Posted July 9, 200816 yr So here it is, I'm curious to know of the money that you spend on LEGO in the past year and a half (2007-2008) where do you spend it? To keep it "at a glance", when you reply, please include the following, in order of who gets the most of your LEGO dollar, pound, euro, kroner, yen, etc... LEGO (LEGO stores, website, or catalog) Bricklink Ebay Other online retailers (new or used dealers, not including Bricklink or ebay) Toy stores Other Retailers Other used sellers (offline used sales, including: yard sales, swap meets, resale shops, etc) IF you want to elaborate -details, percents, why, etc- by all means do so. I'll start LEGO 70% (would have been much smaller if not for Brickworld deals.) Other used sellers 15% Bricklink5% Other Retailers 5% Toy stores 5% Interestingly enough, the actual amount of brick I purchased from "other used sellers" is probably 30-50% of the total number of pieces that I purchased, even though it's probably only 15% of my spending.
July 9, 200816 yr Hmm... I buy most of my LEGO at Target but I sometimes make large orders with Shop@Home. When I buy on eBay I usually buy bulk lots which can be pretty cheap and I've only bought three things from Brick Link, figures, mounts, and a Pirates set so I think that this would be about it. LEGO: 35% Target: 65% Brick Link: 5% eBay: 5% I get more from eBay and Shop@Home as gifts so they don't count on this list. If people help me I might be able to make an extra category for LEGO given to me by other EBers.
July 9, 200816 yr Hmmmm - It would be 100% @ the Lego store if it was closer, but TRU/Target/Wally World usually claim my funds due to the closeness factor. Plus each of them have great deals throughout the whole year. I missed the last "Double-Stamp" promo...
July 9, 200816 yr Woolworths or Toys r us. Sometimes S@H for keyrings and stuff i havn't found in stores.
July 9, 200816 yr Mine's boring: LEGO - 60% Toy stores - 30% Other Retailers - 30% Simple really... :skull:
July 9, 200816 yr Trademe 45% K-mart 25% eBay 20% Other used sellers 10% But keep in mind - my life motto is 'never pay full price for anithing' - otherwise it would be more like k-mart 50% toyshops 50%
July 9, 200816 yr Bricklink: 50% ebay: 40% Lego S@H: 10% My focus is more on MOCs than sets these days, and even with current sets, I often find them cheaper on ebay than at S@H. I rarely buy any Lego at retail stores (the last time I did was over 8 years ago ).
July 9, 200816 yr e-bay: 70 % Lego S@H: 20 % Woolworths: 10% I use ebay a lot, mainly for old sets like space or pirate Lego.
July 9, 200816 yr I would say for me: 60% Target 15% Other stores such as Wal-Mart and TRU 10% Bricklink 5% Ebay 10% LEGO This number would be more if there was a LEGO store that was closer than 6 hours away. I order from S@H sometimes but the shipping costs are pretty high, so I only order there if I really need to.
July 9, 200816 yr I hate having to wait for stuff I really like, and most things are released their way in advance of when they hit stores here (if they ever do), so I use S@H a lot more than I used to. I also love the exclusives (eg Green Grocer, Cafe Corner, Death Star etc) and we don't have Lego retail stores in Aus, so I'm forced to use S@H for sets like that anyway. I do still buy stuff from the sales we have here, so that subsidises (or excuses) the shipping costs. I'd say roughly: 60% - Shop at Home 30% - retail stores like Target, K-Mart, Myer etc 10% - Bricklink
July 9, 200816 yr Lego Store: 33% eBay: 25% Bricklink: 17% Craigslist: 17% Other: 8% Would be more at the Lego store but I don't live that close to it so I have to already be in the area for some other reason. Otherwise I would probably be buying a large PAB container (the $12 one, not the old $100 one) every week. Whenever I go to the Lego store I spend at least $50 buying sets that are not available anywhere else, so that's why it still has the highest percentage. Chris
July 10, 200816 yr Up until bley I was an almost all lego S@H guy. And then the betrayal... Now adays I am bricklinking more and more of my lego budget. I still buy from toy stores but mainly on sale. Since I don't include bley in the price per piece I've made it very hard for lego (not on sale) to compete with bricklink... That said the exclusives still make good bait. God Bless, Nathan
July 10, 200816 yr For me is this: 70% - Toy retailer (Target and Toysrus usually) 25% - Ebay 5% - LEGO Very simple .
July 10, 200816 yr 97% Bricklink (just loose parts and minifigs) and websites like ebay (for 2nd hand sets). about 3% Lego, mainly due to the absolutely ridiculous price differences between Europe and the U.S. (even in 2002, when the $ really was still worth more than the €, these conversion rates would have been way off). I'm only planning on getting 7622 new this year, nothing else. Edited July 10, 200816 yr by Fluyt
July 11, 200816 yr 50% Lego Brand Store 20% Shop@Home 10% Bricklink 10% Toy retailer (Kaufland, Obletter in Germany) 10% Other (Community) Cheers, Thomas
July 11, 200816 yr 60% LEGO stores 25% Bricklink 5% Discount stores 5% Toys R Us 5% Online Retailers (Brickforge/Brickarms) Thank god I can count!
July 11, 200816 yr ~30% Target, K-Mart, Toys R' Us, and etc. ~30% LEGO Shop At Home ~20% LEGO Retailer Store ~10%and growing BrickLink ~10% Offline Retailers
July 11, 200816 yr From what I can remember: Retail stores: 30% Ebay/Bricklink: 50% LEGO Shop at Home: 20% Quite simple really but an estimate nonetheless.
July 12, 200816 yr EASY 75% Lego online Shop@Home 25% Toys R' Us NEVER Ebay NEVER Lego stores (the nearest is about 200 miles away ) (there's only 3 stores in the whole of the UK) OCCASIONALLY a few toy shops (e.g. I got the Hailfire Droid whilst in Mallorca)
July 12, 200816 yr The past years spending is like this: 60% Bricklink 58% Toystores 1% S@H 1% A local grocery store.
