that they will want to do it outside of that.

Lego house has nice auditorium, which was planned for use for fans too (at least that's how Kjeld and other said). Getting acces to that would be nice. Maybe if we all but Lego house tickets?

Idea house/factory/vault/model shop is probably impossible to get, but I guess we've more or less all seen most of those. Was there any contact with Jan regarding all this after Covid?

In any case, I'm mostly looking forward to good company and seeing all of you again after long time and that something that TLG can not take away.

Since this is my first time in Billund, I'd personally be very interested in any shop/factory/vault tours we can get, even if it does cost more. But I understand Lego has locked that down more and more lately. Hopefully they're at least responsive to communication on the matter :)

Jim, we two still need to do our blind Millennium Falcon speed build competition. I already have something prepared. Maybe I can make a little event out of it. I will think about it

Looking forward to it. I’m still blindfolded from the last one

I like that idea!
In the sense of: Build an addition for the House Of The World in the style of the GWP. It can be your own house or another house of the town you live in or a house you have been impressed by (just tell a good story about why this house is the one you choose).

If you want I can make a topic for it this week with some minimal rules.

I have found my building board game I mentioned way back for the planned 2020 event. I can bring that along and see what we think?

Board games are always fun

Thanks to LasseD, we now have a first schedule for the event. I've updated the first post accordingly.

There is still the saturday left to be filled with action. So please raise your voice what you want to do with it.

Possibilities: Lalandia Bath / Bowling / Minifigature Golf ...

I have asked TLG is there is any chance we can visit a factory, employee store, whatever. I have little hope, but let's wait til the official rejection

I wouldn't mind taking care of a bowling event again.

During the day we can split up and let people do whatever they want. Maybe at the end of the day simply have some drinks and do some building etc in the common room.

Boo for the rejection!

But I think bowling is nice. And yes, the other times we always split up and had some fun during the day in little groups. I guess that would work.

And hanging out together in the evening is always cool. We still don't have a meeting room though, right?

Maybe someone staying at a different Hotel could ask there if they have a room we could get/rent.
